The one thing I remember about Firefall is the ridiculous amount of advertising money they spend on the tournament bus way before the game was even closely done. What really puzzles me was the decision to suddenly scrap the pvp aspect of the game... uh huh money well spend i'd say...

Tried the game twice after "launch" couldnt get into it. It seemed better in beta but things changed I guess. I thought it was gonna be more borderlands ish but I felt I was running around in that game no knowing what to do at all.  The tutorial was long and didn't explain much when I was let go into the main game.

The game was hurting as there was no clear path forward. A lot of old timers (as in two year vets) said that the game used to be better than it is today (not a good thing). They need to step back and look at the big picture and plan a way forward. Stop worrying so much about the market and stop item decay (a stupid mechanic). I remember one night about two months ago when Mark logged into the game and said "hi I am the ceo of Firefall" and "how are you guys liking the game?".  Sad he had to lose his job, but it will hopefully lead to better things in Firefall (which as a mmo shooter has huge potential).

I actually like item decay. Its one of the thing that made firefall "stand out" for me. Seriously, people need to stop complaining and realize that a little "sting" (like item decay) when you die is a GOOD thing. I'm bored of games that let you die over and over with no consequence. It trivialize content.

I don't know if you have played in awhile, but item decay no longer occurs just when you die. Now, you re also losing durability (and at a high rate) in the game just for using an item, which means all your gear breaks after so many hours/days based on even simple things like how much you walked, jumped, or even by getting aggroed for just passing by a mob (the system considers you in action).

As you can expect, complaints about durability has only gotten worse. And this on top of everything else wrong with the game, like lack of content, more and more focus on an economy that can't be fixed, lack of direction, etc. So while the news of Mark Kern's ousting was shocking, ultimately no one playing the game is overly surprised. (At least most aren't. The fanboys are still high on the Kool-aid so it will be awhile before they fully understand it.)

He lacked direction as a result of that a lot of money and time ended up being wasted with that said I am surprised he was removed, because removing him does not make the situation better at this point it actually makes it worse.
