Reasons why NOT to play SWG.

1. The poor management of SOE.
2. The poor service of SOE.
3. The bugs that the game has.
4. Every publish since its launch has created new bugs in the game.
5. SOE regularly making promises to fix broken areas of the game and end up ignoring it completely.
6. The lack of concern SOE has for the majority of its customers over the last couple of years.
7. SOE deceived its customers with the introduction of the expansion ToOW which led them to offer a refund to avoid legal troubles.
8. SOE radically changes the game almost every year to date and in the process wastes time their customers spend on the progression of their accounts changing the characters and up to 99% of their game items into trash to be deleted.
9. The community is smaller than at any other time in its years steadily sliding downhill with a severely challenged and empty in game economy.
10. Any progression people now playing will be soon extinguished in the death of SWG or another severely radical game change.

Technically, SOE radically changed SWG after slighly less than 2 years and followed with another radical change 6 months later.
9. The community is smaller than at any other time in its years steadily sliding downhill with a severely challenged and empty in game economy. True at this point in time but the future is uncertain. Tradeskills and economy are in question until the "promised" trader revamp after the first of the year.
10. Any progression people now playing will be soon extinguished in the death of SWG or another severely radical game change. Possible in any game, however SOE has a definate history of making radical change without ever looking back.

I have literally played every SOE game they have produced since 2000. Their history is quite clear. They change their games mid stride, in fact, IIRC only EQ lasted more than 2 years without having a complete overhaul of the game mechanics. I have discussed my feelings about SOE as a company several times on these boards elsewhere, but I will sum up here: I have misgivings about all of my playtime within every SOE game I have played. However, I feel that I have received, in return for my money, roughly 5 years of entertaining gameplay in their games. I do not like SOE the company, but they have produced several games that I did like at least for a time. I do not think any other mmorpg producing company has given me as much good online play as SOE. There are better companies and better games, but overall SOE puts out games that satisfy my attention span. Note that I do not play 1 single game for years on end, I tend to jump around every 8-12 months and SOE's bad history has actually played positively into my experience.

Ya know... It's quite obvious that people have more problems with SOE instead of the actual game itself. People expect their administration to be perfect, but they make mistakes too. It's when they do that they become blown up to gigantic proportions. It's a shame really.

You'd think at this point in SWG's history, we'd be looking for reasons TO play the game, instead of gorging ourselves on the negative. I know I've had my fill of it for the next two years.

My only problem with SOE is that they FUBRed a game that I loved to play so much that I was more than glad to pay $50.00 for the original game and then $15.00 per month to play.

I liked it so much that I bought two more copies of the game. This brings my investment up to $150.00 for Original games, $45.00 per month to play, and dont forget the expansions for three accounts, so at this point I have spent well over $300.00 in buying the games and well over $1100.00 in fees to play the game all to build up my characters and then log in one day to find them nerfed to no end and the game unplayable for me.

I dont expect anyone to be perfect, must less SOE administration; I just wish they werent so stupid.

You know Sky... You posted on another thread that you played this game since launch. But posts like these and others were you say that SOE has told "half-lies" really make me question that! Were you really here when the game started? If so, I guess you've forgotten every blatant lie SOE told the smugglers. So please take a minute to read this and "refresh" your memory:

You are pathetic. SOE is one of the most deceitful game publishers out there. They mislead, deceive and outright lie continuously and you think this is OK? As for SWG. If SOE had been working hard to fix the game they had instead of totally rewriting it and wasting time, resources and money on the NGE we wouldn't be here now - we'd be playing SWG. The pre-NGE game was broken and instead of fixing it and the things wrong with it, SOE/LA decided that it would be better to leave it broken, launch a bogus expansion and then unleash an alpha state rewrite of the game.

Bah...all this has been said before, and it is all water under the bridge. SOE/LA made this bed so now they can lay in it. SWG will be the next entry in the book of "How Not To Make An MMORPG" right next to AC2.

I suggest you reread this thread and then take a read at all the other threads. If you want the best example go play the game ,you may like it at first till you start experiencing the bugs and broken proffesions/areas/loots/economy/community and if you have hopes of playing it long term (since that is why most people play MMORPGs) go ahead try it and watch SOE/LA ruin you game items, not fix most of the bugs and change the game negating your progress and work wasting any time you invest in an MMORPG.
However reading the reviews from people who have played the game and have experience being a SOE/LA/SWG customer will give you the insight you seek if you can soak it in I guess(maybe you cant, I dunno you but its here and there and everywhere). Sure you will see a couple people telling you how great it is and they like it but you will also see tons and tons of people telling you quite the opposite.

Btw, I just downloaded the trial, and I noticed that you can start as a Jedi Class?

I thought Jedi was something that took forever and a day to achieve?

Ok, the game sucks, and just sucked less before this rewamp... But are you not taking this a bit too personally? You are just whining about SOE and some complete strangers that are incompetent at their jobs. If you want to whine about incompetent people.. take up politics.

This is a game.. tell people what is wrong with the game and you will have a valid argument going. "Whaaaaaa, SOE is tha devul" is just childish whining.

They negated or changed the game use of a great many of game items often renduring them utterly usless (some which took many many hours to get through difficult quests or killing very hard mobs. etc and many items that were used in crafting that crafters would mass because they used to be worth something, also a great many items that crafters crafted and stocked)
They alos negated 34 different proffesion (players had favorites and established characters that took in some cases a great deal of time to develop as well as collecting rare modded items and weapons that enhanced those professions which negated hundreds of hours of work and credits people spent to acquire the items/weapons/development) and replaced the professions with 9 professions that are generic in some ways and many of them are not even complete and or broken.

Jedi use to be something that was relativly rare (pre CU) but the secrets got out about how to achieve that class and because of the poor design of the jedi path was fast leading to them being almost as common as they are now, but ya it did take a while in most cases (SOE messed up a few times with their publishes which caused rollbacks and negated hard work players put in gaining xp/etc so they tried to compensate this by giving players double and even quadruple xp for short periods of time excelling jedi progression-some people were able to grind a jedi in a weeks time due to this).

BTW it has been posted that the free trial isn't even like the game so you may not get a good feel of the actual game from the trial...

Torres did state on national TV (G4) that they were not finished with the game yet....I could understand if it wasnt an MMORPG why people would still play an often radically changing game but being a MMORPG people just end up wasting the time they put into it developing their characters.

SOE/LA has proven to the people who played SWG that you will end up just wasting your time and money for this MMORPG. You can say "ya I had fun when I played so it wasnt wasted" but personaly I can get that from DoD(or a great many other games) and save tons of bucks....MMORPGs are for people who want to play a game and develop the character/creature/ship whatever the player is centered on and have its progress saved not destroyed.

You say it has nothing to do with my dislike for SOE or SWG, your partly right as I dont really feel a hate or dislike for them at all, I do feel like I am fed up with they way they treated their customers and since I have an amount of time I once chose to play an MMO which was SWG and I no longer play it, I have decided to use the time to post on different forums and tell any who arent aware that its a bad idea to play and support SOE/LA because of the way they have done buisness. (and if you already are aware and dont want to hear it, then move your ass on unless you think you can debate it with me).

I have said it several times before Warsong, if you stick to your opinions about entities rather than people your points are not that far off. It is after your first post on each subject that you lose track of your arguement and just become downright arguementative for absolutely no reason. Ummm. We have no game to play to keep us out of the forums so after our chores and taking care of our real-life issues, we come here to post because we can and will. Get over it. Better yet, go play your game if you love it so much instead of nosing in our posts looking to argue with us. We can hate the game just as much as you love it. We can post just as you can.
