The closest MMO games I know about and can work up excitement for are World of Darkness and Star Citizen, both of which are far away. Was looking into The Repopulation with some excitement a year ago or so, but then I never got an alpha invite and also the market was flooded with survival games so meh.
If I can't find an MMO to get interested in, I might have to buy Titanfall
And I've boycotted EA for 9 years...

Unfortunately the bubble has to burst before we can start new again. Until then its going to continue to be the next Iteration of "WoWstar: Disneyquest Wars Online".
I'm *hoping* it will be no more than a couple of years, but, we shall see. The general public is definitely dumb enough to swallow more of this crap before they pull the wool from their eyes.

If your determination is that all three of those games are "garbage," then you may just want to forget about MMOs. They may not appeal to your style of MMO, but calling them "garbage" because you don't find them interesting is a pretty subjective view at best, and downright myopic at worst.
Why don't you start by describing what you are looking for in an MMO?
So... where do I start? EQN is not at all even at a stage anyone can say they like or dislike it, it is too early in development. EQN:L however, you may have some experience in, but again, you are looking at an incomplete alpha game. Wildstar is a very popular game currently, maybe it is not your style, but it is far from garbage and it appears quite polished for beta. TESO, despite the fact I am not interested in this game, has a group that is quite loyal and enjoys it. It has some features that are nice, some not so much, but in the end will probably be a successful game.
Now the part where you referred to The Repopulation as a survival game is where you really lost me. It is a sandbox MMO, not at all a survival game. I must say I do like the part where you used the point that not getting an alpha key as a reason not to like the game.
I just ask, when you are going to call four games garbage, please know what you are talking about. All of these games have loyal followers that are very much pleased with where the games are going. The fact that you do not like them, may be more of an indication that you do not like MMOs rather than the fact that there is anything wrong with any of these MMOs.
EQ:N has an art style I am allergic to in pure fantasy games, so even if it theoretically had good gameplay I would not be able to approach it in a way as to not singe my eyes off. Wildstar has a similar kiddie art style but has Steampunk elements to mitigate it, sadly though it isn't very good, however it is at least mildly more entertaining than TESO. There is nothing new in this game however. TESO is a cynical cash grab with too many problems to even mention. However I mentioned some key ones here: link.
"MMO" is not a genre, it is a technology. So don't give me the old schtick about "maybe you don't like MMOs".
What I am looking for:
Your post certainly shut them up didnt it. As for your list, i pretty much agree with it in whole, although I'm not as allergic to the art style of something like wildstar as you. Like with vanilla wow (which i avoided purely due to the art style), if there is nothing better to play i can still buckle down and look past it. Unfortunately as you said with DisneyQuest: Next. I would rather singe my eyeballs with a red hot poker. Not to mention the 900 million other terrible aspects of the game.
I'm sorry but i have to call you out on this. Saying that his opinion of that style of MMO's is myopic is actually myopic. Justin Bieber can release a well produced record, recorded on high quality equipment, etc, etc, and i can still be of the opinion that its garbage. Is that subjective, absolutely. Is it myopic? Not in the slightest.

I'm sorry but this is a ridiculous argument. There is a reason they have things like movie previews. Or game previews.
I don't need to play Hello Kitty Online to know i'm not going to like it.

And there been movie cinematic that made me think a movie was gonna be shit and when i watch it, it acualy realy good, same way the other way round great trailers but shitty game/movie.
Yeah kinda silly of him, then he goes he doesnt like the kiddy art style however there been many people playingm landmark who said the same thing till they got into the game and they love it now, so yeah realy cant compare a game with 0 details just on art style.
He already said that it was the art style he couldn't stand, and from that standpoint what you see is what the final product will be. Granted there are likely to be improvements to the character textures between now and release and an increase in customization, but the bright colors and exaggerated features aren't going anywhere.
It's a reason I can't get into TESO. The game just does not look good to me. The game play can be fantastic but if you don't like the art style it's a pretty big barrier to entry. For me in TESO it's the animations and the armor, it just bugs me. Purely subjective, but there it is. Could I look past the art style ? Sure, if it was excellent in every other way. But any flaws just become exacerbated when you just don't like looking at the game. You can get to the point where you look for things to make you log out rather than log in.
Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen. Which so far seems like primarily/only PvE based.
Camelot Unchained. Lord British's "DAoC2" should meet your PvP desires.
Playing: Secret World: Legends
Waiting for: Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen
Let's agree to disagree!
You never expect movie critic to watch first two scenes of movie and make a preview!
The difference between preview and full review is the depth of analysis, not a amount of content involved.
Did you tried this game long enough (let say 13 levels) to justify this comparison with Hello Kitty Online?
Well Cantorage i guess you could get in on the Patheon train... Sure that game is about 4-5 years out at best but that also give you a lot of time to get involved and get movements within the community to get "your" features in.
Beyond that i think you will have to do like the rest of us and settle on one or two features that are important and thus widening your net. Because right now your best bet going by your own list would be something like Darkfall... and that is not a very good game at all.
This have been a good conversation
i can force my self to play. but really im jaded with technology, how much further can you really take computer screens, console controllers, and keyboard and mice. even with wii remotes and motion cap cams.
my hope to enjoy mmo's and rpg's will be VR. rift or something like it will need to be supported. that takes care of the screen. but controls are tricky. iv watched and read to much about being the avatar in your game with full motion of control, as if its your body.
things like BCI (eeg mind controllers) are still many years away or just really hidden in r&d labs, and they wont show it off for another 10 years. nothing will feel right till you can do exactly what you want in game. it saddens me to be so disenfranchised with mmo's and rpg's in general.
i know i went off topic, sorta into a rant . but i t was in the same vein of not having anything to get really excited about. ill just stick to shooters for fast paced action, well the division might work out i have hope for that (next year i think tho)
Probably because the jaded players are looking for innovation instead of being lulled into stagnation by laziness or cowardice of developers not wanting to try new things. There isn't a lot of change from one mmo to another. Different story, different names, but much of it remains the same.
The genre needs innovation. Just because you're content with the status quo of mmo quality doesn't mean everyone is. This is why people are constantly looking for an mmo to finally unsubscribe to WoW (their invested time sink) and move on to something better, try as they might they find much in the same and eventually move back to their comfortable place or continue trying alternatives until they're content.
Not as silly as people who don't even read the thread enough to see the other post he made prior to yours that clarified why he dislikes EQ:N even though no details on gameplay and such have been released. But I suspect you didn't care enough in the first place to read the 1 page of posts before concluding he was as you described him to be...
As for the OP:
I'm waiting for Star Citizen myself while occasionally hopping on GW2 with my guild to shoot the shit/mess around. Other than that I haven't found much interest in the current market of mmos. Much in the same without much innovation.
we need an MMO hipster meme for this site. some of the best games ever made didnt have gritty photo-realistic graphics I know thats the rallying cry of the MMO Hipster now but its a really silly topic to whine about.
I will play EQnext and i wouldnt care if they had minecraft graphics you know why? the idea and the gameplay i have experienced in landmark are much more important that graphics. if they can deliver half of what they promise i will be playing EQnext for a long long time. while you sit on this forum being miserable with all the other MMO hipsters desperately trying to find reasons to hate the popular games.
but hey have fun with your indie games because MMO made by indie companies are always top quality lol.
they do? thats the reason most of the jaded players on this forum were and are still drooling over pantheon which is basically going to be EQ with updated graphics. and some on this very post were ready to give money to the guy that has no innovation in his game ... his first class ... the cleric a chain wearing mace wielding healer ... WOW innovation!
the thing is the jaded gamers on this forum have no clue what so ever as to what they want in a game but they definitely DON'T want innovation.
You forgot to add SWG to that. More than Pantheon, most of these "people" only want another SWG clone, nothing new or innovative. This can be also seen in their complains about SWTOR and ESO taking a slightly innovative approach to questing with their voice acting and more RPG-ish quests.
Wildstar and TESO are also not for me. Wildstar got at least a good sense of humor but TESO is just bland.
Luckily I am very happy with FF11 and FF14 at the moment.
I am sure the next big thing will be soon around the corner.^^
