Oh look..... more nerfs to control gold production to make buying gems more attractive....
The crown pavillion opened up today for the festival of the four winds update. We had the four winds last year and it was fun....the crown pavillion as well was around the same time and it was a very good way to make money (high concentration of mobs and they all dropped loot). Oh but not this year.....
Now you have to pay gold to get the events/spawns activated faster and mobs dont drop loot this year.... I kinda feel sad for anyone working for their legendary now, its hard as hell I hear to save up the mats. And the people are obviously pissed off....... just read some of the post on the forms... "gem store 2" "5-7 gold an hour?" "precursor rage" "GOLD KILL".
People are starting to notice what I have been saying all along for the past year or less. Anets gem store/economy tactics are getting bolder all the time. I was going to log in seeing how the festival of the four winds was kinda entertaining last year....but now im saddended by this news.
My friend was talking about people like you yesterday, ie: people who were complaining because you can't just log in to run around in a circle and hit a few AOE's and just collect bags in the Pavillion. This is what ANet is trying to fix and they are NOT aiming to please people like you.
You're damn right "not this year", and hopefully never again.
What you don't understand is that it's not supposed to be "easy" and it never was, I don't know where you understood, especially now (the timing is pivotal here) when your Legendaries are account-wide, that it would be EASIER to obtain them. There's even a guide on this very site to make your Legendary crafting a bit more relaxed even if it takes a while longer. But you're not relaxed, you seem to want everything handed to you.
Everything is almost exactly as it was last year only now you can't just mindlessly grind all the bosses. Besides that, you're missing the other side of the story - people who complain that the game is not hard enough, to which ANet responded and people like you are disappointed by that response.
Did you play GW1? If you did, you should know that ANet has always played hardball. If people want something titled "Legendary" let them work for it or let them go play something else.
EDIT: By the way, I also represent the players that are extremely happy that ANet nerfed the champs in starting zones so lowbies don't have to watch geared 80's run in circles collecting bags. Or was that a bad decision too?
While you are right Anet always goes from one extreme to another. Last year it was a lootfest with way too much gold generated out of nothing. This year it feels totally useless to go there once you are done with achievents.
Lowering loot is one thing, removing it complitely is another..
Coordinated group, 5 minutes of work 8 champ lootbags.
They removed loot? No, you actually have to do something for it lol
I dont know if you noticed all the people complaining its just a zergfest....well this is for them Not too hard, but zerging will yield you pretty much squat.

Exactly this. People verbally attacked ANet for over a year for everything being a zergfest. You know what happened when they introduced the absolute NEED for more coordination in fights like Pavilion and Tequatl?
OP happened. Other people are actually loving this.
As for the gem store thing and how they're trying to lower gold gains, I have actually spent more money in the past few months on the gem store than I did last year, and none of it was for anything even remotely related to acquiring a Legendary or purchasing materials. So whatever.

What? Well once I complete all achievements possible in a Living Story event, I kind of stop going there anyway. Why wouldn't I? It's called Living Story, not Looting Story.
With that said, most of the people in my guild played gw1 for a number of years. So we all got together and re-downloaded the game. Played it for a few hours, and went right back to GW2 that same day.

GEM STORE mechanics... dont not make for harder gameplay.....
Yes your point was that we're all doomed to buying gems because one temporary event changed and doesn't allow you to mindlessly gather loot for a week/month. And it's a terrible point. I'm pretty sure I addressed that.
Oh and by the way, harder gameplay makes for harder gameplay, which is exactly why they changed the Pavilion, unless you have more than conjecture and rage on your side.
By the way.. DOOMED. For those who didn't catch it.
If you notice, I also addressed your spurious claims in another post on the same page.
PS: If Gem store mechanics don't not make for harder gameplay, does that mean they do?
F2P with cash shop, B2P with cash shop, same cancer on the game industry. You cant afford everything the game has to offer so just give us as much as you can................
Only honest developers give the whole game away for a fixed price every month, its called a sub.

It's called a scam. If I don't keep paying, the product I purchased for full price becomes a coaster. By definition they're not giving away the whole game if you have to keep buying it every month.
Your statement and any like them have never made sense and never will. The difference between GW2 and WoW for example is that you don't need to pay to keep playing and remaining competitive. With a sub, you can't do ANYTHING unless you do.
Oh and I'd like to point out that sub games now have cash shops including things you can't get in the game. So yeah. Done and done.
I am SO glad they shut down the champ trains. To be completely honest, it's not because of the loot or anything, but simply because of the people that took part in the train. I couldn't stand them. Those people made me want to quit the game entirely, and if there was another game that seemed even remotely interesting, I may very well have left. They were nothing more than a bunch of whiny complainers that felt everybody else was supposed to cater to their needs. Champ farming was a blight on the game, and I raise my glass to Anet for starting to destroy it.
And for those people that are complaining because there is cosmetic goods for sale in the gem store, grow up. Are you no better than a spoiled child complaining to their mother because the other kids have nicer shoes? Anet, as with ANY developer, has the right to try and earn money by selling whatever the hell they want. If you don't like it, don't buy it.
All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.
I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.
I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.
The new Pavillion is extremely rewarding. Assuming you have competent people working together.
Just keep that in mind when you see the complaints. The complaining people are generally incompetent people who can't figure out how to do anything past zerg.
I just got a whole lot of champ bags in a very brief period of time, because people did the content the way it's supposed to be done, repeatedly.

If anet had not nerfed world loot drops none of this would have ever happened. Anet nerfs everything players need to advance their crafting, build a legendary, etc. As a result prices for everything soar. So people train around killing champs to get junk they can either sell or throw into the forge.
And here you are in your own reality trying to blame the players. Anet is at fault for all of this.

unless, of course, you already did all of this content the FIRST time it came around. Nothing new here - recycled content pretending to be new. In fact anet has not released anything worth doing since the LS finale. Now they expect we'll all happily lap down recycled content that was not all that fun the first time (seriously - do the same thing dozens of times to get enough of A or to win enough of B to get the cookie ... from a company that took a dump on any game using these tactics and sold us on the idea they were different). Yawn. Gw2 has become one un-fun snooze fest with all loot drops nerfed to the ground ... but hey, come look at the gem store and spend $ for the new shiny...

Saying that the zerg bosses in the crown pavilion play the same as they did before is simply not true.
Also, people kept complaining that the content is not permanent, but then if the content returns "boooooring, same old same old, give new fresh content".
Currently playing: GW2 Going cardboard starter kit: Ticket to ride, Pandemic, Carcassonne, Dominion, 7 Wonders
This is the problem with the micro transaction business models - unpredictability and we are years away from shaping the culture to one that does not accept micro transactions and the unpredictability that comes along with it.
That is not a problem with just the micro transaction business model. It is a general 'problem' (if you want to see it like that) with the MMO business model. Along the life of any MMO there will be big changes that make people stop playing that game. This is regardless of business model.
I am not defending GW2 here btw, I also have my issues with certain design choices. I am just getting tired of people always pointing at the business model. Any change in a MMO can make invested time become useless. Like some who collected same stat sets to apply different skins to them. Although they are still usefull to have with this system.
Arenanet has a lot of options to chose from if it comes to nickle and diming players. Something that also happens in (former) sub based MMO's btw. They just made collecting skins/dyes easier from a gameplay point of view. The change from stones to charges just makes managing this currency easier. Same goes for making dyes account wide. Again, from a gameplay point of view. They actually made some room in your storage this way.
But applying skin to your gear is still the bit they want to charge you for. They also still hope you will buy dye packs in the store. So looking from a business model perspective nothing has changed at all. So you can hardly call this unpredictable because of the business model they use.
There are only a few MMO's out there that offer a lot of customization with ingame character wardrobes without a lot of hassle. Also F2P ones btw, just look at some of the superhero MMO's.

I explained the basics of economics to a five year old and he picked it up, so I'll try to explain it to you as well. Non-essential goods become more expensive because people can afford to pay more, and less expensive when people can't afford to pay as much. It's called supply and demand. So if the prices of everything soar (as you put it) then it's because there is a surplus, not a shortage (like you claim Anet has imposed by nerfing all the drops)
Thanks for sharing your input though. Everyone is allowed to post, even if they might not understand some concepts. If you need, I can refer you to some free "understanding supply and demand" online courses and I will be glad to try and help you further if you need. Cheers!

I'm starting to doubt you've even played the game if you don't understand eyelolled's point. The fact of the matter, involving trains, is that ANet only nerfed champions in starter areas. You like to blame ANet, but it's the fault of players who farmed these trains that things got nerfed for one simple reason: they were helping to introduce new players to the game by running in circles collecting garbage, and therein lies the second point and reason I wonder if you've played the game at all.
The trains that 80's could have been doing (and I saw far more people wearing exotics than I ever saw "newbs" farming trains in Queensdale) like Frostgorge for example, were left pretty much unused and unplayed for months because it was easier to kill the Queensdale champs. Now people do them because of the Megaserver and the fact that they can't do them in Queensdale.
Again, the QD champs didn't give you anything decent most of the time. But 80's still trolled the area and ruined the entire experience for people who wanted to explore and maybe fight these champs with players their own level, and since the nerfing, 80's are where they should be and consequently earning MORE for being there.
ANet is not at fault for lazy players trying to take advantage of trains that gave them no actual advantage. And in-game very few people complained because:
A: They knew it was the right thing to do and would happen eventually.
B: They know that after the nerf, they'll be more compelled to do high level trains which will give them better loot.
In summary, there was no "loot nerf", there was an adjustment that had to be made because of the players themselves. If you really want to blame ANet and are prepared to stretch your complaint til it practically snaps, you could ask them why they had so many champs in a starting area to begin with and why they thought this wouldn't happen? I'm sure they'd be happy to hear your objective point of view.

I don't think the person you're replying to plays the game. They may have at one point, but their lack of information on the return of the pavilion as well as the champ trains makes me wonder how long it's actually been.
But that's a great point. No one is ever happy. You have a B2P structure that allows you to farm instead of spending real cash beyond the box price, which so many people wanted - yet now ANet is a bad dev for allowing this. They grant more access to previously temporary content and have even left some of it in the game permanently and they're also bad devs. I personally don't care what people like this have to say.
To say the content is recycled though is amusing, since this very thread was started by a guy who is complaining how different it is than the first time.
guild has no benefit other than guild missions which is one hour a week, yes that is true in a game called guild of wars you basically do not need guild. maybe if you are in guild that does teq or tri wurm you get to do those stuff as well but both of them give reward on daily base, and that is all you do with your guild mates rest are optional.
do i need my guild mates to do dungeon with them? no its completely optional, you buy gem and convert it to gold and buy dungeon paths you get all achievements and token and exp to make your toon to 80 and give it full exotic gear. what? yes that is true no actual MULTI PLAYER elements here. you can solo or skip dungeons all together yet you get achievement and token etc for basically not doing them . lol
what about end game?? grind for gold, best way to make gold, well they nerfed the ways you can get gold by playing the game like world bosses basically nerfed or events and activities are not rewarding enough. so what is best way? TRADING POST you can learn how to play TP with some you tube videos. TP has no regulation or become dungeon seller. yes the odd ways will get you all legendary weapons and to hell with playing the game itself as MULTI PLAYER game with your guild.

That's more than I ever needed a guild for in WoW, so what's your point? What percentage of MMO's have a wide variety of things for guilds to do with one another? Why is GW2's guild camaraderie more "optional"?
PS: The game is not named after a feature in the game, it's based on the lore. For the thousandth time.
The guild I was just in but left because it was not on my server, hence less reasons to belong to it, did dungeons together, all day every day. Do you think it shouldn't be "optional"? Maybe mandatory missions that you can only complete with a guild? I don't think so.

you did not need guild for raiding? yes you can raid through raid finder but i suggest you to find guild and make some friends it is way more fun. try it then you will see benefits of guild.
it is optional because you can do it with guild mates or through LFG or completely buy your way to dungeon master title and tokens etc. can it get more options than that i dont know but it is quite option full in my opinion. by the way after last patch you can get guild missions reward by just simply doing it along with them and no need to even be member. that is option full come on.
you know i thought i know a lot about lore and story of both gw1 and 2 by being active on lore forum, well my bad would you explain about lore part you mentioned? guild of elder dragons vs guild of other races or guild of humans against guild of charrs or murssat ?? ok i need your help on this one. or maybe they should inform people on miss leading name before selling the game to them??
I don't see this as greed, so much as necessity. They do have a rather big development team and no doubt box purchases have slowed down. They need to try and maintain some reliable source of income. It's just the way the world works.
This is why a lot of people prefer subscriptions. Personally, I don't mind either.

Currently playing: GW2
Going cardboard starter kit: Ticket to ride, Pandemic, Carcassonne, Dominion, 7 Wonders

TP has no regulation or become dungeon seller. yes the odd ways will get you all legendary weapons and to hell with playing the game itself as MULTI PLAYER game with your guild.
welcome to guild of wars 2
