Originally posted by Kayo45 lol, well... last I checked its near impossible to get in game and there is no actual (probable) fix until next week when they get more datacenters. Ive yet to recieve my final product code so I can get my CE items despite the fact I ordered directly from SE about 3 days (max) after it was announced.
There is a shitstorm going on right now and even Yoshida is having a mental breakdown it looks like. Sadly, most of this crap has nothing to do with the actual design of the game, which is what hes mostly responsible for... that part, at least, is great.
Near impossible? I have played every night since the 24th. When it says the world is full, you just hit to hit it over and over and after about a minute, it puts you in a queue. It is a bit of a pain, but not a show stopper. At least, it hasn't been for me.
The funny thing is.. when you do get in game how damn smoothly it runs. I have everything jacked up and even with 30+ people on the screen.
I tried hitting it for 5 min and still got the message. I wonder if people are just leaving their characters in game to reserve their spot, because it's still working and school hours in the US.
Played ~6 hours in B4, ~12 hours in B3.
Early Access? 30 minutes.
That's right, for 3 days of attempting to log in (a collective 2-3 hours of pressing 0), I got 30 minutes of play. I pre-purchased 2.0, even with a legacy account. Consider this for a moment- I'm one of those long-term FF fans who has patiently waited for this re-release. Such long-term fans are an important keystone in building a community- if you don't believe this, then consider how any other given theme park could get a jaded audience to be excited about classic MMO systems again. The FF brand is huge, but only because of long-time fans, players and critics alike.
Even we have limits. I'm not illogical or deluded enough to lie to myself or be an apologist. In short, there is a real risk of losing the thousands of devoted (yet rational) players like me.

I'm grateful for the 14-days free, and reduced monthly fee. That said, if I can't play at all during those 14 days, I'll officially feel violated when they ask for my money.
I'm planning to go home tonight and log in...like ya do when there's an MMO you'd like to play. If there isn't a queue accessible within ~10 attempts, I might just start to believe that Squeenix is self-sabotaging.

And if it's JP onry? Good luck with that.
If in the event this causes a drop in players, my money is on MMORPG.com forum posters attributing it to "P2P is dead", rather than the actual reason of it not being playable...
