Olives are horrible! I don't like card games as well.

I love the strategy, the individuality of deck building, and even the added randomness of card draws. This makes an irresistible combination to me. But if it leaves you cold, Hearthstone will not change your mind. It's a dumbed down( not always a bad thing), highly polished variant of M:TG. Just because Blizzard is making it doesn't mean you should like it. I hate RTS games, and StarCraft did nothing to change that. It's ok to not like this game, Bill.

This. You don't like card games.

I don't like racing games. never have, never will.

    Also, olives are horrible!

I concur completely. Olives, racing games, and card games are horrible. ;)

I love card games and I play a few (mainly bridge and poker) at a professional level with decent results. My pros and cons for Hearthstone are:

While knowing the opponent's hero-specific cards will help you have some form of control (you know what he can do, you know that mages have a lot of elimination cards, that priests can seriously boost health and power, druids can mana up fast etc), the "luck of the draw" aspect is way too strong. The amount of control that you have (which reduces to building your deck from the cards available to you, without knowing the class of your opposing hero) is not enough for me to even call this game a "strategic" one. I feel you are either forced into building a "good all around" deck for your hero (if that's even possible, i found it not to be the best method to win) or to build a specific deck (an offensive rush deck, or a defensive late game deck, or a control deck etc) and hope to draw an opponent which was not prepared to defend it. Too much luck for my taste.

I don't like the "collectible" aspect in this kind of games. It highly encourages big spenders, and the difference between normal and harder to get cards is sometimes depressingly high. The nasty crafting ratio (how much dust you get from disassembling cards vs how much you need to create a card you want - same level card ofc) makes this even more oriented to big spenders.

I like Arena Mode, I find it more fair. If the game will have some free Arena Mode (even if with no rewards) I'll play it.

A CCG when done right is so engrossing in its possibilities and mechanics it's almost frightening.  You can play Magic one evening at a competitive level and then spend the next 2 weeks going over plays in your head.  you can play it casually and spend your whole workday thinking up cool interactions to add to your decks.

I don't know yet if hearthstone is indeed "done right" because I ONLY USED MY ONE ACCOUNT TO GET A BETA KEY, NOT 300 NEW ACCOUNTS LIKE SOME FOLKS DID (grumble)

RIP Ribbitribbitt you are missed, kid.

    Currently Playing EVE, ESO

Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and not clothed.

I agree that the tablet version will help the games popularity tremendously.  There is something about the game that makes me want to play it while lying down in a mound of pillows and comforters, next to a fire.  I guess that’s why they call it HEARTHstone!

Millions will play this game because not many good titles are on the ipad and other pads.

I was done with card games 10 years ago with MTG, I still play once in a blue moon with friends but that is it. I might try this game if I am stuck in the airport with my ipad with nothing to play but that would be it....

All I can say is they are trying to create this new generation's MTG online virtually.

I will play it, the only thing that disturbs me are the 150 gold for arena and the small reward for playing constructed.

Theres a very simple reason I cant get into HS.

Once you win a few battles you are up against people with legendaries, epics, and 20 years of experience with TGC games. losing 8 in a row to the most mesmerizing stream of combos you can't even imagine are possible yet .. is pretty demoralizing.

and this game's ranking system is going to pretty much assure that this game doesn't "bring the genre to a whole new group of people" ...

LFD tools are great for cramming people into content, but quality > quantity.
I am, usually on the sandbox .. more "hardcore" side of things, but I also do just want to have fun. So lighten up already :)

Hearthstone is a game that gets boring quickly if you've ever played a proper TCG/CCG in your life.  Most of the hype comes from people that earn a living by uploading videos on Youtube or casual gamers that don't normally play card games.  Yeah, it's a high quality game that can be fun at times but it's Pay to Win as hell and gets boring fast.

You basically have three options:  Unranked, Ranked or Arena.  There's nothing else to do in the game except build a deck with your crappy selection of cards.  Unranked can be good fun but forget about Ranked unless you're willing to spend money on the game or have a year of free time.

Basically, Hearthstone is a hollow experience with very little to offer.  You can spend $20 or slave away on daily quests for 6 months to a year for the same amount of cards.  Good luck!              (BTW You'll have to spend a lot more than $20 to have a Metagame deck.)
