Bought 1.0 in 2010, shouldn't I get ARR free ?

knallpulverknallpulver Member UncommonPosts: 41

I played in the Beta for FFXIV 1.0 and then later bought the game in 2010....

Shouldn't I get A Realm Reborn for free now ? It says so on their site at least, but when I login through the game-client, I'm asked to enter a code....

I checked my account to be sure, and it says that I registered FFXIV 1.0 on September 3rd 2010... So nothing wrong there.

Have anybody else had this problem ?

I hope I'm not supposed to enter the registration code I got back in 2010.... Cause I have no idea how to get that now, or how I even got back then (digital download)

I have emailed SE, but they haven't answered for 2 days now.... -_-

Don't wanna throw away money if I can get it free (not convinced I will like the game yet)

I seem to remember some sort of requirement about having to sub for 3 months to 1.0 to get ARR for free, but I could be wrong.

Incorrect, every 1.0 player gets the new game for free.

You don't have to buy the client again, and from launch you'll get 15 free days plus 7 days extra for the launch problems. This basically means you have till the 17th this month to play FFXIIV:ARR without paying a dime.

To logon & download, use the FFXIV accounting system. As said above, SE's user accounting system isn't the best optimized one, but It's already a lot better than with 1.0. At least all FFXIV:ARR stuff is centered on the MogStation now (can't miss it when you logon).

Download is a bit hard to find, but I got it -> http://www.finalfantasyxiv.com/playersdownload/eu/ (change eu into na if you're not EU)

Also worth to note, if you have played during 1.0, your old char is still there as well as your old goodies. You can even change (recreate) your character from scratch if you want and keap the old class(es) you had.

i read on gamefaq that 1.0 players need to download the beta which becomes the real client

Thanks for the tip, but it didn't work :( That link doesn't seem to link to the beta version anymore either...

I know where to download the client (like I said in my post)....

The problem is that it still asks me for a registration code when I login....

I don't understand what I'm supposed to do on Mogstation.... What do I need to download there ? I already have the client....

The Mogstation makes no sense at all... All I see there is "FFXIV: A Realm Reborn - Beta Test Windows(R) is registered to this account" and then farther down on the page "Service Account Status: Inactive"

Log into square enix account managing website and make sure you have the service activated under the same credentials as the game. I had trouble until I realized I was trying to play under my FFXIV #1 account (which was only a trial a long time ago) and not my FFXIV #2 account, which I had actually purchased. It worked after I did that.

If in 1982 we played with the current mentality, we would have burned down all the pac man games since the red ghost was clearly OP. Instead we just got better at the game.

And how do I do that ? :)

On the bottom left "select service", goes to mog station then on the green account status bar pick the tab for the account you are modifying.

I had similar problem. Go to http://eu.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/ or http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone , scroll down, click on Mog Station banner, log in to your SquareEnix account. You should see Mog Station Account Status page, with a tab called FINAL FANTASY XIV 1. If the tab shows that there is no subscription set up, than you have to click on "Account Services" button at the top of page, than on "Subscription Services" button and set up a subscription option. You should have 12 free days remaining (they added extra free days to all 1.0 players lately because of ongoing login problems), so you shouldn't be billed now. You can choose "Crysta" as payment option, if you don't want to be billed after free days end (assuming you don't have any Crysta on your SquareEnix account).

I hope that this helps :)

Thanks for trying to help, but I'm pretty sure there is something wrong with my account that needs fixing....

Have searched around on different sites, and have found other people who had the same problem as me, and nobody could fix it..... So I probably have to wait for SE to answer my email.

Here's a picture of my Mogstation:

    Mogstation

I'm pretty sure that's not how it should look like... And I can't do anything except adding services, witch have to have codes for....

Ive goten this far but when I put in my amazon code it saya it has already been registered...

Knall. In your case I believe you just need to click add windows service and enter your retail key.
  • PanopeiaPanopeia Member Posts: 31

Its pretty simple really, go to where you used to mess with ones square account management not the mogstation, make sure you check what services are added, it should list somewhere the ones you had once before like FFXIV "cancelled" just reactivate it.. if you do not do that you will not be able to login to the client as a 1.0 user.

Ive been there with this issue before early start for beta 4 last phase and had to do this also.

Maybe.... but I have no idea how to get that key....

    I didn't buy a physical copy, and it's was a key to a game I gave up on 3 years ago... -_-

It doesn't say Cancelled on my account.... it says it was registered 3rd September 2010.

If I try to change anything, I get to the Mogstation...

This is true, because SquareEnix changed it before official release. Now you have to make all changes to your FFXIV account trough Mog Station. Trying to register your old FFXIV 1.0 serial number probably wouldn't work. I've tried it with my account and it failed (it recognized the code, but failed to register it). This is logical, since you already have a FFXIV service account. Did you try to add a subscription like I suggested in my previous post?

What happens when you click add Windows Service under the Mog Station?

I would reach out to their online chat support if that doesn't work.

The account should already know that you previously owned 1.0 and that you can play until the 17th.

Here's the post on what you need to do:

I have this problem aswell and wrote a ticket about it..But I haven't gotten any answer yet , a week has passed and no answer to that ticket part from a mail telling me they got the ticket :)

And In the old account screen It sais I registered a game in September or something.

Just like yours It sais beta account for windows in MOGSTATION

and If I try the option to add a new game in Mog station i get to a page were i can insert a game code, but the old code for the 1.0 game is already used..If I try it :) So that doesn't work..

I Think something happened to the account during beta phase 3, I messed around with account page at that time and entered some beta code...I suppose that messed up the account ...But If you look into it I can bee seen that I once registered a "real code"

I got tired of waiting by the way so I just bought a new code online and registered that one...Maybe my wife can use the old account if I ever get it working that is. :)

I'm having the same exact issue as the OP. Registered 1.0 back in Sept. 2010 and my account shows up as Inactive beta account on the mog station. I contacted email support and they never replied back.

I'm sorry, you're right of course. The fact is that you have the FFXIV service account, so it is confirmed that you do own the game and you, or anybody else, shouldn't be forced to buy new account because of SE poor account management system. I do remember that I logged in to an old account management about a month before release and reactivated my FFXIV service, so, probably, this is why I haven't encountered this problem.

    to the poster above me:

The beta code for ARR applied to an account shouldn't be a problem - I've also added one to my account before beta phase 4 and it didn't mess my account in any way.
