Perfect game for ME

intiorizedintiorized Member UncommonPosts: 143

So after playing a few betas getting used to the game mechanics i can honestly say, its the perfect game for me. Why?

I´m a casual player, i play 1 - 2 hours max a day sometimes only at weekends. I sit down with friends and want to enjoy decent worlds and explore, master some adventures. That´s being said, ESO is the perfect game for me, because it has the game mechanics which makes me, a casual player, do the things i want. Subscription is also a point which I like very much, when i have the feeling i got the whole content available with 12€/month. I just want to login and play, not bothering if there is anything i have to buy to enjoy the game as a whole.

Also i do love the slow progression. I just was on the starting island with my 7 Characters and hell , i had a blast. There was so much to discover, gathering resources and so on. The quests are very good, they are voice acted, telling stories. Sure there are bugs, sometimes very annoying bugs where you could not move forward any more (one time i was stuck on the island because of this, but this quest is fixed now). These kind of bugs should be fixed before release, but i trust ZOS on that. When i got off the island the world was getting much bigger, it opened up but i stopped playing the after running around seeing some really funny NPCs/Events and creatures because i did not want to spoil anything. As of endgame, no rush with that. It will take me month to 50 and 50+/++.

Furthermore, i don´t have the feeling that ZOS is that greedy. Sure it´s a company they have to make money, hey that´s capitalism but YOU have the choice. Whether you buy the game, it´s your decision. Though they made some bad decisions.

It´s also just a GAME, it´s kind of a luxury article. The TESO release is not a life changing event for me, i´m just looking forward having some good time with friends in Tamriel. It shouldn´t be such  a war between people who like it or not. It´s like political parties, you can vote for them or not. You have the choice, if you dont like it dont buy it. I can understand that everybody wants to play this new MMO and wants it to be his perfect game. But that doesn´t work . People are different, its good, they like different things.

So the discussion about ESO is a good/bad MMO is senseless, there is no real objective opinion. For me its a good MMO i play it and will have fun, for others it´s not, so don´t play it, it´s not a civic duty to play this game or any MMO. You should have fun and if you dont move on. Its your precious lifetime so dont waste it on things you do not like now or in the future.

To conclude, i like it very much, its the perfect game for me, one i was looking forward very long. So i´ll play it sub it and have a good time as long as it lasts. When it´s over it´s over, but hey, nothing lasts forever and i have my own life going on.

So see you in Tamriel or have fun with your own perfect game, because there are plenty games out there :)

Cheers.

Pretty much sums it up what I'm thinking about this game. I'm just very skeptical about the future regarding marketing decisions like a cash shop etc. But if it stays as p2p game without a cash shop expansion I will be happy. I absolutely love the slow progression.. the beautiful landscape.. the treasure hunts with drawings on a map.. the crafting in general.. the minimalistic UI and the skill system. I just can't decide which class I should play.

Oh yes! And I never experienced a beta where I try to NOT log in because I don't want to spoil the story too much. Most games doesn't interest me in their story.. here I'm totally involved in.

Doesn't feel like a RPG at all to me.  Completely non-immersive.  The world is static and boring, this is what I would expect from a RPG from 15 years ago, not today.

How do you feel about grinding for a mount when other players can get it for a few RL bucks?

  • CouganCougan Member UncommonPosts: 422

I'm a casual solo player myself I guess and I agree the game is pretty ideal for an RPG fan.

I like to build up my resources at the start of a RPG since the begginning is usually where I have the most fun and I found I could get that experience from harvesting, crafting basic armour sets and weapons and treasure chests on eso. Dont feel the rush to speed level to the end of the game so I can PVP.

The "start" island is surprisingly large on Daggerfall Covenant and exploring the coast yielded plenty of random loot tucked away behind corners. There was quests to do but I didnt bother with any this beta. I just killed mudcrabs, beetles and wolves which was raising my skills.

I didnt find the return to the islands as broken as some people did mention since I arrived in a house then as I stepped outside there was a quest marker a short distance away which led me to the familar captain by sea. After completing her quests and taking a voyage back, stopping off at the orc stronghold you would be back at Daggerfall I assume.

I don't understand why you're still here, evilastro. You're enjoying WildStar.. (which is "completely non-immersive for me) and you're hating on ESO regularly. Don't have any other hobbies? Yes.. it feels like a 15-year old RPG in different ways. But guess what.. this is exactly what I like about it. No name-plates.. no mini-map on the screen.. just a compass and a quest-tracker with just one single quest.. love it.

I feel like I'm saving money for something that's a lot like everything else I do in these games anyway!  When I get my horse, I'm going to call him 'Coupon'.

Ok, ESO maybe getting alot of negative respnses and tbh, even as an elder scroll fan, I can't speak against many of them, we have to admit that ESO is a good game and people who enjoy the lore the rpg elements will like it.

It may not live up to the biggest new titles in the MMO market atm being GW2 and WoW however, it got it's audience and in my opinion it is better than WildStar, which I think is a bit, too WoW'ish :(

ESO isn't evolutionary and may not be your game however it is not as trash as people are explaining, try to give the game and devs credits guys. At the end of the day, hope I see you guys in-game.

ESO compared to other releases isnt getting that much hate.

This is why there are thousands of games online I don't play that are still doing well. The perfect game for you is one I have 0 interest in playing :)

I never really understood why so many people have such trouble admitting a game can be good but not for them.

I'm glad they at least made it purchasable at the start. I spent weeks, heck months, in Vanguard collecting enough stuff to get my mount, and it felt like an accomplishment. Riding it was like showing off how much work I put into it. When they put the same mount in the store, I didn't like it.

In ESO, there's no pretense that having a mount is an accomplishment, so no disappointment later.

I can see your problem, but I think everyone else's problem here is that this thread is not about Wildstar and this is not the Wildstar forum.  To add to that, OP never mentioned Wildstar and said why he personally enjoyed a different game.. man what was that game again?  I know it wasn't Wildstar.  Somebody help me here.
  • intiorizedintiorized Member UncommonPosts: 143

Wow its not even possible having one thread without someone who not even intend to play this game but complaining about it.

Seems impossible to like ESO without someone posting why you shouldn´t like it.

OP I totally agree with you. Maybe I have a bit more time, from 1 to a little over 3 hours depending on my day and other activities like the gym and tennis. I think the negative forum goers here which ARE a vocal minority coming from SWG, Wildstar, Everquest, paid Blizzard folks, etc are going to be disappointed when this game is much more successful than their choices or in the case of WOW, that the game is just doing well period (since no game will topple WOW in my eyes).

I stopped playing beta because I just want to enjoy it upon release. I want it to feel fresh :-).

I have a WoW account that i havent touched in months still subbed tho they did something great for thier time i will go back at WoD so I am just paying them. I play football, tennis, jog, I drive my streetbike to bike week and with the money i saved for not paying this title got a new back tire for my cbr 600 f4i. It was a very positive exciting venture.

I don't like wildstar either, never played swg never will, i will see what everyquest next has to offer if its like this, believe me it will get the same criticism from me.

Couldn't disagree more with your assessment, non-immersive compared to what MMORPG? AS for the horse you do realize that horse is worthless in the greater scheme of things right? Everyone will be grinding to get a decent mount.

Here's the thing though; the average quality of RPGs was higher 15 years ago than it is today, so that's not exactly a criticism.

Actually, you can increase a stat on your horse by 1% once a day by feeding him, so if you are trying to be frugal (rather than fast) you can turn your white or palomino horse into the equivalent of the "better" horse for only 2500 gold. (Assuming food cost is a constant.)  It will just take you about 20 days to do it, which is probably a lot longer than it would take to earn the gold to just buy the other horse.
