**sigh** Ok, I can see very few are getting what I'm saying. Yeah I was ranting. Said so myself in the op. What I'm saying is buyer beware and make sure you look into it very closely first to make sure you know exactly what you're getting. Something that too many are not. To those saying But it is a building game. Yup. That's what its' supposed to be, even after the pve and pvp get added. That's what's promoted, that's what's in the game in the very early stages. However, just try saying that on their forums. And if you disagree with those saying it's really intended to be an adventure/danger/pvp game, I hope you like being lambasted and barbequed.
So all I'm saying is do some digging before you invest money. Read the "blueprint' by the devs on the forum and watch their live streams. They're most definitely catering to that crowd and no amount of pleading for clarification to stop the forum madness does any good. The griefing that's going on with people's claims is being completely ignored.
And to the guy who thinks this is a troll thread and should be reported.....thank you very much. If this is not the right place to give what I consider to be a warning to use your own heads, investigate, and make your own decisions based on all of the information and not just what's being promo'd on their main pages, then I guess I really am in the wrong place.
Can you point out in the blueprint where it says open world non-consent PVP because I can't find it? Landmark is first and foremost being designed as a building/exploration game I just don't see SOE allowing others to piss on peoples sandbox with things like destroyable claims and open world PVP. EQN might have some of those features in certain areas but not landmark.
I don't like where F2P is taking this game personally but I just don't see PVP in the cards.
Originally posted by Xree I am serious. If you're under the impression that Landmark, not Next, is a social building game like I did and like many others did who plopped down their money, then I recommend reading some of the more heated threads on their forum.. Or try posting that you think it's a building game. lol. They'll run you right out of there. Unfortunately for pve builder types, their posts are getting removed by moderators who I can only assume must share the shouting pvpers views, so a large number of those trying to defend their idea that they thought it was a building game arent' being seen and the pro pvp posts that are insulting and ridiculing people aren't removed. They've drawn a huge crowd of the social builder types true, but the devs or whoever decides things is basically turning their back on them in favor of the loudest shouters on the forums.
I am sorry, I am confused.
Are you saying that there IS PVP combat in EQ Next Landmark?
I don't care much either way but I'd like to know.
I do not know what the OP really talks about. But there has been A lot of PVP talk on the Landmark forums (especially in Alpha). And to summarize it There will at one point in time be consensual PVP in landmark, most likely tied to your claim this what the developers have said. The pro PvP people has (as always) been very belligerent and that may be what the OP talks about. Most PvP fans seems to have left Landmark already as the "mandatory" OW PVP setting is not going to happen.
Can anyone stop you or do anything else to cause you to not be able to build that isn't an exploit or glitch of some sort?
Has any PVE/PVP been added that is causing building to not be possible?
Do you HAVE to PVE/PVP to play the game or build in particular?
What have the devs said either on the forums or on video that says the game won't be centered around social building (building can be many things btw)? (Source)
Besides getting your feelings hurt on the forums, have other players had any direct impact on your game time or what it will be in the future that you know for sure, not assumption? Ex: They will be able to stomp on your flowers without permission.
Unless they stopped the offer, they were giving full refunds. If so, no one is stuck with the game or any of the "bait & switch" that you are talking about. As you seem to have more issue with the players then the devs/company, term doesn't really apply. No clue what has or hasn't been deleted from the forums (haven't been on them lately), but maybe you are just seeing it through your own very opinionated eyes and are missing something.
As a "PVPer" I have yet to see anything that gives me the idea that Landmark will have a large player conflict focus. Maybe some "PVP" Servers or Opt-In consensual PVP on claims, but nothing that makes me go "YES PVP 24/7!". I'm hoping EQN has some variety and am waiting patiently. As great as Landmark is, I'm not the builder type and the current lack of many of the systems to come (caves, combat, AI, mobs, etc) has me wanting.
Forums are full of dummies, welcome to the internet. If people are being over the top, report them. If mods are modding poorly, report them (however you can). So far, I haven't seen SOE bend the knee to the vocal minority (which PVPers are, at least in Landmark's case).
Danger, Adventure, and PVP are all very different ideas and I'm sure we all have our own view on them. All three can co-exist with building. Building can take one or all and create something even more then just what building can do alone. If you have issues with them adding in man-eating plants and other "dangers" I guess there is an issue. Maybe they need to change the wording on the promos or something, but the world is supposed to be alive. Not some blank soulless canvas. Should Orcs roll through your claim and burn it to the ground, probably not, but so far haven't seen that planned.
From my end, Landmark (like EQN) is supposed to have an element of "Adventure" to it with players traveling around and exploring, maybe coming in contact with some "Dangers" and what not. PVP should be totally optional. If you want an empty canvas without any "game", maybe you were baited, but if you watch all the vids and read everything there is (as you suggest), it shouldn't be too shocking to know that they want to make a world for players to explore, adventure, build, and create in. Not simply an empty void.
This guy is obviously just butt hurt about an argument or something that happened to him on the forums. He barely even talks about the actual game itself, he's too busy ranting about the forum community.
After reading the OP post multiple time and also his extra post to clarify it further, i see that he did not say we where wrong. He his just stating that yes it is a building game and yes it will have pve and pvp content further down the line but some people on the SOE forums are under the impression this was going to be a mmorpg and not the building game itself.
On the other side of thing i think they could also be under the impression that it was going to be both a building game and a full blown mmorpg. So i think the OP frustration is the fact the he his trying to advise those forum posters on the SOE forum that this game is not the EQN client version they expect but the Landmark version ( the building tool ) and it cause a serious issue over there when you post that information because the early adopters have not understood correctly the information given to them by the devs..
edit : yes i know the building tool ( landmark ) will be in some way included inside the EQN version but need to be clarified that it is still 2 different version. EQN ( the mmorpg ) and Landmark the ( building tool ) and also Landmark can be use to add content to EQN but that is another topic.
The game is in beta, hence they can change anything at anytime.
If you paid to join the alpha/beta, your alpha/beta testing, nothing more.
You have no rights here, if you had purchased the finished release product and it was intentionally misleading, fine. Aliens Colonial Marines is an example of bait and switch, but Landmark is not.
This being said i think this thread is valuable information for some players under the impression they are buying a finished product...no, it will be F2P afterall.
Expresso gave me a Hearthstone beta key.....I'm so happy
