Treasure maps? You mean the stuff doesn't just appear in your bag? People will have to explore in order to get their shiny baubles? That's about the most interesting thing I've seen concerning this whole preorder announcement.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

They're like WoW chests that lay around. I guess you could compare maps to the dwarf racial ability to find treasure.
Looks like they are trying to cash in hard as long as they still can.
If behind that heavy pricing there would be actual confidence in the product, they would have dropped the NDA before enabling preorders.
If they lacked confidence in the product, they would be offering a lifetime subscription. And no, I won't change that opinion if they suddenly offer a lifetime sub, it will be a sure indication that they expect the free option to come sooner rather than later. (The later is inevitable, for every game.)
Really and thats is why, WOW is sub base, and EVE, oh and even Asheron call 1, after 14 years, its still sub based.
I perfer subs that way have to deal with whiney little people, who whine about prices.
When I got get a nice rib dinner for my wife and I I spent about 50-60 bucks, so i'm a bit confused how people think for a game, thats is expensive.
Game engines, cost thousands, and thousands, for each software that is needed, 3DS Max, Maya, animation software, Photoshop, little programs here and there, all cost over 3k , they need to buy these programs for each person..
Next they need to buy programs, like NDO2, AND Dd20, and the list goes on...
I would love for you to make a game, and listen to people whine about the costs of a game, that costs millions to make, and they need to pay DEVS, advertisement ,servers, etc , etc..
I mean cmon people, really, I played baseball and bowling as a kid, and I had to spend 120 bucks every 6 months for a new bowling ball, I had t buy equipement, baseball even worse, because I was a catcher, and this was 20 years ago..
Your hobbys are dirt cheap and yet people whine!! Work for living would ya!
It's not about entitlement, or wages. It's about relative prices. ESO's price isn't compared to ESO, it's compared to other possible offerings. For instance, the price of Skyrim because it's an Elder Scrolls game or the price of another MMO/MMORPG. Even the price of other single player games that might be far less expensive.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

Don't forget an account wide mount. (and a nice one at that)
Blizzard usually charges 25$ for those.
So no, not such a bad deal at all - but do keep on fixating on the race.
There are 9 other races, so big deal about an extra race with no real character back story at the game opening. If you were going to bitch about this, you were obviously going to bitch anyway The mounts is good, the crab is a joke, and the armour recipes maybe handy. You can find the recipes and the horse in the game anyway... SO sorry the game isn't being played the way you like it, take your ball and go home!!!
Good day to be patient! Out of principle alone I will not participate in the 3 folds money grab scheme (box + sub + cash shop). Soon their greed will backfire and prices will be slashed in half or less, only then will I play. It seems to me MMO games in the past few years have turned into a "let's milk as much money as we can before the game fails" kind of business. They are no longer into building a sustainable user-base by working on making the game better continually and attracting customers through long free beta periods, free gaming months and long free trials. Getting as many users as possible is no longer the priority, money is.

Going forward, that probably isn't going to leave you many new MMOs to choose from.
Peace is a lie, there is only passion. Through passion, I gain strength. Through strength, I gain power. Through power, I gain victory. Through victory, my chains are broken. The Force shall free me.
I heard it's more like a single player game that you play online with other people playing a single player game. I'm going with my gut and passing on this ripoff.
Buy the over-priced "Imperial" edition and get your very own "I WIN" button and there's also a monthly fee (understandable) but also have a store? These guys are beyond greedy. Ah, the good old days when gamers made games without any tricks to bleed you dry, you had access to everything, had EVERYONE start on exactly the same footing AND games STAYED THAT WAY.... and we played and paid the monthly fee happily for years because it was fair and the game was programmed for FUN, never to increase store sales or force-sell special editions with loads of swag that are needed to avoid grinding and having a very slow start.
These aren't games these are rip-offs pretending to be games.
Why waste so much money and time when there are so many awesome single/multi player games out there. With all the games who break their promises on delivery, you'd have to be 3 sunday's short of a retard to pre-order.

You must be pretty deluded to see preorder bonuses as the start of a cash shop.
Guess that is what you must expect of the internet these days...
I agree, every company offers something with thier CE, and I have yet to see anywhere posted by ZOS that these items will be available after launch in a store, some folks just like to twist things around and talk out thier backsides..

Mounts in wow are for long time now account wide. To any char are available all mounts any of them have ever purchased. And no, no charge, all free ... actually for ingame money. All the rest is for fun and unique mounts if somebody like.
But anyway ...only reason that prevent me to buy immediately is that silly limit of 7 or so active buttons. That was main reason have stopped and I'm not comming back to TSW.
Exactly, nothing in the Imperial Edition is essential to gameplay at all. Everyone can learn Imperial crafting, the horse is simply a different color (same stats as other in-game horses), the pet is a vanity item, and the race is something that we weren't being allowed to play anyway as of a week ago, so nobody could have expected to have it, and it should be well balanced. The rings I believe can be obtained in game eventually as well.
The $20 extra fee for these items is reasonable. Look at how much other games charge for their CE, and compare. Neverwinter, even Skyrim, look at those prices, and look at our $80 or $100 versions.
As far as the preorder bonuses, those are FREE with ALL versions of the game. They are by no means a cash grab. Everyone who pays as little as $48 (GMG digital std with coupon) gets all of those bonuses.
If ZOS wanted to really make a cash grab they could have increased the prices a bunch and made the Explorer's Pack an additional add-on instead of free. I think they are being quite reasonable with us and am very pleased with everything pertaining to the release prices and contents.
All of my guild members but one who have reported their purchases, have now bought the Imperial Editions of the game. It's just a good value especially if you use the GMG coupons, for a game we will be playing for years to come. And in the physical box, that statue will be worth more than $20 down the road, trust me.

Honest i don't get why you most of you are whine about cash shop and that cost way to much here in sweden if i want CE from one of sweden biggest game compnay on there homepage it will cost me 1295 kr that is with VAT but if i order for ESO webpage CE it will cost me 699 kr so basically i could almost get 2 CE for same price the charge for 1 CE on swedish webpage only if i add 200 kr more and funny thing is that standard cost same on both webpage 499 kr so who is try to get most money from who i would say swedish webpage.
Wooow you whine that use CE to add 1 more race and that is "cash shop" have you guys play SWTOR where you can unlock all race with real money in there cash shop and no one whine about and WoW have add 3 cash shop button which i think the will soon start add thing to well the are go add lvl 90 char boost and you guys do know to make "cash shop" work you need to have ingame access to call it "cash shop".
So what the want to gave some extra to the people that buy CE if you buy CE to WoW what do get a pet and maybe mount yeah that really make people what to buy CE when and also do think it is cheap to make game should have right to get some money back don't you Wildstar will do something like this to there CE???
Before you whine about price on game check around on other internet game shop before you start whine about price for me it is cheap to buy ESO on there web page if i want CE beside a CE is special edition which mean you should get some extra form and honest i think nice you play special race no matter whatalliance you are in and if i buy the CE i buy mostly for mount and rings so i can get extra exp if i go play ESO with my gf and mount for the cost alot in game.
If you buy a box and pay a monthly fee you should get absolutely everything that game has to offer ... everything, no matter how "cosmetic" or "you can get anyway if you grind enough". That includes collectors editions, which, if you really have to have the silly things, should only have things like a spiffy art book and a nice figurine and a tee shirt.... NOTHING usable in game. Cosmetics and raising money for horses and special races are all part of the game and buying the box and having a monthly fee should be enough.
Greed is going to kill PC MMORPG gaming.... if it hasn't already.

You can thank F2P MMOs and the F2P players for that :P. If all MMOs was P2P like the glory days of MMOs you probably would not see micro-transactions now.

Because it's the F2P players' (who come to the game after it goes F2P from P2P) fault that the game goes F2P? The logic used here is mind-boggling.

lolz
I still dont know, i loved the beta couple of weeks ago but still not convinced to realy buy it, specially when i see these shops selling thing that SHOULD be in the game already. I talk with my money m8. if you like it buy it but don't think everyone will buy it just because it has the name the elder scrolls in it........using big names aint working as good as it used to be you know.

tbh.. you are correct but..
20 extra bucks for:
a pet.
the special rings (not sure if you can get them in any other way)
a free mount for each character.. (saving ingame cash/time [depends how you are getting a mount in this game).
a race, which they describe as a vanity item because its only "visually" different than any other race and racing skills arent that big of a deal..
the crafting (special imperial) can be found ingame (crafting recipe )
now, i for one love TES games.. the extra content for 20usd is kinda upsetting because the game has a monthly fee..
but what can we do?

You guys crack me up. Game after game always complaining about something.
This is no different than other launches. Limit edition offers are nothing new. Cost more for more goodies.
It's simple, if you don't like it don't buy it and don't play it. No need to whine, hate and troll.
