Imho small-scale PvP is where the skill and fun is.

    1v1 to 8v8.

You never played RvR then. You should really try it, then you would make different comments about large scale PVP.

Classes in ESO is only a jumping off point.  Please read up on how they are doing skills/combat.  90% of these threads are misinformed conjecture.  The information is out there and it's public knowledge.

i too am excited for the PvP in this game.  If it wasn't for that I prob wouldn't be that interested tbh.

  • JJ82 nailed it.  I remember starting out as a Hib in DAoC and how miserable it was.  Balance issues plagued DAoC for as long as I remember playing the game (~4 years) and it was a constant complaint on the forums.  I never understood why Mythic choose to make things more difficult on themselves by not having the same classes across all 3 realms.  I don't have an issue at all with TESO doing that.  It makes perfect sense to me.

DAoC relied heavy on crow controll.... it was what made combat interesting... these days there is not enough crowd controll left, making the game effectively a one way to play only.... or without mass crowd controll, a zerg is the best way to go...

back in DAoC two parties of 8 could kill a full raidforce of over 100 men...

TESO PvP will be a copy of GW2 WvWvW...  which also ended in zerg vs zerg... a reason a big RvR DAoC fan like me ended up playing the smalltime PvP instances in gW2 and liking them better...

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

It sounds more like a lame mash up of GW 2 and WAR than like DAOC to me. The almost complete lack of excitement about TESO among current and former DAOC players compared to their misguided excitement shown prior to GW 2's release is telling.

    DAOC Live (inactive): R11 Cleric R11 Druid R11 Minstrel R9 Eldritch R6 Sorc R6 Scout R6 Healer

Graphic wise, when DAoC was released the graphics were pretty amazing. The graphics for ESO don't appeal to me at all. People tend to forget that back before SI and everything that came after it the quests for your epic armor was actually quite hard to figure out. Every game now just tosses a big red blob on the map that says run here to finish the quest. ESO's quest system is far too easy. I might have bought the game and played it if not for that terrible skyrim like combat system.

From video's posted the combat actually looks worse then Skyrim.  Sad really, and I hope they can fix it.  When people like Totalbiscuit, Jesse Cox and Force Strategy all say the combat is pretty lackluster now then that's saying something.

Can you link those videos please?

I follow all three of those guys but can't ever remember hearing any of them mention ESO. Be interresting to see their take on it.

I know TB was not a huge fan of Skyrim, but didn't think he cared much for MMO's these days.

Force is a big MMO fan, im surprised i missed that video.

Expresso gave me a Hearthstone beta key.....I'm so happy :)

This will maybe rather not totally feel like a Elder Scrolls skinned SWTOR.

Warhammer & Swtor had a lot of complains that there was too much crowd control hehe =)

Basically, there's nothing new that can be introduced to MMO gaming  that's actually going to contribute in a positive way.  Older more difficult games re skinned with newer graphics are probably going to be more fun than expensive experiments.

The only way to prove anything is to buy the game and try it, which I plan to do :D

Just with this few things above I am already sold. Cant wait 3 more months for it to release!

Will be interesting to see how long it can stay subscription based. I hope the subscription model isn't completely dead, as I much prefer this model to any other for several reasons.

As for the rest of your points, I agree on all of them. [mod edit]
