131119 ? us$700 for a gaming pc? even a mediocre gpu alone would be $300 (gtx 770 or r9 280x) a 256GB ssd should be ok for a sysyem drive ($160) sata3 W7 (no sp1 spyware/backdoor) the 2TB hd ($100) sata2 for archive storage, antique 500GB hd are like $35 not to mention 27" monitor are near $300 plus assembly cost ~$100 since you are replacing mobo 600W power supply 80+ ($100)
tough to get a system for < $1k ps when the 7970 came out they were $500, the 280x (28nm) is only $300 with over 4Tflop performance at about 65*C, a gtx770 should be closer to 70*.
