Have they released anything on whether or not vampires and werewolf will be a race that you become during the game that gives you a vampire perk tree or will it just be a few perks call vampire blood or something in random perk tree.

Looking for some solid evidence or speculations for this Forum.

I want an mmorpg where there are people roleplaying in game. An mmo with a good community and as always awesome gameplay.

Players that are vampires should be shunned by NPCs and NPC Towns / Villages. They should also have their own "underground" cities , villages , merchants..ect. Should be something a player should have to stop and think about and it not be just a flat out buff.

Im interested in how they will control things from becoming all about that one subject matter.

If it is like other MMOs, then narratively there is only one player character.

More skill lines will be added but most likely in line with the lore with restrictions as required. As it stands though anyone walking into most town and cities in Tamriel as a necromancer would likely be killed on sight.

Actually, it depends on the time period and the location.  For instance, the College of Winterhold in Skyrim doesn't frown on Necromancy, it considers it just a subset of conjuration.

Well, to be fair, if we replace the cultural norms of this decade with those of the 80s, or vice versa, Lost Boys and Twilight are basically the same movie. ;)  The times, they have a-changed.

Vamps and Warewolves were not liked as well.

    Heh I know :)

There is some elements of faction reaction to what you do as mentioned but I have no idea how detailed it is. They plan on adding things like reputation for stealing so I would really hope this expands to vampire and werewolves too. Not sure if it just assumed players will considered hiding it but I'd love to see far more detail in this area.

Don't get me wrong. I'd like to see many more schools of magic, guilds, weapons, etc added but some things with restrictions relevant to lore. Hopefully a 4th skill line in each class but the greater impact to the game is to add skill lines outside of classes so everyone can access them. That way the class system is little more than a slight restriction for a very few skill lines.

Let it be known that you can pick a class in this game and use NONE of that classes skills if you so want.

    You stay sassy!

Would probably be a good idea if people didn't put things in their posts that they would only know if they played beta, since in that case sharing the knowledge would violate the NDA.

I agree please don't violate the NDA on this thread.

Anyone have any speculations on the vampire abilities we might get in game or the limitations vampires or werewolves should have so there not over powered.

Yes. There are videos and articles around where they talk about it. Both vampirism and lycanthropy will be skill lines. No ideas if they will have multiple actives and passives plus ultimates or just an active or two and some passives...we'll have to wait for the NDA to lift to get more details.

Even the weekend beta testers don't know. You'd pretty well have to be in the full beta with higher level characters to even have seen it.

I really hope they limit it in some way. Or so many people are going to play one that it will ruin the game for me. TES is not a vamp/warewolf game. Even if you became one, you were still rare in the population of the game. If tones of people take this path it will end up feeling like some Twilight knock off. Towns fokke should not do business with you but some back door shady types. Some guilds should want nothing too do with you, like the fighters and mage guild.

Rare?  Werewolves were fairly prominent in Skyrim, and once Dawnguard is installed, there are vampires all over the place, and NPCs constantly mentioning vampires.  Daggerfall had a bunch of vampire clans.

lol, for what's it's worth, there were a shit ton of "Ancient Vampires" in Daggerfall as well :P

I had always figured Twilight wouldn't infect the people outside it's fan-base very much, but it seems nowadays you can not mention the two fantastical creatures without the series coming up at least once. I highly doubt those that want to play a Vampire or Werewolf in ESO want to do it for paranormal romance RP.

Twilight has little to do with people wanting to play vampires and werewolves.

I ran into quite a number of them on City of Heroes even before Twilight existed.

More on topic: yes, it'll be possible since it gets mentioned in one of the official videos; the "Be what you want to be" one (or something along those lines) if I'm not mistaken.

I think it will depend some on whether they take an approach more like Daggerfall, or more like Skyrim.  Daggerfall had multiple vampire clans, and what abilities you got were based on which clan infected you.  Whereas in Skyrim (prior to Dawnguard) a vampire was a vampire, all identical.  I doubt we will see a Dawnguard style shapeshifting vampire with completely different gameplay while morphed, but I could be wrong.

I think how strong the limitations are should be in direct proportion to how strong the abilities are.  If what you get from being a vampire or werewolf is different only in flavor, not in strength, then the inconveniences should be minor.  If it is a substantial power, it should incur substantial penalties.  Skyrim did werewolves pretty much perfectly, as of the Dawnguard adjustments to the form.  When not in werewolf form, there are no benefits, and almost no negative consequences.  When in werewolf form, almost every NPC in the game is automatically hostile to you.

I am more inclined to get the vamp skill line but only if I like the abilities. Sorry Team Jacobs.

That could also make them too OP. Personally I think they should just have 10 rare skill lines that are a wicked complement too the skill lines. Really above average but you can only pick one per char. Make it as meaningful as picking your class. Dont do this lightly.  That real hard core RPGing, decisions that matter. Lets get Morrowind on this game.

I thought you said hardcore?  Forget Morrowind, let's get Daggerfall up in here.

Kind of reminds me in SW:ToR when I was afraid everyone was going to play a Jedi.  And then I realized, 75% of the population was a Jedi of either tank. dps, or healing fashion - and that was the game's fault.  Anyone remember SWG?  You had to earn that stuff - until the last expansion...then suddenly, everyone was a Jedi.

I can only imagine how many wolves and vampires there will be.  Without limitations, it's going to be nonsense.

I remember the star wars games well and I do hope they have limitation on them just not so harsh that vampires become a broken class.

Does anyone have any ideas on some limitations they might out on vampire and werewolves that will make them them fun and fair to play as?

Yea but they could make it so unless you are not wearing a necromancers robe you  wont be attacked or flagged as pvp.

I could live with that, would make it special to be a necromancers outside towns and villages, I wouldnt care if it would be un-balanced since Necromancy has always been frowned upon and hunted in tamriel.

Yeah. I want to be a necromancer more than either vampire and werewolve. It sounds very interesting to play as an evil force in the game.

If ZOS want to create a game that we play whatever we want to play, Necromancer guild should be a good idea.

  • Skeeter50Skeeter50 Member UncommonPosts: 147

I enjoy playing games that have not been ruined by bad ideas from outside the main developer.

ZOS, please never take any advice about your game.

They will be in at launch.

They expect people to spec as vamp/wolf hunters through the fighter guild skill line to counter.

they will have great benefits as well as severe drawbacks to compensate.

the process to be infected will be an involved, hidden one and quite possibly random (speculation.)

they have said all of this already.

no.  I'm not linking it because I'm tired, but it's the interview with konkle and all the fan sites where he goes into it.  2hr one on youtube.
