I dont get it.. or people didn't read the features list of this game on the website.
This game right here will be sandbox of 2014..
Everyone on these forums talking about how boring and the same all the AAA mmorpgs are, talking about sandbox games and the need of a good sandbox..
Now this indie company making new SWG sandbox of 2014 and none is talking about it? what is wrong here?
Dont you like the SCFI settings of the repopulation?
Didn't you read features lists of this game?
Or you do think that this game needs to have more or better marketing ?
Why are you not hyped about this game?
Keep buying games like eso and AA or wildstar while this project with blow away those generetic mmorpgs...

Well my guess is that it is a smaller developer...
So most people probably aren't classing it as a AAA game
The game is on my radar but I'm just going to wait until more details / reviews come through
I'm pretty sure no one is hyped because it is unlikely to actually come out soon. If memory serves they said it would be out last year, and yet...
When there is a concrete release there will be more hype.
Additionally, features list isn't the same as actual gameplay enjoyment. I hope it turns out to be everything I've ever wanted, but I never got the feeling that it would actually be good from all the videos. if it is good, the hype will show up after reviews do I would expect.

Likely because it probably wont even be out in 2014. Development on it is taking a long time. It had more hype a year or so back than it does now because people were finding out about it then. Now, people already know about it and have just been waiting, waiting, waiting. Been in a very closed alpha for so long that very few have even gotten to actually play it. Once they start doing some betas and getting more people into the game hype will pick up again, as long as it is doing well.
Lots of us are keeping an eye on the game and just waiting for something to actually happen aside from getting monthly news reports.

Too much promises with 0 gameplay vids to prove it, except for some boring generic combat that looked really awful
Black Desert looks way better
I think I actually spent way more time reading and theorycrafting about MMOs than playing them
Hype is for people who need someone standing behind them with pom-poms shouting to make a decision. I'd rather the devs focus on getting the game to launch instead of trying to get all the sheeple moving in any one direction.
Not to go off topic, but I can't wait for black desert as well lol.
the answer is marketing. big companies invest a lot of money on marketing like NCSOFT that is why almost every one know about wild star.
but path of exile was made by idie company and did not have hype of diablo 3 but at the end it is doing well. i hope that game goes same way.
I think NCSOFT spent more money on advertisement on taxis at PAX East then our budget.
We go through periods where we market more than other months. Things probably will be a bit quiet until we get into Beta and/or start doing press reviews. A lot of people are aware of the title and are waiting to see a bit more or get access so they can check it out themselves.
Things will ramp up in a month or two and we have a few smaller things planned this month including the Twitch Q/A on Monday.

Wow, really?? What we need is less sheep and more thinking.
Do you really think hyping a game based on a list of features is what gamers need??
We've seen planty of this in past, it couses people blindly preorder and than they rage when released material is not even close to what they imagined.
Don't get me wrong, this game is on top of my list since about a year or so ago and it's the only game I ever backed - not to get anything just to support good ideas...
Still I'm here telling what you're saying is a class A sheep material that should go away.
And why on earth wouldn't people buy and play already released games while waiting on games they may as well get released a year from now??

This.
Release the game and maybe i get hype. untill then i dont care.

Winner.
And also planned F2P out of the gate lowers expectations quite a bit.
You forgot toothless, dirty and carrying pitchforks and torches .... Grrrrrrr argh
The game was never slated to release before 2014. They pushed back alpha phases a couple times due to engine updates, but that's about it.
There is no hype for the game because people dont want to play true free form sandboxes. They are too complicated for many people and require too much time investment to "understand" it. The fact that its a indy development team doing it ON top of the fact that its no fantasy also reduces its hype level. Then there is the irrational fear that the hero engine means it will suck and be ridden with issues because SWTOR used it. Peopel had high expectation for SWTOR and since it bombed and they can't bring themselves to blame bioware for the failure they blame the engine which is stupid since, during the conceptual stages of the game's development, the company planned on trying to make SWTOR a co-op RPG and not an MMORPG. They essenitally tried to create a multiplayer version of KoTR and change money for it. That's why it failed.

Well I'm waiting and keeping my hopes up.
I wasn't particularly inspired by some of the gameplay videos but I'm patient and I'll wait for them to polish it up.
It's got awesome features.. all they need is the good gameplay and we're set.
