Yep, everybody has their own taste. You can't force somebody to like something just like you can't stop somebody from liking what they like.
I didn't think i would play HS, but i got int the beta and tried it. HS is my first card game and I actually enjoy it a lot. On a side note I fucking love olives.
I enjoy Magic the Gathering and card games in general, but just watching the videos for this game has turned me off to playing it. It comes across as very "childish". I am looking forward to Hex more than this one.
Originally posted by NetSage My only issue with it is that there isn't a free version of arena (yes I know dailies basically give you the gold needed but it's the game type I find the most fun).
If you do decently in arena, you can basically keep going forever, even earning extra gold on top of the 150g arena fee. I think it's pretty well balanced. I personally think the concept of arena would be diminished if there was a free version (with no rewards at the end, of course). As it is now, that 150g is something to work toward in order to play the next arena, which then feels like a special series of games relative to normal play mode. If there's not that progression aspect to it, it doesn't feel the same imo.
Blizzard are a bunch of betrayers, i played world of warcraft for 8 years being subscriped also i played warcraft 2 & 3 every day till wow came out. and have i recieved a heartstone beta key? also being a devoted magic player for 15 years. NO i have not.
I see the card game craze here too over the last many years but it is something I could never get into no matter what the game. Outside of sports I grew up on roleplaying games (D&D, Rifts, etc) and tactical board games which ultimately evolved into playing Star Fleet Battles hardcore.
SFB is a game of such complexity that it takes years to master. When friends later tried to get me into Magic and other card games I found them to be far too simplistic. They lacked the imagination of a roleplaying game and severely lacked the strategy and complexity of a game like SFB.
IMO card games are an entry hybrid for people who haven't got into the other 2 extremes but if you are used to far more complex games you may find card games too simplistic to hold your attention. This is the case with me. That and I can't stand the whole lottery pack selling strategy.
Gimme some hearthstone! I can't even explain why I want to play it so much. I've been watching it since the first videos came out of it and I desperately want to play it. It's an addictive, easy game to play... The arena part of it, to me atleast, is just another little thing to add to my daily routine... 'Can't forget to do my dailys!'

I got into the beta about a month ago and it really is addicting. I have several characters over level 20 and just having a blast. Whenever I sit down to the computer and decide to play a game, I look over what I've got installed and almost always choose Hearthstone.
One of the the things I like about the game is that you can only chat with your friends. The emotes are enough during a match with opponents. Not having to listen to douchebags that think internet anonymity allows them to say whatever they want is a silver-lining in this game. With any luck, it will keep those sad excuses for human beings from playing the game. They can go play MMORPGs, which is where they belong anyway.
I'm with you. I dislike card games myself. Just nothing really exciting about them.... especially when played online.
One of the fun things about playing traditional card games (poker, blackjack, etc.,.) is playing with someone. You get to witness their body language, their 'tells', see their reactions to plays, et.c,...
I know Blizzard does a very good job of trying to create some of that feeling with sound effects, NPC dialogue, etc.,.. But in the end, it's not the same.
Again... I don't like card games like this or Magic. I also dislike Pokemon. I'll simply stay away from the game and find other things to do
Why can't you get into the game? I can answer that question for you, Bill. Because it's made by Blizzard. And you don't get cool points from your readers if you say anything nice about Blizzard.
I'd say its that draw to TCGs most have that cause people to be fasinated by it. Its an odd appeal to say the least but one that we can't help but enjoy getting those new 'shiny cards' and building a deck. We all know Luck plays a large part in the game, and we all know Hearthstone is far from being in depth as something say Magic the Gathering or perhaps the game it seems to inspire a lot of its design from, Shadow Era. It just tends to look quite polished and has an IP that does attract many people to it. I know personally I enjoy seeing the old Warcraft stuff, its refreshing to me as an old wow player who has no desire to go back to the rather lackluster current game that not exists in its place.
Really though, i think (for once) blizzards choice to try and make a casual focused game actually works. TCGs tend to excell at more casual play (thus the overabundance on mobile devices) and the polish and simplicty of Hearthstone makes it easy to get into and find interest in.
I feel though that once everyone can get in, the 'desire' of people to play it will likely drop and I'm sure it will probably be dropped as more of a 'casual time waster' in a months time.
After being an avid Magic the Gathering player for the better part of the last 2 decades, I thought I could get into it. After about 7 minutes that changed and I uninstalled it.
I tried it a few days for a couple hours at a time after buying a bunch of cards....thinking I was going to be into it.
Haven't touched it in over a week though. Just wasn't for me. To be fair though, I tend to only like real good Mmo's, course sadly there aren't any of those anymore either, heh.
I signed up with 2 accounts... got 2 invites finally and played for bout 10 minutes.. while i wont say anything about the game, since i cant recall if there is a NDA... i will say that after trying it.. i still play LON and am waiting for hex...
Don't feel obligated to play/obsess over everything Blizzard makes and you'll do just fine..
Between the blind faith in stuff like Titan, and Blizzard die hard fans pretending Diablo 3 doesn't exist to protect themselves, you should have a good idea...

My mate has it.
He also plays WoW.
He likes them both, I like neither.
As already mentioned, it's perfectly ok to not like a game, any game.
Cherish your individuality, and play what you do enjoy, that is after all why we play games, to enjoy them.

I haven't tried it but I wanna try it for fun.
Everybody is different, so everyone likes other things. That just makes us human. Also, Hope that Blizz will make the game open beta

You stay sassy!
Welcome to TCGs/CCGs. They're all pretty much p2w. Its the nature of the genre.
Is a man not entitled to the herp of his derp?
Remember, I live in a world where juggalos and yugioh players are real things.

Exactly. When has any TCG ever been anything other than P2W?
If you want an even playing field, then arenas are for you in Hearthstone. Sealed decks FTW.

This would be like me asking, "Why can't i get into watching golf on tv?"
Everybody likes different things, why make an article asking us why you don't like something, what a waste of space........ terrible.
Its a great, casual card game to play for anybody that enjoys TCG/CCGs. If you hate card games, you won't like it, as it is a card game........
GAME TIL YOU DIE!!!!
