Which MMORPG Should I Play?

Hi Everyone, I'm new to the forums, and have a question.

I played Everquest a couple years ago, but eventually quit.  After thinking about it for awhile, I have decided to rejoin the MMORPG world.  My trouble is deciding which MMORPG to choose, I have now narrowed it down to SWG and EQ.

Since I have played EQ, I pretty much know what it is about, and I followed SWG through the development process for over a year, but was gone for the summer and missed it's launch.  I know SWG has gotten reviews saying that it has alot of potential but that there was alot of content missing in the game and many balancing issues.  Since it is several months after launch, I am now wondering how close SWG is to being what it promised before launch.  Looking into it, it seems that Player Cities and Mounts have been integrated into the game recently.

You should know that I am a roleplayer, and would possibly be crafting in the game.  How is the economy in SWG?

I would appreciate it if anyone could give me input on which MMORPG to choose.

Thanks.

Spamming, donno, everyone is diffrent and always need advice on getting into a new game.

If you are into crafting swg has the best system.
The economy in swg is completely player driven, so you have to find a good crafter to get the good items.

Other then that, seen a few people going ga ga over FFXI but i personaly havent played it much.  But I hear the crafting and econ is ok over there.

For economy based games and crafting SWG is a good game.It lacks content  but they have started keeping it in.Like the player run cities and mounts are ingame now.

Also jedis padawans have  started to appear but honestly if you a roleplayer like me you would probably find this a backwards step as there is no jedis(but yoda) alive at this time period they set up.Luke is even in training.

The economy is player driven so crafting is very useful nd fun. They did listen to the whiners and put in super uber rare weapon drops but they started to withdraw this idea so thats a very good thing.

Now there are loads of crafter professions to choose from like weaponsmith, armorsmith, chef, droid engineer ,artitect, tailor.

All are profitable with the highest earners been weaponsmiths and maybe lowest been tailor.

Howwever i keep away from weaponsmith as there are loads of them and since weaponsmith is all about resources which change every week you probably be way behind if you try it now.Rest are pretty much level.

Oh and resources are collected by harvestors and every week there are new resources so its a very cool feature.

Originally they had miners that could mine faster(anyone can do it though) but for some weird reason they removed them in beta.

Strange since many people in game only mine resources and resell it anyhow.

SWG, for me is extremely flawed in the gameplay; skill based gaming style. The HAM bars over complicate thngs in a great majority of ways, and if this didn't bother you you might want to try look at the game again. However, SWG has too much downtime and the time element in leveling your skills for one measely skill that isn't as good as the first one you recieved, which took you about 175k + exp; this is ridiculous. They should have spaced the skills closer and made more of them so an individual could see their character really grow. SWG in the end reminds me of women in general: The first ten minutes they are great, a beautifull angel which you will do anything for, but after a day you want to get as far away from her as humanly possible.

Bottom Line: Wait for WoW, Blizzard has shown time and time again that they go the extra distance to reach that plateau of excellence that other companies do not want to or can't reach.

If you liked EQ then I think you would enjoy FFO.  I played EQ for 4 years and it was my favorite.  Many of its best qualities are in FFO and only a few of its negatives.

I havent really gotten into the crafting piece myself but it seems like its fairly varied.

While this is very true, WoW isn't close to being done. I would predict 1st or 2nd quarter of 2005. There is plenty of time to pick up numerous games and get burnt out on them before WoW is in the stores.
