New Game

Not to be the stupid n00b here...

But I just came from the world of MUDs, and I had a very good time there. Is it just me, or are there no decent realistic MMORPGs out there? They all seem to follow the same kind of ideas.

1. Groups accomplish things.

2. PK is generally restricted the same ways.

Etc., etc.

I just got off Avalon. I'm hard to impress. So impress meimage

Blah even more...................

    What are saying exactly?

Realism in games isn't always a good thing.

1 is always true. 2 look over the list of MMO's they vary from no PvP to unrestricted

As Doc, the producer for WWII Online says "We pwn PVP". It also does not get more realistic, however, groups are usually better then a single person. Also you seem to be a bit older then a 10 year old 'ILL PWN YOU WITH MY UBER EQUIP" type guy and the adverage WWII Online player is 29.

Full out PvP has been the dream of many but it always turns ugly.Problem is it became a easy router for the lazy to get cash/loot.

And trust me as UO found out the lazy and arrogant are many.It became a crisis in UO when most new players in 1999 were not staying after the free month.

Some say EQ launch did this but as the UO trammel proved it was not only that. They went from 100k subscribers in 1999 to near 200k in 2002.

I still believe DAoC did it best.Fight for a cause not for money.

Realism in a MMORPG?   I'd say if you like realistic, its WWII online, buuuuuuuuuut im think'n your a fantasy player seeing as your from the world of muds so I'd suggest Asherons Call 1(or 2, but i think 1 is better)/DAOC/SWG.  Donno, I like the fact that pvp in all those games are faction/dual related.   Not just some smoe who wants your uber helm of poo'n.

Your right, most of the MMO's out there aren't realistic they just follow the EQ format with their supposed twists. For realism it will depend if you mean appearance, stat increases, fighting or just all round gameplay, but if I were to suggest a game thats out right now, I'd suggest DAoC. It has alot going for it. I don't care for the art myself, but the gameplay can keep you interested longer than most out there. SWG is for Star Wars geeks and Fashion Police, its far to dressup for my tastes. If you want cartoon fun I'm waiting for Worlds of Warcraft. Also one I'm sort of interested in hearing more about is Ninth Domain, even though theres not much out about it, it sounds good. Plus I don't know when its coming out.

     My two cents
