Gender makes no difference to me. I prefer older though, like 30+. More real world experience tends to make one a better leader.
That is generally true but there are plenty of exceptions. I eventually found out that my guildleader back in AoC was old and retired while one of the other officers were just 17 and I never would have guessed the age of either if they didn't discussed it in the officers chat.
Yup, always exceptions. I never join a guild without chatting with the guild leader for a few minutes. If I like what I see I'll join regardless of age.

Because every guy who plays MMOs is an Adonis? ROFLMAO! Riiiiight.
The amazing amount of misogynist bias in some posters on this thread is astounding. I'm no feminist but this is unbelievable.

Originally posted by Meion I've come to see that many serious pve/pvp guilds in games are lead by guys. yea, you would create a new account for this question wouldn't you.
Sure, why not? As long as their boyfriends / girlfriends / spouses aren't in the guild, I see no problems. Same applies to male guild leaders / officers as well BTW. In every guild I've been a part of, having a spouse or significant other in a position of power over the other simply doesn't end well.

And some people wonder why playing solo is sometimes preferred in MMOs....
Personally, don't care about the gender (or even the competance) as long as they are fun people.
If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.
Was in one in BC wow. We raided the whole expac and got through about half of BT before things fell apart. Not due to them being women just stupid crap. So no I would have no problems joining a guild like that again.
Playing: FFXIV, DnL, and World of Warships Waiting on: Ashes of Creation

You forget that 99% of that is trolling.
Why do people troll feminists? -Because its easy.
Why do people troll Green Peace? -Because its easy.
Why do people troll religious people? -Because its easy.
All of the aforementioned will blow up in your face for the slightest encouragement. People aren't half as intolerant, misogynistic or indifferent about conserving the nature as they seem to be.
Don't make an issue out of this.

For every girl/woman in the U.S. that you find without the sense of entitlement, you will find ten who have it. It simply is not worth the time trying to weed through the many cases of princess syndrome in order to find one American woman who is worth knowing.
Here, have a little racism to go along with your sexism.... Most've the guilds I've been in have actually had women in ssome sort of leadership position and they do just as good a job as their male counterparts in general (sometimes better). I hate being in guilds led by immature people and not wanting to be in a guild led by a woman shows a really immature attitude so I'm just as glad if I never end up in guilds with some posters in this thread.
I wouldn't join a guild led by neither boys nor girls. A guild leader needs maturity enough to be called man or woman. And even among those, the gender of the leader is irrelevant.

in all the MMO's i've played, based on the names of the guilds i've seen in these games, i would have to say that maturity is somewhat in short supply, but yeah, gender is entirely irrelevant.
As an adult I strictly join adult only guilds therefore any leaders who are not men are women ... not girls. In mmos, just as in real life, I make it very clear to those I discover are very young that I am an adult male and consideration of the age difference must be established. This is not judgement placed upon the youth but rules I follow to avoid conflict and awkward situations most commonly caused by older players paying little concern over the age differences of players in mmos.
Just keeping a little old fashioned respect for differences in age can go a long way in avoiding the many problems created by mixing age groups together. Finding common ground can only occur once differences are identified. This said I still try avoid all this by simply joining adult only guilds. Granted this only means I now have to deal with far more thick headed adults but at least the differences tend to be more intriguing due to expanded back stories.
What I usually suggest in online games (if brought up) is to imagine interacting together in real life in the same room. Would you speak the exact same way to someone over twice or less than half your age as someone your own age? If you put serious thought into it you will likely discover that the answer is no.
Does the OP mean to keep this discussion about youth oriented guilds in mmos or is the use of the word "girl" mean all women? I only ask because when I see the word "girl" I think of it the same as seeing/hearing the word "boy" likely because I do not like being called "boy" to my face. Someone calling me "boy" to my face is in serious risk of immediate diminished health.
In the guilds I do play in I simply hold each leader to their own actions independent of their sex. I've played along side both male and female officers/leaders who did a great job and also those who were soap opera drama queens. The sex of the person means little to me online. I do not start personal relationships online. I keep complete separation between online and real life intimate social interaction. Connecting the two breads local community and social disconnection. One's real life must always be their primary focus. That said I have met some incredible people in games and if our lives ever came together regionally I am sure there could be a great friendship. If left in game then "online friends" will rarely go beyond "real life acquaintance".
I think the counter questions would be Would you join a guild lead by people who wouldn't join a guild based on the leaders race, sex, sexuality or religion and not their ability and character?

I did in Lord of the Rings Online.
Yes, and I have pics to prove it if needed

It really comes down to how the individual is. Some girls I can't stand, some guys I can't stand.
Lots of sexism in this thread lol.

How do you even know a man posted that, Mr. Ford? That seems a little sexist in itself, to not assume
a woman gamer could **** with your mind with an obvious sarcastic. non-serious comment that was just begging

You stay sassy!
I have been in MANY guilds over the years with both male and female leaders.
Women can be incredible gamers, in fact women dominate my top gamer positions, best pvper, best tank, best healer, best officer, best leader...
That being said EVERY ounce of guild drama over the last 20 years is 1000% the creation or result of a female gamer or her actions.
I honestly believe women can not help themselves they get bored easily and have to see what chaos they can create.
