Hi all,
a quick question for all you former SWG fans out there. Where will you go after leaving SWG.
Personally, I am a vet (25 months & 3 accounts, all now cancelled) and the nge was the final nail in the coffin. We all know the bugs and problems with the game, pre cu, post cu, pre nge and post nge, but my major issue in the end was the way as a paying customer I was treated by SOE and LA.
Anyway, don't wish to go off topic, but I my future probably lies with Vanguard. I am well impressed by what I have seen so far, the development team behind it looks top class and will hopefully bring the better elements of the SOE games to this exciting project. Hopefully with Microsoft backing and the Sigil team that they have gathered, this will be the best game on teh market.
I am interested to know what other vets / former SWG players will be doing so please reply to this and let me know!!
Thanks all,

Vanguard won't have PVP thus I have no plans to play it. End of story. I could live a very full life if I never played another PVE only game. Especially a level-grinder PVE only game.
Personally I went home to DAOC and am glad I did. I play EVE in my not-so-frequent periods where I need a space combat fix.
Currently Playing: Dungeons and Dragons Online.

I left SWG on the day of the CU. I switched to WoW and hve enjoyed it immensely. I will continue to play it for the foreseeable future. The only complaint I have about it is that as of late it can be difficult logging in in the evenings due to the servers being so full. Other than that, it is a blast.
Were the NGE and CU to be reversed, I would go back to SWG. But until that point, WoW is for me.

For the moment I'm kinda tandemming WoW and AO. Neither game is everything I want, but the combination of the two will keep me from going crazy until something better comes out. I hope.
I have hopes for Age of Conan, but I'm less than sanguine about their "points combat system". It sounds too much like nge combat. But I'm willing to give it a try in hopes that many of the other features AoC's devs are working on will make this combat style more playable than NGE's pisspoor non-collision-using garbage. At the very least their getting away from stupid, kidstuff arcade style flashy crap effects will be a refreshing change.
Watching their official boards has become pretty interesting and shows that FunCom has learned from mistakes made in other games on the market.

Im losing hope in MMO's, since the NGE I have tried EQ2, WOW and COH. None of them interested me in the slightest, they were all well-made and relatively bug free (at least compared to SWG) but they were also simple and boring. Maybe some of the new batch coming out next year will be better, but I cant claim to be too hopefull.
I suppose Im looking for more of a virtual world than a game, thats what SWG really was for me.

If you download DAOC's free trial take a look at my post about the updated graphics for it in the DAOC forums. A lot of people gripe about the graphics in the trial (it uses the OLD engine) but you can download and activate the updated graphics engine in the trial. I listed the steps to do so on the DAOC forum.
Definitely worth trying. Especially if you love PVP.
EVE's a good option too but most people who try it find it pretty boring. And crafting in EVE is nowhere near as good as it was in SWG. No way, no how. The economy and trade system are awesome... but crafting in EVE, while still very good, is nothing compared to SWG's was.

A number of the core movers and shakers in my old entertainer guild have gone to Second Life. It's a completely different sort of game (a sim than an adventure type game), but it captures the social ambiance of early SWG very well. So if you're disappointed with what SOE did with entertainers, give it a whirl.
Just a warning, though--it's an adult game, with lots of adult content, some of which can be quite raw. It also has a very steep learning curve. If you do try it, though, give it a bit of time. It looks like a cartoon at first, until you get into the player made content (which represents most of the game) and can change your avatar's appearance, clothing, etc. Then it leaves SWG's level of graphical detail in the dust.

Back to playing Civ 3/4...
Seem everyone has kinda branched off to different games since they departed SWG.
Currently playing..
World of Warcraft (despite having 4 lvl 60's now, just enjoying it with my swg friends)
City of Villians (same goes for this title too, however only at lvl 17 now with x-swg friends)
Battlefield 2
Looking to play..
DAoC once again (that information you gave sounds great, cause it was a fun game when i used to play it)
EvE Online (may give this a chance once again, very hardcore game)
Beta Playing now..
Dark and Light (playing also with x-swg friends)
Roma Victor (same here)
Khan Power (just d/loaded this and its like playing Lineage 2 in a sense)
the Close to 300 friends I had on SWG, they all too branched off in many directions.
I just trying to find the game I really like, but none of them are SWG
Can someone please come up with a excellent MMORPG Sci_Fi Game...
well may i introduce to u game called rf-online know as rising forces online.
this game so far has not recived one bad comment on it
and the reason i think its only received a 7.2 rating is becase its still a closed beta and will be till relase of 2/14/06. and its still in phase 1 right now so things are very limited.
rf-online is still kinda underground and they dont advertise alot.
but here is a link to there main page check out all three videos. u will fall in love with it i promise.

thanks for the information on this game! I went to gamespot.com and checked out the
trailers and interviews. Looks promising and finally a Sci-fi atmosphere with guns and swords!
I tried Eve before but the forced PvP wasn't for me and after watching the massacre of SWG I decided to just slip out the back door and save the ones who enjoyed it the burden of defending it from casuals like me.
Tried WoW and it's a curious game but I can't picture me spending any great amount of time playing it.
I ended up at DAOC as well in the end and in less than a month I have a 35th level Druid/ Nature Affinity specialist, no expansion packs, not dungeons save a few hrs. DAOC is very PvP centric but the PvE side is there, it's just not as visible without the expansions. Crafting so far is just plain cruel and that's not a complaint, don't change a bloody thing! I just find it less than appealing but it works so that's that.
Old school SWG'ers will like DAOC. It is what we had in many was, without SW of course and without the bugs and obsession with 'fixing' everything.
Agreed! SOE failed to realize that they had a game that was unique and made for those of us who like to use our brains, especially figuring out how to craft the best stuff. Sadly, they gave in to the more WOW like combat system. I canceled 3 accounts.
I wonder how many of us there are out there.... I fell in love with SWG from the first time I played. I looked at tons of other MMOs and never really found anything more than slightly interesting.
Since the NGE, and my cancellation, I've been playing other MMOs and finding nothing that even comes close...

Sometimes the Chancellor declares himself Emperor and destroys your galactic republic.
Sometimes your husband kills all the Jedi, chokes you, and breaks your heart, causing you to die in childbirth.
Sometimes your planet gets blown up so the Empire can test fire their weapon.
And sometimes, the same geniuses who paid Mariah Carey $20 million NOT to sing get put in charge of your MMORPG.

I left SWG right before the cu and had played since day 1 before that. I cancelled for about a month and a half to try EVE Online. My cousin talked me into SWG again to try the cu. I cancelled for good before the nge.
I tried the WOW trial. It was ok. I dont see what all the fuss was about it being great but then again the little time I tried it. Ok though.
Im back playing EVE Online. I am really looking forward too and have high hopes for Age Of Conan - Hyboria. Im currently looking for a second mmo to play alongside EVE Online.
Kauri Server
Isaip Osywae - Master Bounty - Master Rifleman
Currently trying to decide to go back to either DAoC or Shadowbane. I need PvP.
Shadowbane is definately the better PvP game, but DAoC has more content and less bugs...
