Missing gold and bank slots, Gold-Spammers everywhere, lousy forum software!

movros99movros99 Member UncommonPosts: 125

Fellow players,

I have been enjoying ESO but I've run into a brick wall today.  This afternoon, like so many other players, my purchased extra bank slots are now missing along with tons of items and gold.  I know it's still early in release but these are game-breaking issues.  I can deal with occasional broken quests and long load-in times but this is evidence of severe server-side software malfunction and security issues.

Speaking of security issues, gold-spammers have been out in force!  I can only assume that they are accessing accounts which have been hacked and turned in to spam bots.  ZOS claims to have levied the ban hammer on tons of accounts but I'm not seeing the effects.  Also, there are a number of bot-farming groups stationed at various locations.  I've reported all of this of course but who knows what happens to those reports.

I have to wonder why these issues weren't detected during beta.  The weekend-only beta phases worried me at the time because I believe the servers wouldn't receive the stress necessary to produce usable data. Also why are there no authentication security protocols in place?  Security authenticators are very much common place these days and should be easy enough to set up.  My Battle.net and Entropia accounts have them.

Finally, I have to complain about the forums that ZOS is using.  The software is terrible and the forums were not put in to use until the release?!  All different languages are mixed together in a confusing jumble.  What was the point of this?  The forums should have been up and running during beta so that they could be ironed out and not an issue right now. With all the other problems Zenimax is facing it's doubtful we'll see major improvements to their forum software any time soon.

Again I hate to rant and I get that this is a new game.  I have been completely tolerant of the quest bugs and unexpected down-times as these are issues to be expected.  I have my account changed to cancel until these issues are resolved.  Zenimax to their credit has been fairly responsive to customer feedback so we'll see what happens but as of right now I will remain unsubbed.  My goal is to PvP heavily and that is another area that is severely broken right now.

Regards,

Mo

    take it easy.

    its their first MMO.

give them some 50 year everything will be fine.

Gold spammers play every new MMO, It usually takes 1-3 months until the problem is finally solved (even though a rare spam can occur later as well).

The missing gold and bankslots are worse, but hopefully they fix that for you tomorrow. Few techs works on a sunday.

First MMO release by the company, that is why it usually is better to wait a little time before buying a newly released MMO.

And yes, of course it sucks but I never seen a MMO that didn't have plenty of issues at launch.

It is not just that there are different bots spamming in chat every 20 seconds, there is no easy way to report them. This game is in dire need of a right-click report gold seller option.

Yeah, it is funny that all MMO devs seems to think that their games wont have problems with goldspammers so they don't bother having stuff like that in from launch, and then they shocked have to add them in afterwards.

I agree, but it wont be enough. All other MMOs have been forced to do a lot more to get rid of the spammers, usually they add some things several times before it dies down. Spammers are pretty inventive after all.

I have not heard of any MMO release that had you log into random peoples accounts, trash your inventory and bank, has a huge list of exploits and dupes and is completely bugged to top it off.

This is the worst i have heard. Glaring security issues everywhere.

    (...)

Gold spammers are there, always and forever. Thank the crowds with "123456" as their password.

    /report, /ignore, move on.

If any company had some smarts, they'd have some GM's stationed in (at least some of) the realms, or multi box it and filter the chat for gold seller terms, then when they see one advertising, BOOM, insta-ban. No idea, why no one, and I mean not a one, is doing this...

are you sure zenimax is not punishing you for buying gold?
  • MixoplixMixoplix Member UncommonPosts: 10
Also when you /ignore a gold seller, you are ignoring their entire account. So those gold farmers have to buy the software for each person, and with one ignore, all of the characters on that account are now ignored. Is it annoying? Yes. Another thing you can do is level out of the first map and they drastically are reduced. As far as missing gold and bank slots, I'm sure that will get fixed and I haven't heard anyone else have such an issue, so make sure you put in your ticket and follow up on it. Also, the game released 2 weeks ago...Every launch to the public is like this, only this is one the better I've ever experienced in my 25 years of online gaming. Things will get fixed and these annoyances will eventually be worked out.

FFXIV experienced this same issue,   Hackers were using the IP of people next to auction boards, and then would steal all their gil when it launched....

We are going to have to face the fact that hacking has taken a whole new level in MMORPG's.

You can report "players" by right clicking on their name in chat.  They can also be easily added to ignore and it does get to a point where you see them less.  FF XIV was far worse, at launch.

I'm more frustrated by the bots in open dungeons, but I'm sure they'll be addressed.  Not that they are in the way or prevent completion, just that they are present.  Sadly they come with mechanics of things being open.  SWG had the same issue, at one point.

Gold Spammers....trivial issue.  Loosing your bank, or getting your skill points wiped (and not returned they just vanish), a never ending stream of quests that get blocked, unblocked and blocked again, worsening lag (today certainly on the EU server) etc. etc.

the game I played today is worse than the one I played on that first non PTS weekend way back when. Arguably far worse. I actually really like(d) the game but unless they shape up pretty quick they are going to really damage their credibility. Shame, I'm sad, as I say I like it but the frustration factor is way to high.

Yea, not so much anymore. But the bugs and crashes will be fixed, ESO is too high profile for anything else.

Sure, there are some issues, but nothing that's upset me too much really.

I lost my bank slot upgrade and some gold, but that was hardly a "game breaking" issue for me. I'm enjoying the game play immensely, so nothing short of losing all my characters completely will probably phase me at this point, lol

Their forums are crap, but who cares about that ? I've never considered the quality of a game's forum software to be a major factor influencing my enjoyment of the game. If they had NO forums I couldn't care less. There's tons of fansites with active discussions, and there's always Reddit...

The goldsellers are likely using software to create fake CC #'s to create accounts temporarily, and also just stealing other accounts, so not costing them much to get into the game - dunno who at Zenimax thought it was a good idea to make everyone's account login name so accessible.  Spam in chat I can ignore fast, the speed hack farmers are another story - they are getting now the lions share of the resources out there and converting it into the gold they sell back to players.  They can sweep all the nodes in a zone in a couple of minutes, and are also now mostly operating invisible.  Banning accounts won't fix that problem, they need a coding fix asap.  They also need to create an alias system for account usernames so ppl won't have their real usernames so exposed.

Couple of short videos showing the speed hack farmers at work:

    Before they went invisible:

And after (now you need to have your cursor pointing where they poof in to see a nametag)

This is so true of EVERY game and lends us to wonder why?I think it is obvious, these games really do not afford much money into customer support or preventative maintenance. The focus from day 1 is meeting that release deadline, then start the cash flow coming in.Then AFTER the fact developers start to address issues,so you see it is not about quality control but ALWAYS about profit/loss and rushing the product.

If there were in game functions which i agree should be in place there would literally be thousands of reports every couple days. They are not going to allot that kind of time to respond to problems that concern the players. The FACT that it is VERY easy to implement and nobody is doing it,proves they really don't care about that topic that much,at least not enough to warrant spending time and resources on it above and beyond a few people maybe 2 days a month.

The report options are there, it's just kind of an annoying process. Instead of the option automatically sending the required information (like the name and a copy of the chat log containing te advertisement, etc) it opens the same panel you use to report bugs, report players for other reasons, etc and have to basically fill out a ticket to simply report gold spam in chat. Gets kind of annoying to do by the time you get to reporting the 50th account.

On the bright side... at least it isnt FFXIV. Right click to ignore? Pffft nobody will ever need that. Surely we won't have any gold spammers at all and nobody will ever want to block them in their chat.

True but there are issues and then there are game breaking issues.

A guildie of mine quit yesterday because he lost all of his 80K gold. He was so upset on the vent, poor guy. He was one of our best crafters and he sunk too many hours and time into the game. He just didn't have it in him to start again.

But ofcourse people are gonna tell you 'hey its normal for every MMO launch'..easier said than done right? the bugs in this game are on some whole another level.

Different people have different thresholds. What to one person is a mild bother might be back breaking to another. One thing I always treasure is my time. Money is not an issue to me subscriptions and what not I would even pay extra to get off a server if it meant it would improve my latency I even did that in WoW to avoid a server routing . But if a game takes away the time I sunk into something like crafting and due to bugs it eats into my time that I will and have quit over.

Never ever assume that these bugs and problems affect people as they might affect you . They better fix all these things pronto because AION became unplayable because of gold sellers and bots. I am keen on playing but not with all these issues looming. Giving it a few months.

  • burmeseburmese Member Posts: 546

The invisible bots do not become visible when farming, but you can see their names if your mouse pointer is aimed correctly.

Here's a video from today where I caught a visible bot farming and held them up at a node for a bit by farming, but not looting the node:

Lol wow.. its just almost shocking at how many defend gold sellers, missing items, bank and what not.  Someone says relax its there 1st mmo. What is this 2004? No its 2014 and what we know how this works better then the devs? Get to past 2-3 maps and its none stop gold spam.  They change names after about the 2nd post. Well this was Sat.. come on Sun wow still going on.

Any other mmo and it would really bother me but theres no AH and HAHA man the price for the gold keeps dropping and dropping. This is the 1st mmo I NEVER needed to go to the AH to buy something I needed. I can get EVERYTHING I need. Turn my whites to green greens to blues and on and on. Its easy.

I found I am getting tons of gold so I just brake down all my loot now. This gives me all I need to make better. This for me SUCKS. It should be way harder.
