THEY CANT MAKE MMORPG GAMES FOR CONSOLES!!! consoles are useless for mmorpg games and fps games. So keep playing pc and dont think that you can play WoW at xbox 360. its not true
i really can't see mmorpgs being on consoles. for one thing they would have to release a keyboard controller to have all the hotkeys needed for mmorpgs. a regular controller wouldn't even come close to cutting it.

I am pretty sure that some info about an Xbox 360 port for WoW did leak out somewhere along the line. As I remember it the story went something like this. Blizzard was approached about making an X-Box 360 version of their game. they looked at the issue and came back with three major problems.
1. Lack of standard keyboard and mouse and no formal hardware support for them. (X-box has always disdained PC type controls in part to prevent it from being modded into a cheap gaming PC or linux box.)
2. Lack of standard hard drive. remember only the top end Xbox 360 comes with the hard drive. Hard to do a MMORPG without it.
3. Xbox Live. remember all online gaming and all subscription gaming for Xboxs goes through this service. making the current game work within that framework was not something that was high on Blizzards to do list. Why license the game to a third party that would be competing directly with your own services within your primary market?
As I said this is just my vague recollection of something a read in an interview somewhere. I seem to recall they finished by indicating that while Blizzard has not made any formal decision regarding console versions Xbox or otherwise, it isn't something that is on any way on the horizon.
As I said those were just something I read in an interview somewhere. One of the Bliz devs was asked about an Xbox port and indicated that they had been asked about one, but that those three items were the technical hurdles, and that they really weren't looking to do it at this time. I wish I remember where the interview was posted. I think it might have been related to Blizzcon in some way. While he didn't go into specifics beyond the problem was hard drive, keyboard/mouse and Xbox live, the deeper reasons behind why those three things are an issue are pretty well known and understood. So rumor, yes, more or less, based on something I recall reading. But not outrageous, and probably fairly accurate.
Sadly each of the next generation consoles appears to have 1 and only 1 of the features that would be needed for a true client of a current MMORPG. The Xbox has a Hard Drive (at least as an option) The Playstation has the broadband access without the required third party portal, and the Nintendo has the mouse like controller and enhanced/specialized controller support.
Why do people keep saying it wont work becuase of the controler? Even when they were told Ps2, Xbox 360 and ps3 can use keyboards? I have a ps2 keyboard, headset, and hardrive. I bet that all three of them also will work on the ps3.
If WoW does come out for ps3 (not xbox 360 **** paying another subscription fee) I will buy and play on the ps3. Only if they make a voice communication built into WoW. You cant raid in WoW without ventrillo/ts. I bet they are thinking about it but don't bet on it.
Anyway I would bet that majority of the 2007-8 mmorpgs would move to consoles.

Right now what I think causes the most issues regarding the controllers is the cost of entry. Most game developers do not want to make a game that requires several pieces of optional addon hardware, as that drastically reduces the amount of units that will be sold, and drastically increases the amount of product returned. Do the math, figure $50 for the boxed game + $20-$30 for a keyboard + $20-$30 for a mouse + ~ $100 for an add on harddrive + in some cases an additional subscription fee above and beyond the dedicated service fee (Xbox Live), it adds up quick, and really reduces the amount of product sold and the continuing subscriptions.
You will not start seeing real MMORPG's on consoles until they start to package at least some of the needed hardware with the base unit, or at the very least until they start to package a simple inexpensive accesory kit to support them.

This guy wins the thread. It is in fact Microsoft's very intention to pull Vanguard to the 360 due to the intimate relationship it has with the XML tech they've created. Who knows if it will ever happen though. The plan calls for full intergration between Xbox users and PC users, full voice support, among other ambitious features.
But WoW on Xbox 360 is laughable. It isn't even much of an insult to call anyone who would think it an idiot because it is so obvious.

Maybe Blizzard are releasing a game for PS3.

Simple. Games that require optional hardware never sell good.
