In my opinion since you cannot click on a name and heal the person you have to aim and heal while dodging these. It is not as easy as watching the video because you are standing there facing these damage telegraphs while trying to aim and heal a group mate.
or to move out while a party member may be dying to heal them when they are quite far from your very small aoe heal. Don't get them in your green cone and they are dead.
It is more than the usual F2,F3,F4 (for each group member) press heal gameplay current MMORPGs have. It is in my opinion harder than WoW or SWTOR, EQ 2 or other stand at the back and heal MMOs as you have to aim the heals.
I am sure some of you are very good at moving about but to try to tank or heal while dodging these telegraphs is for me at least quite challenging. May be not for you FPS and real quick with reflexes types who can whack 30 people with 50 whacks. The first one is a level 20 dungeon called Ruins of Kel Voreth and it is like a spray of balls that change trajectory so you have to watch them like a mean game of Tetris while trying to aim and heal a group member. I would like to see how well an average MMORPGamer plays this game. Not you experienced super agile ones but those who normally play tab target whack a mole gameplay.
I get that you consider this cheap and unsatisfactory gameplay but I doubt the average MMORPGamer is going to be that optimistic at their survival skills in the face of these odds. Of course if you are looking at it from the point of view of a DPS character who has only themselves to worry about it looks super easy. Also when you solo you only have to worry about getting yourself out of the telegraphs but in a dungeon your responsibility to your group members makes the job of healing and tanking while dodging challenging.
How I personally feel about them is that I am unused to this cacophony of input but I am going to try and play the game before I assume it is going to be bad. You can turn it off so those of you who do not want this overload of colours can safely play without them.
When I first saw videos of Wildstar I laughed out loud at the telegraphs. I thought it was the cheesiest feature ever for a developer to use 'visual hitboxes' as something mind blowing and new to games.
I then got to play the game during beta and realized you can just turn them off, so I did. I played for a while without a problem, and it was still challenging - everything in the game is very animated. The animations of anything that may danger you have great indicators of what they intend to do.
Then I decided to actually try playing the game with the telegraphs on - and while they were distracting from immersion at first - they began to add more of a complex gameplay factor.
Honestly, I will probably be play with them both on and off at times depending on how I feel - and I appreciate that it is an option.
All it really is, is the developers trying to find a way to project other senses though vision. Obviously, if the ground was rumbling below you because spikes were going to come up in real life, you will feel it. On the screen, how do you feel it?
I am pretty indifferent about them.

Anyone who says the telegraph system makes the game too easy obviously hasn't been following the game at all. It's been made pretty clear that the game is meant for people who like a challenge.
Also.. you can turn the telegraphs off. Wow... /thread.
I thought this as well. I thought the telegraphs would make the game EZ mode until I actually played it and was surprised.
I do appreciate the option to be able to turn them off though.

Well, yeah, but then they would have to admit that the telegraph system has actual merit and that their prejudicial statements like "dont stand in the red areas = win hur hur" are entirely ignorant.
But, then they probably also think the telegraph system doesnt evolve past level 10.
Without telegraphs, the game is WOW with better combat and character customization.
So, yes, I like the Telegraphs. More specifically, I like the different shapes, configurations, movement, and size of them. Much better than the "it is going to attack you from the front" that we're so used to.
Just to be fair, while there isn't "telegraphs" like this in WOW. Mobs do telegraph their moves via a slight change in their stance or combat animation, or some sort of vocal or text alert.

Not at all,it really takes this genre down another notch.
First of all we have ruined NPC's by just hovering yellow markers over their heads,so that it is more like we are chasing around markers rather than living in a role playing world. Now we have a telegraph system that has players watching the red carpet and not the game or it's surroundings.
In the old days playing FFXi,you or the tank or puller heck everyone had to constantly watch for spawns and aggro/links now everything is dumb down into an instance and/or no worries about any other links and even if there was some they would most likely be easy solo mobs.
watching markers on the ground is not a skill,it is simply opening your eyes and moving,it has no comparison to the old school days of learning your foes, their range and what not to do.Now even the holding back idea has been lost, just spam away and in many new games don't even worry about healing, everyone can do it.
Point is that this red carpet system is just another gimmick to make gaming less skillful and less eyes on where the yshoudl be the surroundings.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Yeah, I guess that would take research and work. Too hard for some these days I suppose....
Using telegraphs for certain key boss abilities I's be fine with, but when you make your entire system based on telegraph I have problems with. Too much is it that you just watching for the red zone without ever really taking in the enviroment and people complain about hand holding, yet they praise WS like its the 2nd coming which if overuse of telegraph isn't hand holding then I don't know what is.
The telegraph system was a pretty big turn off for me as I don't like how the combat system evolved around the overuse of telegraphs.

And others don't have a clue that people don't care that it gets harder but of the concept of overuse of telegraphs itself and basing you combat around it.

Well, yes I do. See, if the post wasn't about you, don't respond to it.
Because I was talking about a lot of false statements. You are talking something completely different that I did not even mention.
So sensitive. Lol. And most combat in games is based around some sort of memorization. How is this different? Otherwise, I don't really care about your opinion on the matter as that is not what my post addressed. Thanks.

All fights are based around telegraphs, in real life when someone drops their shoulder before they punch you? That's a telegraph.
You are upset they made them colored lights on the ground, we get it.
However, the way you, and others like you, go about complaining about this dead-horse issue, is just silly, and really detracts from your primary complaint, which is you don't like how the telegraphs were implemented in this game.
The way most people want this game to function (with extremely minimal indication of telegraph) would simply NOT WORK on a large scale multi-player game.
this game is really cool and very challenging. the telegraph system is awesome imo and i bet you will see it used more and more in games in the future. i really see no reason for not liking it besides ur a baddie so yea thumbs up from me.
