This video looks fantastic. However, in my 15 years of playing MMOs.. i've come to learn the only thing I really care about is gameplay. Hopefully the game is as fun as it is great to look at.

This is the most promising game in the last decade, unfortunately that isn't saying much.

I hope they're alot smarter then the ArcheAge people when it comes to deadlines because that game is all but extinct in the consumers eyes due to it's horribly long release.

Yup kind of makes it all pointless sadly.. but it is a very nice character creation system.. something to compete with APBs I guess.

Everyone looked the same in cbt1 because they hadn't added  character customization.

Uhm the classes where gender locked in the beginning but they are making some of them useable on both sexes I believe.

The texturing and details are above average and the customization is impressive, However unless they add some variety to the armours everyone will look the same, and since clothing shows a-lot more than everything else. Who is going to care for those details above gameplay, for eye coloring and face blush or even tattoos if the armours presented all look the same.

Gender locked classes is going to ruin it for me. I do not want to be forced to play a female character to play as a Ranger or a male character to play as Melee/Warrior. They are charming many by the great customization and graphics but at the end of the day gameplay is what will keep players playing.

At the end of the day ill still give it a run with the superb graphics both character wise and landscape too. Crossing my fingers they add some different clothing selections in the future. Only Warhammer; Online got the pass for using gender locked for me, but regardless gender locked classes can burn in 2008 hell.

Here is an amazing image displaying how beautiful the characters will be

and here is a kitten praying for the removal of gender locked classing in black desert

Yeah, I remember them saying they were looking into it back in 2010.

    Or FOUR YEARS ago.

    So, dont hold your breath.

Everyone had same armor models in cbt because it was a cbt. It's not like it's going to stay that way. Kinda silly to argue about that imo.

When you have graphics this nice there are many negatives that come along with it.

Longer development times for patches and updates and because of that less content, fewer players due to high system requirements, limits to what kind of content you can add due to each model taking up so much of your systems resources.

It's a pretty game but we already have pretty mmo titles, we need games that are fun to play once you reach cap.  Amazing visuals have been shown to not make blockbuster titles, many of the current most successful titles aren't that great to look at.

Two classes will be gender locked, the rest are not.
  • zwei2zwei2 Member Posts: 361
It is definately beautiful, but it is to lifelike at the same time. Similiar to those eerie Japanese androids that can virtually replace a human and not get found out to be a robot... scary...

The possibility of the universe collapsing into a singularity is higher than the birth of a perfect MMORPG.

I hope it does not have a sub, in the end it's some boring soulless grind and all I want to play is the character creator :> Really though, if this game is any good and I end up trying it, it will take like 10 hours to create my char. I think I spent something like 3 hours in EVE and this one has a lot more options!

They better have option to save up templates, when you spend 5 hours creating your char and notice some flaw right after the login it's kinda bull to start all over trying to get everything just right again and then forget to fix the flaw and go again >_>'

Nice graphics, but that does not help gameplay much.  If it is true that classes are gender locked, what a waste.  It just means it is a prettier typical f2p game.  They all play the same with lots of grind.  Korean tastes and ours in the west just don't mesh.

Yes, the most important thing is how you look in game, you play it only for that goal - to look fancy *Insert Derp?*. Sry, this is not a dress up game, it is a MMORPG, so please don't play it. And yes all characters will look alike, and will wear the same armor - only one armor for all :)

I could care less what my character would look like and the reason gender locked classes will ruin it for me is that we will all look the same. It is 2014 and Gender Locked Classes should be a thing of the past, I fear more focus is going into the customization of characters builds and faces and may be overshadowed by the lack of variety of armour selection (Too Early To Make That Call). What concerns me more is the Gameplay side of Black Desert rather than pretty graphics, as MMORPG's do not need pretty things to push people to play.

At the end of the day it is GAMEPLAY that will make people want to play and stay.

Pretty Graphics are surely a plus, but what are pretty graphics without variety, you may like everyone looking and feeling like they aren't apart of the world, and they aren't immersed in a world. Black Desert offers it both in customization and Landscape but falls short on variety (FOR NOW). The customization is impressive and it has variety, all the development team has to do is add a couple of new variety and boom it is set. Please don't be a bastard as nobody likes one in game or on forums. No "one armour for all".

You may like Gender locked classes and may care more for pretty customizations and builds looking and feeling exactly the same, that does not mean we have too or will accept it. It is about gameplay and you know it deep down in that shallow mind of yours.Regardless of my hate for Gender Locked Classes and this quote "Only One Armour For All *Deal with it*" an MMORPG to me personally will always be about gameplay. I will be trying out Black Desert like anyone else who is interested in it, and hope the praying cat in my first post hits your blinded soul to realization that Gender Locked Classes kills variety on the field. Dress up games are probably better than what you consider an MMORPG of today.

The most important thing is the gameplay, not how you look in a game. Please don't play it if you're going to be a bastard. Nobody likes a Bastard. Let me give you some advice bastard. Never forget what you are. The rest of the world will not. Wear it like armor, and it can never be used to hurt you.

At 2:42 of the character creation vid, did anyone else think that girl was going to change into the last boss from Virtua Fighter?

And you know nothing about this game, but I appreciate your point of view /joking, I don't/ So let play ugly games, like... WoW?

Please read about what Black Desert is in fact, than write a post, and I will read it with all of my respect. But right now you talk in generalities."

Here is an example for you as you made it about me only caring for the clothes and looks of my character very much so ignoring my deep hate for gender locking. Let's just go ahead and give you a taste. Below can you see the amazing customization you put all your work into? what do you see most on the characters and what seems to be the same.

They both look the same but that can be fixed as its still in development and also the ranger class happens to be female so if I find you on the field, expect an arrow between your eyes. Unless you're lucky and a male equiv is avaliable. Even if im restrained to looking the same as another that does not mean I will avoid the game like the plaque. The game shows amazing promise and looks fantastic!

Pretty graphics are a plus it is not required, customization has variety, now cross our fingers for some armour variety as IT WOULD BE NICE. I NEVER SAID IT WAS REQUIRED IN MY MMORPG TASTES as you make it seem. and I honestly do not care for graphics as it is about gameplay at the end of the day.

It does not undo the potential Black Desert has one bit

    Have a swell day.

    *REPLY FOR ABOVE POST*

TL;DR 4Simpleton - We aren't talking about the Gameplay or Graphics at least not seriously. We are talking about You and YOUR post besieging my own. You Attempted To Twist My Words & Besieged my post for no real reason other than being a forum warrior who likes to spout rude comments. I'm shell-shocked you have the audacity to say such a thing, cause if I knew you I would have done more than reply in the calm and collected way I did. I'm not letting you get away with telling me not to play a game I have interested in playing, and attempting to make it seem like I'm only interested in dress-up games. Hilarious. But No Free Passes - Even now you continue onwards like an innocent child who didn't do anything wrong.

--------------LOL--------------I take every comment seriously, and especially snickering comments that are set up to piss me off intentionally. Again no free passes. =] Unless you say you're sorry for your entire post.

Firstly I am calm. (But Clearly Upset at the following Quote "you play it only for that goal - to look fancy. Sry, this is not a dress up game") Really? You cant figure it out with that head of yours? You twisted my words. and made something out of nothing IMPORTANT or related to the thread. You set a siege to my post and didn't say anything interesting one bit, except for tastelessness which was shrugged off.

I am simply responding in a sizzling way as you have towards me. The Dress up comment was tasteless and your failed attempt to change my wording to make it seem all I cared for was customization and clothing in MMORPG's. Also telling me "Please don't play Black Desert." cause you totally love variety!. would send anyone to make a haste reply and it did send me a negative vibe. Either way the limitations can easily be overcome by future development. I'm sure they will have plenty of choices and possibly more variety clothing/armour wise beyond. It matters little.

Also you seem to care a great deal for defending the lack of clothing variety and it puzzles me since my post was more about gender locked classes. What I'm trying to tell you is that I'm not happy with you twisting my post into something stupid. You also seem to like to toss opinions and written words to the curb while spouting what you will. It Sent me to respond to you swiftly - I'll admit I quoted Game of Thrones (Bastard Quote) and used it against you. I had a slight laugh but I'm already over it. You made something out of little to nothing and caused me to reply this way by telling me that Black Desert is not for me and "Sry, This is not a Dress-up Game." really just irked me the wrong way.

Hence My Reply After and after again and now and this is my final posting regarding this matter as you cannot make something out of little to nothing. MMORPG's are better with kind players that help one another out and not try to find ways to become enemies and the same on forums.  I will reply back to you in the same way you did with me.

I hope you don't play as those who make something out of nothing, and toss meaningless rants that nobody really cares about really just irks me. I won't see to your opinions until you realize why you deserved such a reply, and that is without sting or tasteless comments before or after, and let you feel as Iv felt for only a few minutes to which its been many minutes. to which these words are pointless to which your words are pointless as fighting against a topic like this is just a gigantic facepalm.

Moving on to bigger topics, like how amazing that video is!
