Surprise! Another hype piece brought to you by MMORPG.COM.
I like the game too, guys; but, seriously, addon downloads?! Don't mention that the number one spot is held by BijiPlates--a worthy addon is its own right but hugely bolstered in downloads by a bug in Carbine's base game ui that has rendered nameplates at best wonky but often altogether unavailable. Unfortunately Bijiplates hasn't actually solved the issue (related to occlusion) but that hasn't stopped many of us from desperately trying many possible workarounds, with none actually overcoming the bug that has existed long ago in beta (at least 5 months ago by my calculations, having been in closed beta).
Give us some skepticism, MMORPG.COM; some journalistic integrity. Leave the hype to publisher/developer marketing and fans (of the non-journalist type, if that wasn't clear enough).
Great post. I'm personally sat at level 20 after last night. Myself and friends/guildies have been just enjoying ourselves thoroughly with exploration, housing, messing about, all sorts. There's no hurry, just enjoying the journey. I have, also, lost a lot of time to framerate issues caused by nameplate-based memory leaks but seems turning those off more or less fixes that so hey ho.
Glad I gave this game a chance because now I don't want to leave!
Lets see, Assuming each player downloaded 4 addons, then 550k people would be using those 2.2 million total addon downloads. I think that addon users usually download more than 4 addons so the number of players downloading 2.2 million addons would be lower. Not counting the ones who probably deleted the addon if they didnt like it (which im sure they are counting those as downlaods too)
In case the purpose of the dev's comment on the amount of addons downlaoded is to show how many people are playing then i doubt thats any indication of it. But it if its, then thats pretty low for a launch game.
Most players don't use addons, particularly this early on with the instability of them and the frequent changes to the actual game client.
Assuming every player is using 4 addons is pretty extreme.
The majority of us who dont like the game, we dont like it not because the game is bad, it is because the cartoonish style and the constant shouts of "double kill", "triple kill" are fine and nice for a few minutes but after that you want to scream "SHUT THE HECK UP ANNOYING TROLL".
The game is good I like the incentive in challenging but I couldnt pass the graphics and the annoying voices.
The reason you want and can see the difference between 30 fps and 60 is the synchronizing between you and the screen. At 30fps unless you are 100% and don't blink you see the flicker every time a frame is out of sync with you. At 120 fps you cant actuall see every frame but you never hit a point where you're out of sync with what you're viewing.
I am personally LOVING Wildstar, its hard, its fun, I actually liked Elder Scrolls Online, but Wildstar has better group features and the most difficult raiding in the MMO world!
