Alliance clans can build some sort of teleport system between plots, and gain a portion of the bonus of their allies for being in their plot.

A MMORPG that consists of multiple (at least 5) factions (Such as Horde v Alliance in WoW but with a minimum of 3 extra) where alliances can be formed or dissolved per cycle to create ever changing relationships and scenarios. Different factions may control different raw materials rarely found in other areas or certain triaining only learn't through that faction.
I missed a couple days coming on here...to me this thread looks like a snowball that just got rolled down the side of mountain. Some ideas, then some improvements, then actual discussion. I wouldn't be completely taken back if by next week we are playing the Text based M.U.D. that is inevitable if a thing like this starts to really get going, lol.

It wouldn't be a mmorpg.com thread if it wasn't full of people telling others their opinions/preferences are wrong. Many around here spend more time bashing other people's thoughts/ideas than they do expressing any of their own.
For me, less hand-holding/guidance/bread-crumb trails; give the player more responsibility in carrying out their tasks and locating places/things.
Funny thing is many of these posts describe the early days of SWG with corpse runs, player economy, complex crafting and resource gathering, player made houses, etc. The fact that resources and their quality chagned regularly by planet made resource gathering a skill and or profession.
Also Ryzom....the AI in that game was brilliant....the creatures seemed alive..the crafting system was also fairly complex. Most new games lack the depth of those two games.
I guess my wishes would be:

Wow was a one off, a lucky shot by Blizzard. Blizzard will never top wow, which is why they will run it and delay another mmo for as long as they possibly can (titan won't see the light of day for 5-10 years). No MMO will ever do what wow did and all this whole genre will be is what it is now. Smaller niche titles.

2) 1 or 2 Character per Account Maximum, (Mules Character that can build everything for yourself kills a good economy)
3) Open World PvP, there must be danger in the land to feel like the things you accomplish in it are really and accomplishment.
4) No instancing, every player should be able to go where any other player is even if the trip is going to end in a very quick death.
5) An Open Endgame... Where the Endgame begins the real game, not a game that needs a new patch every 3 months to give it new content....
6) Player Housing.... Totally customizable (aka Ultima Online and SWG)
7) Vendors NOT an AH.... No more stupid undercut, undercut, undercut. go to the one stop shop to buy everything... Let the players that have real dedication spend there time keeping there vendors stocked so they can once again earn a reputation in a game for being the best store!!! The AH has killed the ingame shopkeepers fun!
8) Multiple Game Phase IE Land and Sea or Planet and space....
9) Random Dynamic spawn, IE The most epic ever seen on the server unique MOB spawned next to the starter place for new players and people must rush to save the newbi's.... Basically anything could spawn anywhere with (Unique created Creatures controlled by GM's and random events)
10) Diplomacy like Shadowbane had were Guilds created Towns and those guilds pledged allegiance to bigger guilds and bigger towns.... NO Race restrictions anyone can back stab anyone at anytime....
11) Real Travel time- you get in a ship you sail to an island that's 40 Minutes away to find a group of players that end up kicking your butt and you die and spawn back at your home 40 Minutes Sail plus 10 Minute walk to the Coast and now without a boat to get back.....
12) Geographical and Weather matched resources to create a need for trade between groups that are a distance away... Like the desert region has lots of Oil and the Mountains lots of Iron, and the Forest lots of wood etc....
13) No silly radar or local list that says so and so is nearby,,, you have to look around and spot them with your own two eyes...
14) A real reputation system with consquences, you kill someone your not at war with that lives on the other side of the world then you take a minor hit, you kill someone in your own guild you take a major hit.... You get enough negative rep then there are serious drawbacks in game... However there should also be ways to earn back your reputation by doing deeds that are good aswell... No one ever goes Perma Red if you will....
15) Besides Crafting there is Farming and Animal Husbandry similar to say Wurm Online...
16) Taming similar to Ultima Online where you could tame some of the most powerful of all creatures but only ever have 1 out to fight with or maybe several lesser creatures....
17) Bards Music on the battlefield being used to agro mobs onto other mobs
18) Character appearance that changes with time... for example your character dies you have to chose a scar or a missing finger or a black eye etc.... as you age you periodically are given options to choose from that reflect your age.... even your height and bulk as you become stronger....
