It's funny how a few days can make a difference. A week ago one would be considered a fanatic if they said anything bad about DnL. Now, you're a fanatic if you praise it. Ahh, sweet irony.
The simple truth is that SoG is not anywhere near the point people expected this project to be at this stage of development. I don't see any way that Farlan can release a worthy title by April if this is a gauge of the progress yet far. In addition is entire SoG process leaves a big fat question-mark on if these guys even have what it takes to pull of a MMO. I don't mean just mean graphicly. I mean content, I mean connectivity, I mean customer support, I mean registration, etc.... all problems a gaming provider must deal with on a daily basis.
I don't want DnL to fail. It's funny they have so far. But, I still don't want it to become the next Mourning...even though it may. I'll probably check here and the DnL site from time to time. They are going to keep a nice cozy, yet dusty, spot in my bookmark list. Nevertheless, I am moving on to other games as well. I think at this point if you devote 110% to DnL you are crazy.
For you fanbois: I respect your undying love of this game. Seriously, I do. But please, for the love of God, don't send these guys any more cash until they show you a worthwhile product. No body wins if you do. Not you, certianly not the gaming community. Really, not even developers. They get quick fixes of cash, sure, but they loose out on the longterm mega-bucks that a greatly produced MMORPG can rake in.
PS - to the poster who eluded to the fact all the "flamers" in the past were just folks trying to get around the NDA. You might be onto something there. Not all, but some were for sure. They were laughed at. But, I ask you, who is laughing now?

This is why I respect, Phife. His post are honest, clean, and straight to the point.
In War - Victory. In Peace - Vigilance. In Death - Sacrifice.
Originally posted by birdseeds Did it ever occur to you the majority of flamers are beta testers that resorted to using a round about way of warning people about the game without ever admitting they are in beta(NDA).... You know, some of the beta testers may have actually felt bad for all of the potential Suckers of Ganareth after the way they where treated in beta by these con artist...
ding! Alex, tell this man what he's won!
i imagine this man speaks the truth... could be... perhaps... probably so.
