By now you’ve read our news article about the closed beta for ArcheAge launching next week on July 17th for four days. Fear not! It’s just the first of several upcoming closed beta events before the game goes live later this year. To clarify this information and much more, we chatted with Trion Worlds’ CEO Scott Hartsman earlier today.

1.2's changes are welcome...haha yeah right dude. Bug fixes, class "balancing" are all fine and good but labor changes, flying debuff over ocean, mat changes to crafting and of course the ever present argument over the gilda changes are not welcome in the least.
The forced item shop for labor potions and introduced 55 content without lvl 55 is a joke. Losing a lot of respect for this game that I used to have. Instantly went from most anticipated to most regretted paying in a weeks time.
I have a life, its just different from yours.....
Mid and end-game crafting requires you to deliver trade-packs to the hostile lands which usually ends up in PVP because people want to steal your packs and turn them in themselves. So it is best to bring friends or be very sneaky.
Its closed beta

Please don't tell lies... Those tradepacks need to be delivered to the other continent. It's never said you MUST use a pack form YOUR continent and go to the ENEMY one. I have been doing traderuns the other way around and make the tradepack on the ENEMY continent (pretty safe I have to say!) and bring it back to MY OWN continent to trade it in. Though not 100% safe, it's close to 100% safe, much like donkey-sub used to be to Sanddeep before the 1.2 patch
Don't let the usual hysterical interweb posters scare anyone. The patch changes ARE welcome to anyone that cares about the long term health of the game.
There isn't any content behind a pay wall ... that's just a bizarre statement.
The glider turbulence (which is only over the ocean) was needed because glider gank squads were making ship to ship combat non-existent. It didn't matter if you had a warship or a rowboat, just if there were more people on gliders than on your ship.
Material recipe changes to crafting recipes ... umm, yep that's it. The horror.
Level 55 content introduced without moving the level cap to 55. Again, its just an inconvenience. The semi-valid part of the complaint is that this rearranged some skill trees so people can't make their uber build until the cap is raised. If the 55 level content in the 1.2 patch was not included then people would be complaining about that, too. Its not like level 55 mobs are running amok through the newbie zones.
Gilda changes, these took away gilda from safe runs within your own faction's continent. You have to play the game and trade packs overseas to get gilda rewards now. They also added guaranteed gilda rewards to the daily quests, so you can do those if you want to stay safe. This was needed because the Korean economy was wrecked by the easy/safe initial release version of trading. We also haven't seen the adjustment patch by Trion for this.
Labor changes, essentially more things take labor now. People in alpha were used to a certain way of playing. It doesn't exist anymore. Instead of adjusting their gameplay some are complaining, which is normal for any mmo. Labor regenerates, no one is forced to purchase a labor potion.
Only content behind the payment wall is that you can't own land as free player (or pay tax for land, not sure which one is fact). Aside from that, you can do everything you want in the game.
Oh yeah, an other significant difference between paying player and free player is the labor point regeneration, but if you're in for the PvP, you prolly don't care too much about that
to be fair, a free player is able to play the game without any penalty to PVE and PVP contents. They're only unable to purchase houses, and their labour points regenerate slower, but this wont affect a casual gamer who doesnt really care much about crafting.
So if u wanna own lands or wanna be a hardcore crafter, u pay a sub. But for the players who wishes to focus on the combat side of the game, u will not be at any disadvantage at all. Archeage is still very much enjoyable for free 2 play gamers.
Besides, u still can buy APEX using in game currency, so even free players can be patrons without spending a cent.
Finaly an mmo worth investing my time in.
And with a subscription
Cant wait for its release !
Then Destiny will just have to cope with the competition, oh wait, Destiny is a console only game, but seriously, would it even matter if it was on PC anyway, even Titanfall barely managed to gain any interest and now its barely a memory, of course if this was the launch of The Division, that might actually gain interest
Huh?
I will prob play the destiny beta, but I also wanna play the archeage beta last time I played archeaege was on kr :P
So yeh, to bad the beta starts at the same date ( dont got enough time,
yea, and it's only their 3rd beta now! gotta keep in mind they already failed in asia AND russland. why not try it another time in the west. and then they ripped off everyone

One personal issue I have is not thinking out of the box enough with these games, never occurred to me to do trade runs in reverse like, this, and I must say, what an excellent idea.
I haven't been playing the alpha for a few weeks because there wasn't much more I wanted to learn prior to launch, but this is something I'll be logging back in and trying.
Question, do you include stealth in your build to pull this off, or do you stay in the open?
Thanks for sharing this.

Apparently you're clueless on how important owning land plays into the game.
Smile
I know how important land is in the game. But a 'pure' PvP player is most likely not interested in farming anyway. With all the options in the game to obtain money the 'pure' PvP player would have a very good alternative to acquire gear and stuff he wants. With that, that 'pure' PvP player most likely will become a pirate anyway, and live of the packs that the farm owners make
