All I can say is this game went from a May try once F2P to Will try once F2P. This isn't hate btw more being a student on a shoestring budget and knowing that while this game may be good and have decent PVP it doth not have the inertia of something like DAoC or EVE-Online to keep the sub up for long.

What I do know is that, personally, the ESO beta was one of the biggest MMO let downs I have ever experienced.  Horizons was number one for me.  I thought ESO was horrible.  Hopefully enough people will find it enjoyable enough to succeed.  I will be passing on it completely, though.

No floating numbers or golden questions marks?   No tab targeting?  What exactly didn't you like?

I don't know what's wrong with me but I actually liked the starter zones.  I played all 3 factions to levels 9'ish and enjoyed them all, though I will admit that the Ebonheart starter zone was definitely the least enjoyable of the three.  I was thinking all the negativity was coming from the WoW clone generation who's taste in MMO's is completely different from mine.

But now that there are so many positive reviews for the game after level 10 it actually concerns me that maybe this game turns into more like a WoW/WAR clone.  I hate what today's MMOs have become.  Yuck!

I didn't get to play past level 10, so knowing that I completely disagree with so many peoples' negative opinion about the starter zones, I am wondering if I would also completely disagree with all the positive opinions of the later game.  Sigh... I'm so confused.

Perhaps people are behaving in a similar fashion to myself.

i thought the game was not worth the purchase after beta, the reviewers gave it a fairly poor review.

I dont feel the need to say too many negative things about the game because I have not put any money down on the game, I've already spoken with my wallet.

My wallet said spend your money on other games this year, this ones a pass.

So obviously this thread and all the reactions prooves a full NDA is not a wise thing.  I personally prefer an open discussion about game mechanics, while keeping the actuall content ( spoilers) under NDA.  I know this would be much harder to keep up, but it would do any game some good. I think there is something to be learned here for all game developers.

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

I didn't say anything negative that I can recall during the NDA. Infact I've been keeping clear of the ESO subforums mainly. That said I thought the melee combat was horrible and I wasn't impressed with what I saw of the rest of the game. Admittedly it wasn't much and I didn't get to try the pvp which is the most interesting part of this game to me. Anyway I wasn't even aware the NDA had dropped, I had simply moved on. I may try this game for the PVP down the line but I don't feel the need to get involved in the pre-launch hype or the bickering between excited fans and disappointed ones. I'll leave that to others and wait till the hype dies down for this one.

The game will be a financial success, even that smedley fellow from sony predicted as much.

There will be no lesson here for developers, other then do what zenimax has done if you want to make loads of money.

The NDA system is to control marketing information so they can better sell the game and tout it's features when and where they want.

Moral of the story, don't keep your damn NDA so long.  Let people see and talk about your damn game.  You are trying to sell a product, don't hide it.  The benefits of doing that were....?

They gave the negative people lots of time to say things which ended up destroying their credibility when the NDA finally did drop. ;)

I was an absolute hater until NDA dropped.

Now, just about everyone's saying: "Level 3-10 was shit unless you were Dominion. Special nod to the Daggerfall starting zone. The rest of the game is great." and then went on to tell me a lot of things I wanted to hear.

Being that I was a Breton Sorcerer who found Stros M’Kai to be the most inane, boring zone I've ever seen... yeah, I had a very negative impression of the game after Beta Weekend.

Now, I'm slowly but surely coming around. At least they didn't frontload the content with polish and neglect the end game like most WoW Clones of the last 10 years.

One of the suggestions I made in their little survey, was to add more content to DC starter zones.  Those are the only zones that I've played, so it's at least nice to see that other people think that the DC zones were lacking as well.  Maybe ZOS will actually listen and cram pretty hard on those lacking areas before release.  Doubt it, but it seems like most people who've experienced all three zones are saying the same things.

And yes, I would agree with that.  I said all along that they really didn't have much to hide.  I couldn't delve into why I felt that way at the time, but now people are actually getting to see that the game isn't as bad as they thought.

I would say the negativity sort of dropped and now it seems like its balanced between the positive and negative arguments.

    I agree

I have not posted in this forum as i haven't really been interested in more themeparks.

After seeing the phasing, grouping and horrible animations after NDA lifted I will not touch it with a 10 foot pole.

But I leave you to enjoy it and walk another way so you won't see me in here.

there will be one more beta - i'd challenge you to play at least past lvl 10 before you make your final judgmenet if you havent already done so

Moreover i would also challenge you to try other weapons - if you tried range play melee and vice verca - some people vastly prefer the one or the other in this game... i personally think melee (in 3rd person) is WAY more fun than ranged...

Despite what people might think the NDA lift they had did nothing for the information available. Other than letting people with critiques cite specific issues...bugged mobs, bugged NPCs, bugged quests, log in server instability, loading screen issues, everything thing you 'explore' is instanced, UI bugs, stuck to teleport stones, and the list goes n. Yeah its beta but every single one of those things happened last Beta Jan 2014, were ALL there in July of 2013. Whether theyre leaving them broken or not is unknown but since they made a special effort to point out they fixed a lot of bugs between the last two betas I dont think it was on purpose.

There isnt anything positive people can cite in the game that the NDA effected a bit. because Zenimax has already showcased what little positive the game has.

The main issue is still that the 'closed' beta group still has an NDA. Like I said in the post I made the other day. While a few people who were in the 'stress test' betas got to see higher levels, they didnt get access like these guys have.

So why lift an NDA on something that everyone can see for themselves? These are basically open betas at this point with or without an NDA. Only thing is now you can talk about it and not worry about Nazi mods banning you on every random forum. Nothing changed. People have their opinions on whether they like it or not.

People can also discount the bugs and performance issues they have seen using the 'its a beta' excuse. Well if you had it in context you would know better. But since people expect games to be released in beta phase anway I guess it really doesnt matter. because I am positive there will be perfmance and bugs during the early release, the same one people have seen for 8 months or more. But then the excuse will be 'its early release', then after a month and the same bugs and issues persist it will be 'the game just got released and XXX(usually WoW) was much worse at release than this game is".

These guys will eventually be shut down if it continues because people paying a sub have a lot shorter fuse. I suspect a lot of "we want free game time' posts come May.

What made me like the game more was being in the beta.  Call me weird but I enjoyed the Starting area.  I understand what they are trying to do with them.  When i was playing, I found three people:  People who played MMOs and ES games, people who only played MMO games and people who had only played ES games.

So the starting areas are for latter two. Hey, never played ESO before? This is how it works, laid out in a digestible manner. Same with ESO players who never played MMO games before.

The game has a lot of potential. And I am noticing that since the NDA has been lifted, others get to make their own decisions.
