They really should save character data, just saiyan.

Its funny to me that they want so many people who were not chosen for beta, to help them stress test their beta. But are only allowing us to play it for 3 hours then return to the "I didn't get an invite to ESO beta" club.

I'm still not personally sure if I even want to assist for the stress test, why don't they just give us normal invites? We all know this "if you help us it will greatly increase your chances of getting a regular invite" is horse shit.

Not for me I been plagued with invites, I dunno if I can redo the first zone. image

Well then consider yourself one of the lucky who received an invite. However this is almost an insult to gamers in general who truly want to play and assist with the beta for ESO.

CONGRATULATIONS ON RECEIVING YOUR ESO BETA INVITATION......  for 3 hours.

Aren't beta tests just that. Beta tests?

Aren't players offering to help them test in whatever manner they require?

Players seem to think that all beta tests should be early access.

    This is a good thing.

Also, I wonder if they saw the issues with FF14 and freaked.

    This.

I think the problem is that many studios and developers aren't treating betas like they use to - as a means to only test and improve the game.  Instead, they are using it to monetize the game, before it is ready.  Its kind of taking advantage of the player base.  Oh well; Salesmen will be salesmen.

Actually what happened was all of us that signed up for beta when it first went up got screwed because they changed to a new server/website and wiped all the beta applications in the process.

I just found out last night that even though I signed up for beta the 1st hour it was live, they had no beta application on file for me.

Not sure  about that. I signed up in the 1st 24 hours and got a invite to the stress test. Heres to hoping that playing on friday lets me get into more of the tests.

I think what is happening with FFXIV is a result of poor stress and performance testing and also poor contingency plans in place prior to Launch. They are now reacting to what they should have risk mitigated prior to launch...or maybe they did do a risk assessment and underestimated the risks, either way, it failed. I'm happy I finally got into this beta, even if its just a stress test, to help them not make the same mistakes, and Im hoping I can see the game for 5 minutes on a high end PC like mine so I can see for myself how they are doing at least for the visuals and animations since I already know character creation is more advance than most MMOs out there.

Getting an invite to this beta will improve your chances of getting into future betas so it isn't necessarily like you're being thrown back into the vast ocean of beta testers. And besides - there are A LOT of players out there who will gladly take your 3 hour test so sit down, shut your mouth and enjoy the 3 hours you did get.

I too originally registered the first day or two and neither myself, nor any others I know ever received an invite. So, if this is actually the case, it would explain why their beta site let me register a second time just recently.....nice!image

lol exactly. I've been checking my junk and regular mail daily and everytime I get a ding in the back of my head I think, maybe thats an ESO beta invite lol. Even though its not quite the test I was hoping for, I'm glad to get in to help with anything at this point :-)

I am honestly surprised that some posters who claim to have received invites are complaining it is only for a 3 hour test, with possibility of more testing.  Looking a gift horse in the mouth.  My goodness... You are complaining about getting something for free, classic entitlement syndrome...

    Cheers!

If you all want to ignore the blatant fact that you're being used, that is your choice. I personally am not naive enough to believe that participating in their stress test will lead to a better chance of a real beta invite. But hey believe whatever you want.

Just think of it as a chance to Demo the game, but you get 3 hours instead of 20min AND you dont have to stand in some long line at some Convention.

Except for the fact that directly in the invitation email they state that the servers will crash multiple times because of the stress load, and if they don't they will intentionally bring the servers down themselves to force a massive relog situation to make sure they can handle it. Thats not us getting to play a demo, its us sitting in a login queue, or seeing how many errors their servers have when 100,000 people try and log on at the same time.

People just don't get beta or stress tests. You do realize that we WANT to be used to help ensure this doesn't have the same type of launch that FFXIV is having. What do you think a stress test is for?  If I can increase the probability that a game I am a fan of is successful, for me thats fine. Sure, I wont be happy if I never get into a closed beta until open beta despite them saying it increases your chances, but if I do get in I want to be used to help the game, not to simply go try it even though Im dying to see how they have progressed.

because its just a stress test, they owe you nothing as you have purchased nothing. they need more people to "stress" their servers, after that they wont need you anymore.

if you don't like it then just don't do it. i am not even signed up for beta so it matters not to me, i will patiently await the launch version of the game rather than have a game i want to play be ruined yet again by participating in beta.

and thus helping them test the game, is that not the point? or did you think the point of beta was to let random people such as yourself try the game for free?
