i started with Prince of Qin a couple of years ago cos i found the trial on gigex and i liked it however i went back once after playing better games an hated it.
My first MMORPG was Asheron's Call 2. It was really my first MMO experience, and I really enjoyed it for about 3 months. However, even though the game itself was exciting and I really enjoyed many aspects of it (Including mining), the players were my biggest shock. I just wasn't used to griefers, kill stealers, and generally annoying people in the game, and got so fed up with it that I just quit after a few months and didn't play another MMO for a few years. So, definitely not my favorite MMO of all time.
My favorite MMO is definitely Planetside, had some great times in that even though its gone downhill in the past year. However, if your talking about MMORPG, sadly it would have to be SilkRoad online, better than EverQuest II in my opinion. Fun leveling system, plenty of players, good skills and loot, and best of all, the price is right!
My first MMO was Everquest (1), and I hated it. I loved the art, I loved the cities, but the gameplay was just awful. The fact that they eventually put in a version of Tetris so you'd have something to do during the very frequent downtime says quite a bit about it. My second MMO, Asheron's Call (1), turned out to be my favorite.
It's worth noting, however, that I played MUDs for about five years before Everquest, Ultima Online or Asheron's Call were ever released, and there are far more similarities between MUDs and MMOs than there are differences. As a result, most of my likes and dislikes about online gaming were formed long before I ever logged into a massively multiplayer game.
This was my first MMORPG experience. I was lucky to have made a bunch of friends who I miss to this day. I've yet to find another game that has sucked me in like AO did before the expansions.
it was not my favorite. either DAOC or WoW would have to be my favorites. too bad neither game could keep me playing. i'd probably still be playing WoW if the end-game wasn't grind, grind, grind, grind, grind.
My First mmo was EQ, didn't like it. My second was Endless ages, didn't like it My third was PS, loved it until sept. My forth was SWG, first proper mmorpg i played loads until i quit. My fifth was EVE online, played it until now tbh.
Then i basically tried every mmorpg out there and hated them all tbh.

My first game was DAoC and I just came back to it a month ago, due to a friend telling me about Catacombs and the changes to come with Darkness Rising. So yes it's my favorite.
By the way, CoH is also my favorite, been playing it since release.
On another hand I tried a dozen ones. Eq was a nice experience, I only played it for 3 months though. Horizons was very cool in concept, too bad the devs did not implement what they told, the game was so promising. My guild and I quit after 5 months, leaving a whole handbuilt town behind... AC2 was fun, but quickly lacked of content. Eve online disappointed me, I was expecting something else than an economic simulation. Eq2 is very beautiful but all the things made to avoid PLing, Kill Stealing, quests you cannot solo and need a whole guild etc., made me feel like suffocating... Too many restraints/control for the libertarian that I am.
Anarchy Online, on another hand, is a game I still come back to from time to time.
Technically, EverQuest was my "first" MMORPG, which I played less than a week (end of 1999) and just felt the blocky, poorly draw avatars, poor movement and animations, horrid combat (characters did NOT even have a "combat stance") and gameplay drove me screaming away. Others LOVED that freaking game, which I will never, ever understand. Even with all its expansions and upgrades it seems like a poor game -- obviously, others disagreed and paid to play that game for years.
(Note: EQ2 is actually a significantly better game that the original EverQuest ever was -- its major downsides are 1) lack of PvP (dueling doesn't count -- however, PvP servers are soon to be added), and 2) the gameworld is divided into "islands" which make the game overall seem small, even though it is larger, and 3) Heroic and Epic mobs (overpowered mobs) which are peppered throughout the general zones instead of being properly placed in "special" areas for group and raid combat.)
The game I feel was truly my "first" and the game I started right after EQ was Asheron's Call (started it in Jan. 2000).
Overall it seemed the better game due to having one, large seamless world with huge areas of wilderness for exploring. It had a vigorous combat system with ample healing of many types so that players could fight mobs for huge lengths of time, and had tons and tons of dungeons and a monthly patch which advanced the storyline (The Shadow Wars). Also had a PK "switch" and one full PK server. The lore of the game I felt was intriguing, what with The Great Master, Bael'Zharon, Lord Atlan, Asheron, and other NPCs of lore and history.
Unfortunately, AC was plagued by rampant and repeated exploitation, sometimes so severe as to require server rollbacks of DAYS to undo the damage done by the cheaters and dupers. The "free XP pass-up" allegiance system was open and ripe for exploitation constantly and I felt was one of the worst features of the game right from the start.
Again, unfortunately, they had said from the start that there story-arc covered 18 months in real time, and this was the "classic" age of AC. After that storyline ended, in essence, the game ended -- seeing as how they began to repeat the process with the Virindi Wars which really never seemed to capture the imagination as the Shadow Wars had done.
By 2002, new games began to be released and AC became a shadow of its former self with the great "roleplayers" and older gamers departing the game leaving it to the leetd00dz.
~~~
So, while I have fond memories of the "old" AC times, I hope the following:
That my "favorite" game will be a game that is still to be released in the future.
With the advances in game technology and the experience developers have gained over years, perhaps we may all see our "favorite" game or games ahead of us ... instead of behind.
Star Wars Galaxies Pre-JTL was the first MMORPG I ever played and it still holds a place in my heart. I wish SOE wouldn't have messed up that game, it was awesome...
ummm let me think if u guys count runescape that was it the classic one which i thought was fricken insane!!!!!! then i met umm whats it called iunno anyways then i went back to runescape classic and im like what the hell am i doing here... then i became a runescape hater w00t! so no not for me it depends what game u start with!
My first MMOG was Ultima Online. And it was nowhere near my favorite... probably 4 or 5 down the list to be completely honest.
Anarchy Online is probably my favorite... if you judge it by play time.
well its kinda good; no lagging, right?
just because you play it online and it has no lag doesn't mean its a mmorpg...
My first MMO was Ragnarok Online, way back during alpha testing. It's not a bad game, just not my cup of coffee anymore.
