Wouldn't it just be easier for you to NOT go on forums, where you are exposed to things that makes you emotionally upset?
That's the only thing you have control of really
I really don't get people getting upset about others not liking their game. If it's well populated, has a community you like and it's getting updated enough, why do people even care so much?
Sometimes i think players just invest too much emotionaly to these mmos, and financialy later on, and then have to defend it from any form of criticism, viable or trollish, to make it feel like it was worth it.
Not everyone who uses the internet is logical, emotionally balanced or sane. If they were, the internet wouldn't be as entertaining
One of the worst mistakes anyone can make is to get attached on a game in a way that any negative criticism towards that game feels like a personal attack.

back in the late 90s (at the time of Ultima Online online launch) online gaming was basically non existent. most "gamers" had never heard of mmos, and instead played Golden Eye and Mortal Combat on Nintendo 64 and Playstations. the mmorpg community was minuscule compared to today. i was quite the heavy gamer back then, but even i had never heard of mmos. all my gaming was done on consoles, and even computer games where single player games. PVP back then meant having multiple controllers, and you buddies sitting beside you....or if you were very nerdy, LAN parties ...
MMORPG communities were small, personal, and very undemanding. Very few people had played online games which made everything new, exciting, and adventurous. nobody really knew any better.
it really wasn't until mid 2000s (about the same time that WoW came out) that "online gaming" and the word mmo started emerging from the deep dark basement of obscurity.
if you think about it the highest population that UO managed to hold was about 250,000 (in 2003), while WoW's sub based reached 10,000,000 just a few years after.
these days WoW still has most of it's population, and and there are a TON of other games on the market, many of them with communities in the millions. i mean almost any new game that comes out has an "online" aspect these days. the gaming community as whole has ballooned incredibly in the last 10 years.
When you think about it, even just mathematically, if there were 10 trolls at the time of UO keeping the same percentage that would make 10,000+ trolls now, and usually unhappy people are the loudest of all. Add to that the fact that most gamers today have very high expectations, little patience, and incredible variety to choose from and you can understand why things are they way they are.
sadly the only way to get a taste of what UO and the original EQ provided as far as community goes is to play an obscure game that has a very small tight knit community. As far as the troll go, they will only just keep getting more and louder. all you can do is play more and read forums less.
There are plenty of those every launch though...
True enough, and while nobody likes their game to have a bad launch, things just sometimes go wrong, take the latest one to 'hit the fan' if the overly emotionally attached players take it too personally when other players complain about issues with the game, then their just going to over stress themselves for no good reason, no doubt the game will be fixed eventually and the complaints will die down, and until then just need to chill out and accept, when the road is rocky, there will be people complaining about the bumps, at least until they fix all the pot holes
This.
Some people here act as if saying something negative about game is same as abusing their loved ones.

Yes, I've read a poem. Try not to faint.
Gosh my heads spinning after reading this .... and I think I understand what your saying .... I think ... ?
Heh... Not only did you imply that you know better and try to convince everyone else to accept your preference as their own, you did it using the age old fast food metaphor which everyone knows is a troll bait.
I skate to where the puck is going to be, not where it has been -Wayne Gretzky
Who doesn't imply they know better if they feel that way? The metaphor was just something I truly feel. It's nothing to do with inciting a fight amongst people. If that were to happen though it's not a bad thing IMO. It's part of what is missing from MMOs now. There is no interaction good or bad. There is just jumping into the game and jumping out of the game. Almost everything social is handled for you.
I really wish the Internet was less entertaining then. I hate stupid people.
Played: UO, EQ, WoW, DDO, SWG, AO, CoH, EvE, TR, AoC, GW, GA, Aion, Allods, lots more
Relatively Recently (Re)Played: HL2 (all), Halo (PC, all), Batman:AA; AC, ME, BS, DA, FO3, DS, Doom (all), LFD1&2, KOTOR, Portal 1&2, Blink, Elder Scrolls (all), lots more
Now Playing: None
Hope: None
That's because people get far too emotionally invested in their games. These are games, not anything important. Play them or don't. Love them or don't. Nobody ought to care. The people who do are the people who have emotional issues that need to be addressed by a professional.

As others have stated, just because some player(s) do not like a game you are in love with, does not mean they do not like you, though that may also be true
Well, unless they say something stupid like "This game is retarded. Just like all the players who play it are." Then I think you have a case to be upset.

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.- FARGIN_WAR
That is illogical. They entertain you. Don't you like to be entertained?
A worse mistake is to do that, and also be a whale and dumped lots of $$ into said game.
Depends if the account was perma banned or not. He did say 2010, that's 4 years ago. I've had a "limited ban" one time too on an account I deleted.
As to what he is so emotional about, is the hate towards all new titles by EQ/DAoC/UO vets that will never get their glory days back anyway. A pointless rant tbh but to each their own
just not worth it anymore...
real gaming is dead forever
This, of course, is never practical since people can keep making new accounts.
Stupid people don't entertain me, they frustrate me. They make the Internet less entertaining. That's why I want them to go away.

By that logic it isn't worth banning accounts to begin with.
