WildStar: The Simple Power of a Tweet

SBFordSBFord Former Associate EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 33,129

Last week, Carbine asked fans to 'tweet' how they would be getting ready for WildStar's debut. The chosen winner would receive a personal visit from members of the team. One user posted a very personal Tweet that left all others behind.

Tony Reyes, Community Manager and Sean Clanton, Social Media Manager flew to Baugh’s home in Indianapolis, IN for a very special presentation of some great WildStar and Alienware gifts.

    Echoing my last post,

I dont care if some retards or haters are calling this marketing.

As long as this women feels better and is happy it's all that really matter. It's the little things.

Some companies are marketing their game throwing money to build ridiculous chopper while other are juste being nice with fans.

I have donated to help husband.

Of course this is intelligent marketing and good business on the part of the Wildstar team; however, it was greatly appreciated by the woman and obviously something good to do.   Win-Win?

Easy to be a cynical gamer but lets just say this was a good deed.

Feels good man, feels good. I remember what it was like when I was leaving for BMT. I was excited, but my family was not. Respect for all the military families out there.

If the title of the game were World of Warcraft and the developer name were Blizzard we would see what people truly think of this act.

Boobs are LIFE, Boobs are LOVE, Boobs are JUSTICE, Boobs are mankind's HOPES and DREAMS. People who complain about boobs have lost their humanity.

I fail to see the difference if Blizzard did this.  What am I missing?

Meh, publicity is all it is.  Make the consumers think you actually care.  Really no different than when all the "evil" big corperations did make a wish, tsunami relief, ect ect funds that the company with match or a portion of a service the consumer buys they will contribute to said fund.

    Of course they care.

They could have asked UPS, or something like that, to deliver the gifts.

They gave the family a year of Wildstar for free.

It's clear they went above what they had to do.

So many of you 'thinking' its a great marketing n good business..... for whom?...

they didnt do nothing for me.

Looks to me that wildstar team is just celebrating the game release with its fans!- not recruiting...take your tin hats off please.

respect to the military n their families!

Its both nice and good marketing. Nothing wrong with crossing that line IMO. Happy for her and hope she enjoys it =-)

That was pretty cool.  A developer who "gets" the gamers that keep their games going.  Very nice, and some sweet sweet loot there.  Good luck in Boot camp, been there myself.  Very crazy but fun time of life.

I think it's great that a game company is willing to support a military family.  To often people forget that our men and woman, sons and daughters, from many countries are still serving in harm's way.   The families are also going through sacrifices while their loved ones are away.  Kudos to Carbine for showing a little bit of appreciation.

Definitely marketing, definitely an act of kindness, definitely refreshing to see a company do something to actually help out it's customers.

Definitely a marketing ploy. I wish more companies used this kind of marketing. Good for them I say!
