I bought the physical Imperial edition for Gamestop, and received my code on the receipt from them. Checked my account info and says i got 5 days head start. Are the people missing out on days getting the digital code from Gamestop??

LOL.  Filing a false police report has nothing to do with filing a criminal complaint.   Filing a false police report is lying on a police report.   The OP is not lying and can prove what he is saying,  even if he does not have enough evidence, as long as they cannot prove he is lying nothing will happen.    They use false police report charges when you LIE to the police that causes a false prosecutuion, which is very rarely used, ever.

Hey that's fine you don't like GameStop but to act like those who do shop there are subhuman to you is pretty ignorant .

Do you really have this much trouble comprehending what I am saying, or are you just a bored troll?  You don't have to think someone is "subhuman" in order to point out when they are making an objectively bad (in the case of those who have easy to access alternate options) choice of which company to give their money to.

Did you read the OP?  One of the elements that makes GameStop bottom of the barrel is the crap like what is mentioned there; have you heard any reports of Amazon or Best Buy doing the same thing?  I know I haven't.

As for what is good about Amazon and Best Buy that raises them up, rather than solely focusing on GameStop's negatives; if you get yourself a BB MasterCard, it becomes categorically the best place to buy your games.  Same price as everywhere else, and everything you buy earns you reward points which (once you have enough of them) you can use to essentially get games for free.  Purchasing stuff at BB earns you more than elsewhere, and purchasing games earns you twice as many points as the other stuff at BB (if you join the free Gamer's Club).  If you plan on a buying a lot of video games, the $120 "Unlocked" level of the Gamer's Club gets you 20% off all new games for two years.  I know that sounds like an advertisement, but it's all a damn good deal, and I like to share the joy.  After reward certificates, I'm getting my physical Imp Edition for about $5.00

As for Amazon, best customer service, anywhere, and generally offers release date delivery on games, so they just show up at your door the same day everybody else gets them, at the same price (sometimes lower) and you don't even have to stand in a line to get them.

So many complaints about Gamestop over the years. They are still in business. Guess most people are unaware of their sleazy rep.

Gamestop always has problems.   I have always used Best Buy since 2003 screw up with Gamestop and Best Buy has gone out of their way every single time I had an issue,  in fact one time I got a STEAM card that was inactive,  they called the company who makes the card and activated for me right over the phone...   goodluck having gamestop do something that drastic for you.

I hate to say it, but most people you see screaming at the police do not know their rights.

People who know their rights just file paperwork until a change is made....   same advice I give the OP

I'd say even Gamestop Headquarters doesn't even know about their sleazy rep, or they would would stop their employee misconduct, and audit their stores for sound practices that ensure no hidden back door screwing of their customers.

That is a real amateur support guy you were talking to.

All that guy needed to do was ask for some confirmation, heck even call Gamestop if he had to to confirm your pre order purchase.I would even think you have a digital receipt as well,it would be the law.

I think it just further proves this lame gimmick of segregating players from each other based on money is very lame, people should quit supporting it altogether.I have never and never will pay for a pre-order it is 100% lame.

I go waaaaaay back to when pre-orders first cropped up in game sales, the SOLE purpose was to insure a copy.it had NOTHING to do with getting in a game earlier than everyone else.Well go figure the purpose of insuring your copy was not met lol,so they can't even get it a 20 year old idea right.../sad.

You're the only one spouting nonsense about "subhuman" and "less of a person."  I'm just pointing out that, judged objectively, it doesn't make any sense to spend money at GameStop unless you have individual circumstances that render other options non-viable (I.E. you have no access to Amazon for some reason and GameStop is the only retailer near where you live.) because they offer no potential pluses over the other options, and have a reputation for numerous potential minuses.

Well no offense but based off our little chat you shouldn't be giving legal advice to anyone, especially on a video game website.

I suppose you should be?   A little double standard there.   What's it going to hurt if someone knows their rights?   They might actually get good service as a result.   Why wouldn't you want that?   Unless you have a vested interest in the company that did the wrongdoing tot he OP....  anyways I said what I wanted to in order to help the OP, he can make up his own mind what he wants to do,

Why come on MMORPG to post this when you should really be cancelling your preorder and reording it from someone reputable.

Gamestop is pretty bad about pre-ordering.  It's happened with several games I've heard.  I can remember people not getting The Burning Crusade, because Gamestop took more pre-orders than they had copies available.
  • DAS1337DAS1337 Member UncommonPosts: 2,610

    That sucks.

I pre-ordered my box Imperial version from Gamestop and already got the code.  It's been credited to my account, but I did it through the ESO website.  I haven't gotten my explorer pack information though, as I'm wondering whether or not it will just be there when I log in, or if I'll actually have to wait for the physical copy code, when it arrives post launch.

ok since not everyone is aware yet, ill let you in on the big secret, ( not really a secret)

game stop has been staling from its custermers for years they commonly  take things out of what are supposed to be bundled items and sell the bundle for the same price as normal then the items taken out as well seperatly.

codes collectors edition items, and whats not they have been doing it for years, and they also tend to ignore it when thier empoyees takes things and sell them on e-bay and what not so long aas they dont hurt the bottem line for the company.

if you are still buying things at game stop, just stop.

F2P may be the way of the future, but ya know they dont make them like they used toimage

Problem is, he wont get his physical collectors edition then, and after launch people will sell them for 3 times the amount you would have paid for it normally.   These game stop employees know that.   That is why they screwed him like they did.  You cannot find a physical edition anywhere that's not sold out right now.

Hell, back in 2005, I ordered the Wookie DLC for Star Wars Galaxies, with bonus materials, plus, a code for an exclusive speeder, only associated with that DLC, and, all I got was a standard game disc a week later in the mail. Plus, even though the order was around 24 bucks, the company waived the cross border duties, and, I ended up paying another 40 bucks to the shipping company for the delivery, even though I had paid the international shipping costs for the package. And, the worst part, even after I complained to Gamestop, and, Lucas Arts, along with SONY, I never did get the bonus material I paid full price for, nor, was I able to get a refund, even after sending the DLC back, unopened. And, 1 week before the DLC went live on the game, Gamestop was selling the bonus materials on EBAY, for nothing less then 45 bucks. They were stealing from paying customers, stealing from the SWG game company, and, they were making huge amount of cash off those sales, and neither SONY, or, Lucas arts cared about at all.

Simply put, I'll never buy another product from then, not in a billion years, or, end of time.

I have had a lot of trouble with gamestop though i will admit i found ONE where i live that is REALLY good. the people are nice and my preorders are allways there. im no big spender so i do not get the "vip" treatment that you speak of. BUT i did feel like i was being screwed in the past at other game stops from AZ to PA.

Gotta love all these busy bodies talking about getting the police involved over this issue. Jesus Christ.

I work as an escalations officer for a large wagering company, basically I deal with priority accounts that spends hundreds of thousands and sometimes millions of dollars with our company, attempting to resolve any issues they may have.

I refuse to file complains for customers all the time, I tell them no, you're just being silly, and I will point them in direction of the rules. Even things that dont occur within the confines of the rules, rarely do I ever have to back down or allow the customer to have their way. The OP absolutely had every right to complain, but to think that companies are entitled to listen to and acknowledge consumer complaints is just false. 3rd party organizations like the BBB or an ombudsman will exclusively side with the company if the dispute is even vaguely covered under the most obscure set of rules or regulations.

Quite frankly to the guy saying he'd sue and all that, you havent the slightest idea what you're talking about.

You must not have any idea what your talking about, if you think some one cant sue a company because of that. It costs 30 bucks, and the corporation if you sued them for 200 bucks, wont even show up. So you fall in with the busy bodies to lol.

I personally have never had any issues with Gamestop. Mostly I buy digital downloads just to save on taxes if nothing else. But when I do want a physical copy Gamestop is 2 miles down the road.

It sucks the OP did not get his 5 day code. I would be a little pissed too. But in the overall scheme of things I would just not do business with that store anymore. Plenty of other options to buy from.

Not worth getting too bent out of shape over for sure.
