NA/EU Servers down

Not sure if its just me, but the world list is down, and I can't even check the server status list because its blank 0.0 I think SE servers are screaming from the traffic this morning. Anyone else having this issue? Was hoping to sneak past 1017 this morning but been down for a hour already.

Havent been able to log in all morning..
Yesterday was the same thing.. and every day before that.
I dont even necessarily like the game; I just want the opportunity to play it and make an informed decision!

you people need to understand that the servers, as far as I can tell, haven't been down at any time since launch.
they are just full.
so waiting isn't going get you on since the servers are not going back up
either the log in server is slammed and you cant even get your world list open, or the actual server you are trying to play on is full.
so you can keep trying or wait until next week when new servers arrive.
its labor day weekend, so expect today and tomorrow to be really congested.
I don't need to understand anything.
As I see it; Myself along with thousands of others purchased a game - that we continously and incessantly cannot play.
We bought this game under the naive "UNDERSTANDING" that we would be able to play it.
Time and time again im always amazed how these mmo's have the vast majority of you defending them.
Your all suffering from stockholm syndrome.

YOU need to learn to read the OP. I wasn't complaining I was inquiring if it was in fact a issue known since normally I'm greeted with 1017, but can't even get that far. WE understand completely, its a fun game and its a holiday weekend so if that is the case then just gotta keep trying, we simply want to play and I had a question which is now answered though it was answered rudely. Thank you!

Thanks for the explanation. Normally I can fight my way into the game, but now I can't even get the server list to load. Had no idea why, but now I understand. Thanks.Iv'e been able to consistently log in and play with little to no issue. Mainly just had to spam the login server for 5 minutes or so.
That being said, I think that this influx of players who constantly defend and blame everything on the players is absurd. Is SE doing their best to resolve and handle the current situation? Yes. Are they probably going to compensate us for our play time lost in early access and now into release? Probably. Did they have extensive beta testing and problems during the beta tests time and time again that pointed to this very issue making its way into release, and did not(could not?) fix it? YES.
Either you guys have severely lowered your standard for a quality MMO experience, release or not, or just because it's release, you feel that all of this is acceptable. As a game genre, they are supposed to progress, and get better...we have the technology. And as a consumer base, we are supposed to grow and progress right along with them. This isnt an MMO release 5 years ago, it's 2013. It's time we start realizing that.
The other problem comes from too many people trying to login and hammering and generally messing up the login 'lobby.' This gets you the greyed out start or gives you other lobby errors like inability to find the NA/EU or JP servers.
You eventually get past the first problem by repeatedly trying to login, which exacerbates the second problem. But enough times restarting your launcher should eventually get you past the second problem only then to experience the fun of the long servers full boss fight.
Just read new servers will NOT be turned on till Wednesday. So at least 3 more days of these, they should've had extra servers set aside at launch. That way all they would've had to done was flip the switch on them.
I also agree 100% with those that want AFKers to be kicked after 15-30 mins or so. Aion had problems a lot like this, people couldn't play due to AFKers. People would log in before work or going to sleep and be AFK for 8+ hours. NC Soft started kicking them after a certain amount of time and that helped A LOT. After that logging in was easy, and I think there's a very good chance these would help FFIV:ARR too.
Oh snap, now I get to fight the 1017 Boss fight before I even see the character/server list 0.0 I am soooo confused right now.

it be fine once they add new servers and they are thinking about afk timer but first priority is get the new servers juat a few more days guys : ) it sucks but at least we will probly get a week plus free time
also i think the new servers wont be turned on but they could increase server capacity before then and see if the servers can hold enough people then. if not new servers come up
Sorry but as a paying customer that is just not acceptable. This is another reason why subscriptions are not worth it because the service you get is usually very poor. I have played f2p games that had a better launch. Neverwinter had a better launch than ff14 and it's f2p.
I got into my character list! JOY! I even made it so far that I could select him and then BOOM in queue! 31 people ahead of me! wait.....its my turn now! Loading screen! ......1017......NOO! Start, cant find the NA/EU server list again...*bashes head into keyboard*
But the thing is if they would've already done a AFK timer a lot of this would've been fixed. Do a timer until new servers are added. Plus they didn't really say new servers this Wednesday, they said this Wednesday if all the testing went ok. So any problems could set it back days to even a week or longer.

Sometimes I see people on here complaining about not being able to bring up the list of NA servers, while I'm on an NA server playing.
I've been on the other side of that as well.
I'm assuming it's a separate thing that also goes down. Or it's just from stress on the servers.
Every single time I've had that issue, restarting the client fixed it. You could always try ipconfig /flushdns as well.
Then charge back the game and do yourself a favor and NEVER join a mmorpg launch again.
Im sorry but this isn't the first mmo launch. If you are sensitive to launch issues why on earth did you preorder a game for a new mmo and not wait a week or two.

And yes please stick to all those awesome f2p games with fantastic service...lol

Tried that. Then after that the start button is greyed and it eventually tells me "the lobby server connection has encountered an error" 5006
I hate to ask the overly obvious question, but was the lobby server down? I always check http://arrstatus.com/.
