So it isn't gamebreaking to be able to, at a glance, tell that my opponent is out of stamina so my stamina drain skill would be completely worthless? Whereas if I didn't have that information, perhaps I'd waste a bunch of mana using it on my opponent only to discover my error.
Not really. CoH had that same line of skills. They did not have the mod for that, but I see your point. What would happen is that you would use that skill more efficiently, particularly for special bosses that just so happen to need stamina to blow you out of the water. I'll warrent that they "never" run out of stamania, or have a means to recoup it quickly, there by seeing that bar go down would be a great help, whether its you doing it to them or it happening naturally.
The only addon I would like is to be able to annotate the map. I like knowing where I've been so I don'r retrace my steps. I love exploring. If I forget where an npc is I want to find them again easliy. I know people are gonna put this stuff on the web. Theres already maps on skyshards and harvesting nodes. I would rather do it myself than run a second screen. Also. I can write up where those pesky wolves are likely to be!
All kinds of optional information can be added to "on-demand" screens rather than to what you see as you're out in the world. Take the character stats screen, that's in the default game, yet i don't have to look at it when i'm fighting a mob. zomg, brilliant!
sigh.
Could you try that part with the stats screen again but make sense this time?
The character stats screen provides tons of numbers and other useful information. Yet does it block your entire UI while you're fighting? No, it doesn't. It's accessible by player request ONLY when the player wants to look at it. My point is that the same thing can be done with other information also.
For example, instead of there being a giant "YOU HIT MOB FOR 12 DAMAGE, CRITICAL HIT!" across the middle of your UI when you're fighting, this could go to a separate screen, so that after combat - if you want - you can bring that screen up and take a look at what happened. All without encumbering your in-combat UI.
That was my point.

my thoughts are very much in line with the author of the article. it's good to know zenimax is going to look at it. personally I hope they add all the information from the add-on into the game. it's good to know that stuff. I don't however want to have to download some cluster-fuck add on to see it.

We dont want to use or play againts them, PvP with addons is PvC (Player vs Cyborg)

I don't think anyone has a problem with players being able to review combat logs after a fight.
Anyway, it looks like ZO are across the issue. I expect they will make the right call with regard to what data modders can access via the api.
I vividly and profoundly abhorr the Addon idea. Reasons should be easy enough to see.
HOWEVER, the minimalist barebone default UI is just as bad. I want info. TONS of info. Detailled info. Yeah optional of course, but all the info standard MMOs offer. Nametags, chat bubbles, minimap, damage-o-meter asf. Dont like, dont use.
But creating a barebone minimal UI and then let players fill the gap with their personal UI is just a horribly bad idea.
I am just SICK AND TIRED of every single MMO company acting like their MMo was THE FIRST MMO EVER. Like we had learned NOTHING from previous MMO! Like we need to re-invent the wheel all over again. It jusr aggravates me beyond words. Can't we just leave the basic MMO stuff PLEASE as it is, with a NORMAL UI everyone is used to?! And NORMAL MMO functionalities, namely AH? But oh no, I am special, I am soooo different, I am a princess, I need my OWN DIFFERENT UI!
Bah.
I am just tired to see how every MMO dev acts like a diva these days. Zenimax just didn't get it into their skulls that they are NOT developing a single player game, but a MMORPG, and that a massive amount of people playing together need a whole different level of info and control than if you just walk a world alone! MMOs are fundamentally different beats. You can't just pretend to make a single player game. SWTOR tried that and fell flat on their nose. But did ZOS learn from that? Oh no, because God forbid we EVER look at other MMos and their failures. It's all like Groundhog Day! What happend with the previous MMO? Previous MMos? Never heard.
Yeah. Go ahead. Sink another famous IP, namely Elder Scrolls, because you ignore the MMO basics and believe the IP carries it no matter what....

Sorry that is how the world works, those who prepare get an advantage.
lol what a joke. Prepare? How much preparedness does it take to look at three guys and see which one has the lowest stamina and go for that guy? srsly...

ZOS really needs to change what we can and can't see with mods vs. base UI. As someone new to MMOs I think that Mods for UI should only ever enhance what I can/should see by default. Things like showing exact numbers on health bars, scrolling combat text, my own cast bar and what (de)buffs are affecting me or need refreshing aren't an issue at all because it's just taking information and stats I can already access and making it visible in a location where I don't have to stop battling and open up a menu to see it.
But when I can mod it so I can now see things like my enemies resource pools or a big flashy indicator pops up saying my enemy is charging an attack instead of having to pay attention to the game world like the combat was designed for, then the mod is clearly giving me a distinct advantage over not having it and that shouldn't be allowed. And why can we even see who our target is targeting? We can't heal by clicking on player icons, so what is even the point of having it in ESO?
When you find yourself teetering on the edge of disaster, mine will be the hands taking pleasure in giving you the final push.
Add-ons I like. Being able to see multiple quests. Being able to see buffs (would be nice to be able to apply multiple buffs). Seeing loot details in chat window.

To get legit Elder Scrolls Online addons/mods you can check the latest updated ESO addons at http://www.esocore.com/ all these addons are hosted on official/permitted websites (Curse, ESOUI), but it’s all in one.
Well, I did expect more of default ESO UI, I wasn't very pleased to see it at first, however addons made life much easier.. and finally there are very decent addons now, which enable some vital features.. especially for combat.. If not addons I would have quit ESO already. I find http://www.esocore.com/ very convenient to search for all ESO addons, it remains updated and allows to download them only from official sources, yet I don't need to go through different websites to find ESO mod or addon I'm looking for.
