No but Blizzard is an American company and you have to do what THEY say in THEIR game. And as for being in another country thats nice and Im glad I dont have to live in such a place.Thats why we are the last great superpower on this planet.
Americans want nothing to do with gays.Look at all the polls.
In beastiality, same as pedophilia, one of the subejcts of the sexual acts does not consiously or willingly participate (or has no understanding of the nature of the act). However, a homosexual relationship is based on willing and consious involvement, much like a heterosexual one. It is therefore improper, if not misleading and propagandistic, to compare homosexual relationships to beastiality or other forms where one participant is being exploited.
Be it a form of conscious choice, sickness, genetic anomaly or whatever, the bottom line is that it's a relationship that concerns only the involved parties and does not disrupt society. As to this, there is no reason whatsoever for which they should not be part of society on equal basis and not discriminated upon.
Would it be too cliche if I said I feel sorry for etkiller007's children to have such a lousy parent?
Currently playing: * City of Heroes: Deggial, Assault Rifle/Devices Blaster. Server: Defiant. * City of Villains: Snakeroot, Plant/Thorns Dominator. Server: Defiant.
Look, its simple, they made they game, perhaps homosexuals and lesbians scare off players in their games, anyway, they spent many years in development, so they can boot you out for being a homo if they want. Similarly, if you make your own game, you can ban players for not being gay.
Originally posted by Shimmre I am the person that this post is about so I suppose I should comment. First let me say that I have contacted EVERY possible source of media that I could think of, as well as every possible glbt activist group asking for assistance with the matter. I may or may not be able to take legal action (prolly not, but worth a try), but at the VERY least I hope to make this story public. It has been long thought that gaming companies support glbt friendly guilds. As you'll see in this article written about glbt friendly guilds in In News Weekly (http://www.innewsweekly.com/innews/?class_code=Ga&article_code=941) which quotes one of the PRODUCERS of World of Warcraft as saying that they support a glbt friendly atmosphere. This leads me to believe that the GM who I was reported to was probably either a bigot themselves, and grasping for any policy that they could twist around to fit their needs. And of course, once they've made such a large mistake, the GMs who followed up on the issue wouldn't dare go against the prior one. So as they grasped for more and more straws, they became more and more offensive with their replies. At one point, they went so far as to basically say that we bring hate and harrassment upon ourselves by being open about who we are. This is simply NOT an acceptable thing for a company to say. I'm outraged more, not because they aren't supportive of glbt friendly guilds. . . but because of the way the situation was handled and the unnacceptable comments that were made in follow up emails. It's FLOODED with discriminatory remarks against homosexuals if you really analyze their emails. For those of you that don't understand the importance of glbt friendly guilds, I won't argue my stance. . . but I will explain briefly the reasoning for glbt friendly guilds. As sleepyguy already stated, many guilds are based on social interaction. Yes, this is a video game. But it's not JUST a video game that you play on your Playstation by itsself. It is a video game that is also a virtual world that players interact with one another in. Because of this, players' personalities shine through their characters when they interact with others. Especially when we start using programs such as TeamSpeak and Ventrillo. As we all know, not everyone in the world is accepting (or even tolerating) of glbt people. Many people even spread words of hate, without being provoked. It's just. . . who they are. That hate doesn't stop pouring from someone simply because they're sitting at their computer. As a matter of fact, it can be a lot more prevalent in their online personality, because they're safe at home behind a computer. This also goes the other way around. Some gay people are very flamboyant, simply because that's who they are. When you put these two types of people together on TeamSpeak or Ventrillo. . . things prolly aren't going to be pretty. So to prevent things from getting out of hand, we let people know that we are glbt friendly so that glbt member know that they can be themselves while playing the game. . . also so that people who are bigoted toward glbt members know not to join that guild (coz chances are they don't wanna play with "fags" anyway). Just like in real life, where we have clubs and establishments that are glbt friendly, it's an unfortunate necessity in the world we live in today. I do wish that glbt friendly guilds and establish weren't necessary. . . but the fact remains that, unfortunately, they are. That said, here is the email I've sent to EVERY source of media that I could find (as well as all civil rights activist groups that I found), along with copies of the email correspondences between Blizzard and myself:To whomever it may concern,I am a transsexual individual who spends my relaxing time playing video games. . . one video game in particular, an mmorpg (massive multiplayer online roleplaying game) called World of Warcraft (http://worldofwarcraft.com). This is one of the largest selling online games of 2005. It's basically a virtual world where players interact with one another and play the game together. In this game, users can create "guilds" or groups for people with similar intersts to play the game together. There is an entire community of gay online gamers (a gaymer forum can be viewed here:http://gamers.experimentations.org/forums/index.php?), and many of us create glbt friendly guilds on the servers which we play. Here is an article written by In News Daily that I found about glbt friendly guilds: http://www.innewsweekly.com/innews/?class_code=Ga&article_code=941 As you can see, it is widely thought that the producers of this game (Blizzard) supports glbt friendly play environments. To my complete disbelief, I recently discovered that this is not true!!!Upon receiving a warning (from the game's GMs) that I had supposedly violated one of their Terms of Use by recruiting for my glbt friendly guild, I inquired further about the situation. Below is a copy of the emails that followed. I have contacted GLAAD and the writer of the In News Daily article, and am in the process of contacting the ACLU and other organizations and forms of the media. If I cannot take legal action, I would like for this story to be publicized at the very least! I am appalled that I was basically told that I bring hate upon myself with my advertising of a glbt friendly environment for players!!!Thank you in advance for your time and attention. Please feel free to contact me regarding this situation further at my email, PrismaticEcho@hotmail.com. Wow. I just can't believe how many people *still* have problems with things different from "the norm".
If you read the ToS, it says something like, "you must be at least 13 years of age" in there. Not exactly a small child who doesn't understand about sex yet. So it's okay for your child to go to public school and hear other kids say derogatory heterosexual terms, but it's not okay for them to go online and hear nonderogatory homosexual terms?
It's just wrong. You let an online video game babysit your teen (who is not a small child, because if they were still younger than 13, he/she/you is violating the ToS, so your point is moot regardless). Back to my point. You let an online video game babysit your teen, and try to shelter your "child" from seeing that not everyone is like mom and dad? And complain when someone says something that your "child" may or may not understand to be referring to same-sex relationships?
A lot of people are missing the point. I played WoW for a while. I joined quite a few guilds. I left quite a few guilds because of people saying "that's gay" when they die, get ganked, wipe in an instance, etc. Or, "joking" with guildmates, saying, "You're such a fag! lol". I even got kicked once, for telling a guild leader that he shouldn't say offensive things like that. I am *NOT* gay, but even I got offended by the idiocy and blatant homophobia the majority of people in WoW present.
The person recruiting did NOT say "WE'RE FAGS! WE'RE CARPET MUNCHERS! JOIN US!" They did NOT say anything offensive. They are just trying to get away from the WoW community that would not accept them, or would say offensive things around them. It's much easier to create a guild of people you don't mind being around, than to report every person who says "that's gay" in general/party/other guilds/shout.
I think posting a link to more indepth criteria for your guild in your recruiting statement would work well, and in fact much better then advertising sexual orientation in a chatchannel. Only those truly interested would take the time to look, and you'd be able to screen them better without all the perverted tells.
Please don't crusade this and understand you can still get what you seek by using an alternate means as stated above.

It is my honest belief that sexuality shouldn't even be an issue to begin with in this day and age, but obviously it is and read on for my view on the situation.
Thank you for contacting the Account Administration Department. We appreciate your interest in our in-game Harassment Policy. However, we have determined that advertising sexual orientation is not appropriate for the high fantasy setting of the World of Warcraft and is therefore not permitted.
Blizzard does not allow the advertising of sexual orientation. This means that you cannot solicit in a public chat channel something pertaining to heterosexuality or homosexuality. In no way is Blizzard preventing a person from being in or creating a gay-friendly guild. They are only preventing the players from [publicly] advertising sexuality (publicly because Blizzard differntiates between public and private chat channels in their various documents of conduct.)
Furthermore, this isn't that hard to get around- simply advertise an acceptable non-sexual guild recruitment message in a public channel. Upon receiving a message from a soon-to-be guild member, merely tell them in private that the guild is either gay oriented or gay friendly.
If one really must require discussing his or her sexuality and the life that goes with it, then a person can seek out a gay-only/friendly internet forum. I've never talken about my sexual/ romantic life in guild chat (nor do I intend to) and I rarely speak about my life. I play World of Warcraft for World of Warcraft and that is what my discussions are over- World of Warcraft. I agree with Blizzard in that sexuality has little place (though I don't mind it) in World of Warcraft, but if one must have it, then one can have it. However, at this point it's just a matter personal preference. "Beat the system" by simply doing what I stated in my previous paragraph .

Man you must be living in some America I don't know. Because I thought America was about doing what WE want to do, and not what those with power and priveledge tell us what to do.
Bartle predicts that WOW will end 2006 with less subscribers than it did in 2005. All I have to say is that if Blizzard keeps on allowing Christian fundamentalist preachers to recruit online into Christian fundamentalist guilds, and does not extend that priveledge to other guilds that only want to make it known that they are tolerant of those who are different, they WILL end up with less subscribers.
WOW has gotten too socially biased for my tastes and many other tastes, and there are plenty of other MMOs out there that aren't as blatantly biased.
Funny thing is man is that I'm not even gay. But just the thought of folks like you who play this game taking issue with something so obviously minor as this:
"OZ is recruiting all levels, but especially 50-60s! We are working on our Onyxia Chains and will be doing UBRS and hopefully Onyxia soon! We are not "glbt only", but we are "glbt friendly"! http://guilduniverse.com/oz"
SICKENS ME...And I'm straight and heterosexual. One might even call me a conservative. But if anybody thinks that this message is obscene enough to get all flustered about, then WoW attracts people I don't want to game with.

So we automatically assume that someone who is gay is a sex-crazed fiend, and can think of nothing else? No wonder there is so much fear surrounding gay gamers, and why gay gamers feel the need to protect themselves.
What is that old saying...Sticks and stones will break my bones, but contrary to the mental hurt, words in fact really don't hurt me.
Last time I checked, the perfect remedy to "protect yourself" from such words, are the ignore feature. Yes...It's quite handy.
Now whether they be a "sex crazed fiend" or not is not up in debate, and though the literal meaning of prurient would in laymens terms mean "a sex crazed friend", like many words, I did not take it in the literal meaning, and rather just used it in my riposte, because of it's origin in the thread.
You seem to have this notion that just because they have a different sort of sexuality, that all they do is talk about deviant and kinky sex, and act it out in the game? Grow up kid.
Ooo...Assumptions and the all too cliche attempt at an ad hominem, as well as a flamebait, bravo, you've now crossed over into the "unintelligent debate" section.
The only ones who seem to be "sex crazed" in this debate are the ones who say Blizzard had even a remote point in doing what they did.
Hrmm...Isn't that akin to saying "If you practice chastity, you're a whore"? Interesting theory, but I'd say it doesn't hold much water.
I don't see the ones from this guild talking about sex. If anything, they are talking about quests.
What guild? Last time I checked, I didn't even recognize any guild speaking about anything. What a vague statement...
If a group of women came together, and created a guild that was sympathetic to women, and their issues, would open recruiting of that guild constitute a "prurient interest" as well? They are stating they are sympathetic to the needs of women, which constitutes something of a sexual nature too.
If a group of women came together...saying they were sympathetic to women, and especially the "needs of women", which to you is speaking of the sexual nature of it...
Then yah...if the "needs of women" is an allusion to the sexual cravings of certain women, I'd say that's kind of explanatory being of a prurient interest.
Yet if a group of heterosexual women came here and said that Blizzard gave a sanction against their guild on the basis that since they claimed that they were open to hearing talk of a feminine nature, that they simply must be talking about male genitals, and sex toys? Get real. Maybe in some sick fantasies about what we think is going on there, its true. But only a sex-crazed, or "prurient" individual would ever assume that.
Every time a woman talks it is of a "feminine nature". You really need to sharpen these debating point; they're quite obtuse, pointless, and nonsensical.
This whole issue is about people getting offended that there are gays and lesbians who play World of Warcraft. Period.
Bravo...You're finally understanding half of the equation.
Apparently, you and many here believe its all well and good if we don't know they are there, but as soon as we start to talk about the need for player made institutions that make it a point to be tolerant of them, then all of the sudden, we are crossing the line into sexual deviance?
Many consider homosexual, sexual deviance. You create an organization or an institution favorable to such people, then logically you can deduct, sexual deviance.
I'm straight, but I call BS.
Good for you?
People in MMORPGs hate gays.
Maybe.
That's the heart of the matter, kid.
Ooo...With the flamebait again. Sly.
I didn't want to say it in quite that strong of language, but that's the reason Blizzard did what it did. Too many people hate gays, and are suspicious of those that have different sexual orientations to the point where Blizzard would rather placate the haters, than promote tolerance, and understanding.
They are promoting tolerance and understanding...Just to the opposite agenda to that which YOU serve.
I'm straight and heterosexual. But I'm not so ignorant to assume that anyone who is not straight and heterosexual is a pervert and a molester.
Because chances are kid,
Uh oh...3 in one post, my troll-o-meter is flashing.
if you were to listen in on what glbt's are talking about on Ventrillo, you wouldn't hear graphic depictions of barebacking, and that sort of thing.
You'd probably hear the same things you'd hear on any other voice server. Things like tanking MOBs, and pulling the right one.
Occasionally however, you might hear someone say, "I have to call it a night...does the side effects of AZT get better with time?"
And I think it is for that reason, that lgbt's want the ability to say, "our guild understands."
I don't think blizzard ever said they couldn't say, "Our guild understands." This is all just a political spin full of BS for you.
They said they don't want an institution that states the fact in general public, that they were created for the sole intent of recruiting GLBT's or those favorable to their cause.
My bull-o-meter is starting to flash too.

Haha...
1. WoW will end with less subscribers in 2006 than it did in 2005 because well...IT"S GETTING OLD. Not because it won't bow a knee to your beliefs. Games get older, subscribers drop. It isn't a abstract concept. Don't be asinine. The world, especially WoW, doesn't revolve around you and the progenitors of this "following".
2. They allow Christian guilds and not homosexual guilds for one reason...
One has an enviroment that they ascertain is good for the WoW world. The other is one they feel will cause disruption, conflict, and that they simply don't want it in their game.

If the people who didn't want to hear talk about Oz's toleration for gays and lesbians just did sqelch when the announcement was made, we wouldn't even be here. But they didn't, did they? They went like little children to Blizzard and said "wwwahhhhh......there are guilds that tolerate homos! Blizzard make them stop!," or something like that. Tell you what man, the next time guilds want to advertise fundamentalist guilds, I wouldn't be suprised if the same thing happened. Once it gets to the level its at now, there will be no end to the lobbying of Blizzard to play politics.
Ooo...Assumptions and the all too cliche attempt at an ad hominem, as well as a flamebait, bravo, you've now crossed over into the "unintelligent debate" section.
Hey man, the debate degenerated into flamewars before I even got here. Unfounded assumptions were thrown around before I even got here. Yeah its my fault to think I could talk on a rational level. But when something like "we are not glbt only, we are glbt friendly" is seen by many to be a violation of "play fair," standards then its beyond hope.
What guild? Last time I checked, I didn't even recognize any guild speaking about anything. What a vague statement...
Oz? Um...the guild whose message of gay toleration was the subject of this whole thread. What do you think we are talking about here? If a group of women came together...saying they were sympathetic to women, and especially the "needs of women", which to you is speaking of the sexual nature of it... Then yah...if the "needs of women" is an allusion to the sexual cravings of certain women, I'd say that's kind of explanatory being of a prurient interest. But its not, isn't it? Just as talk of a glbt nature is not necessarily any allusion to the sexual cravings of glbt people. Unlike what many who condem them, gays and lesbians are more than what they do in the bedroom. Yet the whole point is that people who don't tolerate assume that anything having to do with gays and lesbians has to do with sex. There are far more important and non-sexual things they discuss. Every time a woman talks it is of a "feminine nature". You really need to sharpen these debating point; they're quite obtuse, pointless, and nonsensical. I think its equally nonsensical to assume that all talk of a "gay nature" is talk about sex-deviant or otherwise. Bravo...You're finally understanding half of the equation. I never really had to spell it out. Some are intolerant of gays and lesbians. Like I said, they should use /ignore. The difference is though, that I don't think that Blizzard can best protect against gay hatred by subjecting gay gamers to "special rules," and catering to the needs of those who feel that mentioning "glbt friendliness" is a violation of community standards. Many consider homosexual, sexual deviance. You create an organization or an institution favorable to such people, then logically you can deduct, sexual deviance. Like you said then, people who feel offence should use /squelch or /ignore. But I don't think its ultimately good for online games to make "glbt friendliness" a term unable to be spoken. Now I and many others consider "family friendly" to mean "anti reproductive rights." But you don't see us sending harassment notices to Blizzard saying that guilds that promote "family friendliness" should have no right to do so on the grounds that talking about "reproductive choice" has no place. Good for you? No man. BAD for me. I thought that games were the one place where we could all "live and let live." Like you said though, there are too many people who want the game provider to censor what we can say, and how we can recruit. People in MMORPGs hate gays. Maybe. Take a look at the thread, man. They are promoting tolerance and understanding...Just to the opposite agenda to that which YOU serve. Dude I don't think its appropriate for any game to support any agenda except fun. But that ship has sailed, and its too late for Blizzard to go back as soon as they made "glbt friendly" tantamount to saying a dirty word. Since when is a guild recruitment notice that indicates they require tolerance of glbts supporting an "agenda?" I don't think that we are all going to start marching in gay pride parades when we hear about a guild's glbt tolerant policy.
I don't think blizzard ever said they couldn't say, "Our guild understands." This is all just a political spin full of BS for you. How would you rather they say it? Would you rather they say, "join us and not worry about referring to your battle with HIV?" Or, "join us and casually mention your harassment in school about who you are?" That would be questionable, and none too discreet. They said they don't want an institution that states the fact in general public, that they were created for the sole intent of recruiting GLBT's or those favorable to their cause. I think it has less to do with recruiting those who are favorable, and more to do with preventing those who are unfavorable from causing undue discomfort, and big lectures on topics that are frankly not part of the game at all. My bull-o-meter is starting to flash too. Why man? The gaming industry did what you wanted them to do.

They can make that choice. I don't think its smart. But they have caused much more disruption, as evidenced in here, by this strange and questionable policy against a harmless, easily dismissed caveat that would otherwise go unnoticed in any other game I have played.
Look man if you want to get on my case for my "kid" remarks, you have the right. But I don't think this thing is going to go away like many of us want it to. It's not a matter anymore of "stirring the pot." The pot has been stirred, so now what are we going to do?
I guess just log on and play. I can tell you this much though, I'm going to be a little bit more aware of what I play from now on. I didn't think things like this were much of a problem. Guess I was wrong.

Games and especially online games are not the place to advertise your sexual orientation. It goes the same with things like religion. If you can't live with that, don't play.

Why make a big deal of the fact that your guild is 'GLBT friendly'... as I said before it's implicitly implied that all guilds do not discriminate against homosexuals, they just don't feel the need to advertise this in their recruitment message any more than they feel the need to advertise that they allow blacks in join.
This thread is utterly ridiculous: some people are clearly just trying to stir up trouble, others are using it as a chance to jump on their moral high horses. The bottom line is: STFU, Blizzard were right, you were wrong. Go try and cause trouble elsewhere.

youre also COMPLETELY missing the point if someone was friendly to a black person joining how would u ever even know they were black? no one goes around saying insulting black terms to anyone but they say things like "gay" or "fag" so what you said has no true point and obviously u must be either ignorant, immature, or a child just from the grammar errors in your post.

Everyone will always lobby some "parent group" to play politics to their favor. But the lobbying won't succeed? You know why? You know why, because I've been saying the same bloody thing of why for the past 5 or so posts.
Now as for squelching the announcement. The announcement is only part of the reason. And you know this.
Hey man, the debate degenerated into flamewars before I even got here. Unfounded assumptions were thrown around before I even got here. Yeah its my fault to think I could talk on a rational level. Maturity isn't being rational when the argument is civil and friendly. It's being rational when it isn't.
Oz? Um...the guild whose message of gay toleration was the subject of this whole thread. What do you think we are talking about here?
I never saw any message other than a brief example of what happend. Excuse me.
But its not, isn't it?
What are you talking about? You said it was!
Just as talk of a glbt nature is not necessarily any allusion to the sexual cravings of glbt people.
lol. Correct me if I'm wrong. But if your labeled as a homosexual, doesn't that allude to the fact that you have "sexual cravings" towards members of the same sex?
Unlike what many who condem them, gays and lesbians are more than what they do in the bedroom.
Two stars for the most weird assumption of the day.
Yet the whole point is that people who don't tolerate assume that anything having to do with gays and lesbians has to do with sex. There are far more important and non-sexual things they discuss.
Again...It doesn't matter what they talk about. It's the organization. Simple as that.
I think its equally nonsensical to assume that all talk of a "gay nature" is talk about sex-deviant or otherwise.

Whoa...deja vu.
Like you said then, people who feel offence should use /squelch or /ignore.

Bloody hell. I feel like I'm just stuck in a time loop.
But I don't think its ultimately good for online games to make "glbt friendliness" a term unable to be spoken.
Don't be asinine. Your over-simplicity is hardly the heart of the mater.
Now I and many others consider "family friendly" to mean "anti reproductive rights."
Wait...wait. Your saying your view of "family friendly" is mandatory castration?
Sick...
But you don't see us sending harassment notices to Blizzard saying that guilds that promote "family friendliness" should have no right to do so on the grounds that talking about "reproductive choice" has no place.
What the hell are you blathering about?
You got me completely lost.
No man. BAD for me. I thought that games were the one place where we could all "live and let live." Like you said though, there are too many people who want the game provider to censor what we can say, and how we can recruit.
They have a EULA. So there is no live and let live.
Take a look at the thread, man.
Who says they hate them? That's like saying people who are against marital rights for homosexuals hate homosexuals, but yet there are even some, if few, homosexuals, who wish for marriage to be kept traditional.
You don't consider forwarding a "GLBT Tolerant Policy" is an agenda? You don't think people who tout "gay rights" is an agenda?
You can't have it both ways. You can't say "I don't think it's appropriate to support an agenda...Unless it's a homosexual friendly agenda".
They're supporting an agenda of an enviroment they deem suitable. Simple as that.
How would you rather they say it? Would you rather they say, "join us and not worry about referring to your battle with HIV?" Or, "join us and casually mention your harassment in school about who you are?" That would be questionable, and none too discreet.
Oh, and saying your friendly to discussions revolving around GLBT is discreet?
I think it has less to do with recruiting those who are favorable, and more to do with preventing those who are unfavorable from causing undue discomfort, and big lectures on topics that are frankly not part of the game at all.
Exactly...They don't want it apart of the game.
Why man? The gaming industry did what you wanted them to do.
I wouldn't say one company is "the gaming industry".

You do know that in the original Republic of America only landowners were allowed to vote? Landowners were usually what you called, "Gentry". And yes, they had the public good in mind. Which meant supporting the rights of private organizations to not bend to the will of the local, or federal government, because of the pressing of the bitching people.

Wrong...It's neither. Not a republic, nor a democracy. It's for the most part 50/50. And it's not limited at all, either.
And you can think if it's an acceptable practice or not all you want, trying to use your local government to strong will them into doing what you think is right, is wrong.
Maybe not, but I can say I won't be going there anytime soon. And apparently, others agree too.
5 people on a thread don't really equate to much economic loss.
They can make that choice. I don't think its smart. But they have caused much more disruption, as evidenced in here, by this strange and questionable policy against a harmless, easily dismissed caveat that would otherwise go unnoticed in any other game I have played.
We're MMORPG players on a message board. It's our natural reaction to cause a disruption because we all have an opinion, and we all voice it. Just because it happends on a message board in one of the many outlets of cyberspace, doesn't equate to much stopping power.

EEK!!! Sorry I even clicked this topic..... (too political) I had no idea what GLBT even stood for - never heard of it until today. But I can guess now (30-something old ex-WoW player). I learn something new every day
Blizzard is just looking out for themselves with this one. I'm sure some homophobe complained and Blizzard panicked and took the easy way out. GLBT players shouldn't be stopped from feeling proud about what they are.
That having been said, how would you feel about a Guild that proclaimed themselves to be "white only" and called themselves "White Power" or some such? That would certainly not be acceptable either, therefore I think a guild that chooses to include some and disclude others based on race, religion, creed or yes even sexual orientation is negative.
Did this crap actually just bleed over into my world of video games? Ack, just play the friggin' game people. When we're in game, we aren't us anymore anyway, we're a bunch of pixels trying to have fun. All this drama and stuff just isn't fun.
Lol im the fool eh?You are actually comparing blacks to gay people? Not even close my friend.Blacks for one are a race totally different for your so called sexual orientation. They were freakin hung from trees and murdered ALL the time till 50 years ago.
Americans want nothing to do with gays.Look at all the polls.

One name: Matthew Stewart. Look it up.
Are you actually comparing ONE gay guy geting killed to hundreds of years of brutal torture and slavery blacks endured by whitey? There is no comparison.Isnt it funny gays talk about tolerance but themselves dont tolerate anyone who thinks homosexuality is wrong and calls them Rednecks, prejudice, belong in a museum, etc.?Also I like how you bash Christians every chance you get.

They're providing you with a single example.
You can find examples of gay bashing and sexual-orientation motivated murders and discrimination with even a cursory search of a news archive.
There's also a matter of demographics. 12% of the US population is (currently) black (I couldn't find historical information in a hurry) but even the most 'optimistic' of estimates places the alternate sexuality number of people at 10% and many of those will not be 'outed'. This can account for quite a lot of the disparity in the numbers.
People talk about tolerance yes, but the thing they can't tolerate is intolerance. Christians get mixed up in that because, for a religion that touts a compassionate Christ, they can be awfully nasty. IMO it is a mistake to paint all Christians with the same brush as some are models of tolerance but from my PoV believing wholeheartedly in the big sky fairy is dangerous primitivism much like your intolerant attitude.
Creating a *blank* friendly atmosphere is not the same as promoting something. Are you afraid that they'll somehow reach through the screen and corrupt your children with 'gay cooties' or something?
There's no suggestion of active promotion there.
Two quotes for you...
"Your right to swing your fist ends at my nose." "I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."

The internet is not america, and I'm not part of "this country" And as far as the rest of the world is conserned, your view is the minority.
Currently playing:
* City of Heroes: Deggial, Assault Rifle/Devices Blaster.
Paks
YEEEEEEHAW!!!!!!!!
It is my honest belief that sexuality shouldn't even be an issue to begin with in this day and age, but obviously it is and read on for my view on the situation.
We are working on our
Onyxia Chains and will be doing UBRS and hopefully Onyxia soon! We are not
"glbt only", but we are "glbt friendly"! http://guilduniverse.com/oz"
SICKENS ME...And I'm straight and heterosexual. One might even call me a conservative. But if anybody thinks that this message is obscene enough to get all flustered about, then WoW attracts people I don't want to game with.

No...America partly was about allowing Private Organizations to retain their power, and not have to bend to the knee of the public.
The British Crown was the biggest private organization to ever exist on the Earth. Yet America was formed so we wouldn't have to "bend the knee" to the landed gentry, in favor of promoting the public good.
The world isn't a democracy. Voting process in America isn't even a true democracy. Get over yourself.
No its a republic, and a limited government. Pardon me though if I don't think this is an acceptable practice for those who mix politics and commerce in a way that helps neither.
Haha...
Maybe not, but I can say I won't be going there anytime soon. And apparently, others agree too.
2. They allow Christian guilds and not homosexual guilds for one reason...
One has an enviroment that they ascertain is good for the WoW world. The other is one they feel will cause disruption, conflict, and that they simply don't want it in their game.

Noone's claiming it's obsene as far as I can see... it's UNNECESSARY! The person who wrote that quote in the first place was pointing out how ridiculous it is... if I saw that in game I wouldn't feel disgusted, but I'd certainly be typing 'wtf?' straight into whatever chat channel it was spammed in.

"Fantasy" games seem to get more "real world" every day.

sigh...
EDIT: Guess i should have read all of the previous ones before posting heh...
Americans want nothing to do with gays.Look at all the polls.
I'll assume that you can read...because you're here, so here's some intresting reading for you.
Sexual prejudice then and now.
One day people like you will only be featured in a museum.
One name: Matthew Stewart. Look it up.
Americans want nothing to do with gays.Look at all the polls.
