Sent to prison, judged in court by your own peers .. sentenced .. then later forced to live amongst the other refuges of society (pirates), as an outcast from your home continent (now you are KOS by NPC's).
In general PK (same faction PVP), the victum can lose their virtual property possessions to some miscreant PVP'er. PVE victims lose 60% of their quest rewards, on long transport quest - but only gain anything if the quest gets completed by that dastardly pirate (pirate gets 40% for completing the job .. NPC's as so neutral, aren't they?). PVP'ers lose their dignity when smooshed, with time wasted & no rewards vs time spent.

Trion says translations are complete. Elevated alpha for the "continuing" weeks, then beta starts, CBT initially. Soon.
Trion also went on to say this game comes out this year (2014).
Scapes:
While the tech work continues, the team is also finalizing plans for “early supporter” pre-launch packages slated to be introduced during this timeframe and available for the duration of closed beta, leading into launch later this year.

Repop might also hit Beta this year too.
They AB Tech are most certainly ramping up for Kickstarter backer alpha 3 very very soon.
Regarding Archeage luckily I got in before the Russian IP block and quite enjoying it but this has not pulled me right in just yet,the game looks stunning but I'm more for the actual systems like combat which is still quite mainstream unlike ESO combat which after last Beta I was enjoying but unlike ESO AA has a massive amount of extra and general content features that ESO does not.
Now as a sandbox maybe in later levels but early on it's very Themepark so you need to stick with it it's no direct Sandbox like Repop well not at the start but of course when you hit the third continent it does then hit full sandbox mode.
Trion execs at the GDC yesterday during the stream above say that you're lying
Would you like an umbrella?
Yeah that stream was quite refreshing Trion seem to want to get this out quick no doubt as Black Desert and EQ+ on the horizon they need a head start, also great to see them fielding questions on the 1.0 patch which destroyed the Korean version and has set the Western forums on fire just lately.
So far the Russian version is very close to the so called Western version which bodes well for it's Western Future, a bit miffed they are changing the Ferre name maybe they realized the Russian English patch translates Ferre to Ferret so I'm basically a 6 foot furry ferret in the game.

I'm not seeing either Black Desert or EQN on the market anytime soon. Honestly thinking 1+ years on EQN and about 2+ years on Black Desert.
So saying they are "on the horizon" is a stretch. Neither game is in beta, and EQL (EQ Landmark) finally just announced beta in a few days. EQL is a far cry from what EQN promises as an MMORPG, so more time is allowed, 1 year+, seriously.
Anyone can just look at current MMO market to see what people pay for. Nothing to do with my desires.
Yep, AA is themepark. Not because I said so but because regardless how much you want it, it won't turn the game into something it is not.
Mostly the problem is people misusing the term - mistaking feature for design, and calling a sandbox w/e flies their boat.
OK then, you are just looking at the current MMO market. That explains a lot. If you want to show what people pay for, provide that info to substantiate your statements. I think you don't have the info, personally.
I think you see the small picture when shown a big picture. You see WoW as the way to go, because Blizzard is profittable. You may convince yourself that you are a big picture kind of person, but it is seemingly not the case, from everything you have said so far. Expand your horizons. Take critique with a smile, and finally see the big picture .. a world with many diverse people. A changing world. A changing game environment.
ps - You will want to actually play this game in the future, if you would like to discuss it and make claims. Your claims so far are without examples, and not very believable. It's worth playing (coming from a Star Wars fan like you, too).

Please do show me the bigger picture where WoW, LOTRO, DDO, AOC, SWTOR, TSW aren't mainstream MMO titles with major market share on western market, and subsequently MOBA success isn't anything note worthy.

I looked Shadowbane up and that game and it has certain flavors, but I think it is going after a different crowd.
I couldn't stomach the gameplay video, but the lyric theme was DESTROY!!! which peps can do, maybe in upcoming console / pc MMORPG crossovers. I'm into gaming music, and sadly, thought the soundtrack for Shadowbane stinks, from the trailer:
I really like the sandbox/themepark way AA seems to be built on. For example Lineage2 aint no sandbox but it has the best pvp elements according to me and AA also have those.
People are just way to much hung up on whats themepark or whats a sandbox. In my book a mixture of both is what makes a great game.

I guess the masses will decide, when Shadowbane comes out, in uh yeah, 2014.
Shadowbane came out in 2003 and closed in 2009.
But 2 emulators are in open beta, so its back
It has the deepest skill system of any game out there.
Its also has cool races, like Minos, Centaurs, Vampires, and 2 flying races
You can build cities and siege and destroy other guilds cities
There are also resource mines that you can fight over.
No crafting... and I mean none... only an upgrade system for existing items... => sandpark not sandbox due to the lack of a functioning player economy (less of a sandbox than Archeage at any rate).
I read somewhere that russian players were disappointed and saying that AA was slowly getting rid of what looked like sandbox features and freedoms in favor of a more streamline themepark flavor. I also read that the best combat mounts with the stealth ability were available for purchase on the item shop. I dont have a link and this was up to a couple months ago so maybe things have changed.
I think people are under estimating how bad the payment model is. It has to be. It's the only way I could see why AA has not being a huge success.
That being said. it most likely will be just as you said OP, if you consider AA a sandbox. Indy's like Life is Feudal and the Repopulation could steal the show though.
On top of the awesome world and mechanics, you can build shacks anywhere, or build bigger houses, or rent in cities and decorate the insides like in sims... Potential mmo of the decade.. And This comes from someone who hasn't enjoyed any mmo since bc wow, that much.

Any mmo worth its salt should be like a good prostitute when it comes to its game world- One hell of a faker, and a damn good shaker!

The success of this game will depend on how they structure their free to play model.
watched the livestream, I think this will be a pretty amazing title.
Although I´m a bit annoyed by the exclamation marks over NPC heads. Gives me an awful Wowish themepark deja vu

Arche age has no sandbox competition right now this year, Name one sandbox right nwo that lets players with creative freedom to craft anything?
farming, blacksmithing, make anything you want with no restrictions or bugs.
I am interested, but am I going to see it in 2014?
