World of Warcraft: Log In to Claim Your Horde Chopper

SBFordSBFord Former Associate EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 33,129

At the conclusion of the World of Warcraft-based web series, "Azeroth Choppers", fans voted the Horde version of a real world chopper as the winner. According to a new post on the World of Warcraft site, players need to log in by September 30th to claim their new mount! The chopper will arrive with the Warlords of Draenor expansion later this year.

The Horde chopper is on its way, and you need to log in now to claim it!

Your votes for Azeroth Choppers were counted, and one faction’s war cry roared loudest: the Horde bike will now be turned into a mount in World of Warcraft! Anyone who logs in to the game between now and September 30, 2014 will automatically have their account flagged to receive the Horde chopper upon the release of the upcoming Warlords of Draenor expansion. Everyone can (and should!) claim their chopper by logging in now, but as a reminder, only your Horde characters will be able to mount up and take it for a ride.

I'm assuming nothing seeing they lost.

They could have at least made a new emote for alliance... like a "jealous look at the new Horde mount" or the "bitch and whine because you lost rant".

That's annoying, was going to re sub when Draenor launches. I doubt it will be released before September 30th. Guess I'll be missing out on this mount.

Exactly, I was going to switch to ally when WoD hits anyways. The whole re-sub is a good play by Blizzard >.>

And those of us who never played Horde, and have no intention of ever playing Horde get??

Oh yeah, screwed over. Again. Blizzard swears up and down they're not biased in favor of the Horde, but actions speak far louder than words. One of many reasons I won't be playing WoW ever again.

Did you even watch the web series and see the contest? What is the point of the competition if there is no winner. I play Alliance and Horde so my cheeks aren't awash with butthurt tears.

What a cheap sly money grab from Actibli$$ion, so the people who are unsubbed and taking a break will have to pay 15 dollors if they want the bike before 30th september, damn, that company has gone to shit..

Incoming, alliance bike in store for  $30

They don't say only Horde get it. I believe EVERYONE gets the mount even Alliance.

Just imagine you stole it from an Orc if it bothers you.

Lordy, everyone was mad that they thought it would end up a cash shop mount and mount and now that's it's free they are STILL mad cause you have to be subbed to get it.

Did you really think they'd give it to people who aren't subscribed?! Lol

That's not really the issue, for me anyway.  I see it as a cash grab, when the game hasn't had a content update in almost a year.  So, instead of giving the players more content, they give a mount away, and are asking $15 a month for it.  They could've released it along with a content update, but chose not to.  This company is becoming worse than a  f2p-infested cash shop.

Hell when I played wow all my characters except 1 were alliance. I find it funny. the people complaining about the horde mount. Saying blizzard screwed the alliance over and is being bias. Guess what if it was reversed those same people would claim it was fair. MIND YOU PLAYERS VOTED FOR THE WINNER. So you and me people voted and the mount one. But blizzard gets blamed. Lack of common sense? Blame the alliance players who didn't vote in larger numbers. To the outpoor of Horde players. And on top of that its a mount. The game has probally over 100 mounts.

I'm all for free mounts but as a long time engineer this sickens me.

I really don't see what Blizzard gained by alienating half their playerbase. I think this competition is going to go down in the Top 5 video game marketing flops of all time, beating out /pizza by a landfall.

Nice! "Well we got absolutely nothing to offer you... so pay for a sub to do the same trivial stuff over and over again you have been for a while now and get the bike, even though most people likely have no reason too!" A good scheme indeed to try and get people to pay for something 'exclusive' without needing any content to be put in otherwise!

This. And it's even worse. Cause they don't just alienate the Alliance playerbase, but all Horde players who feel forced to resub before 9/30/2014 just to get the mount :)

Aiming low might end with shooting in your own foot. At least it may push the sub numbers enough for their next conference call to look not that bad ;)

Well, I guess I won't be getting this mount, not worth the 15 dollars.  I am glad I have plenty of other mounts anyways.  If someone gets, post a screenshot.  Maybe ill get jealous and maybe i'll change my mind :)

Login before Sept 30th lol  A little goodie to entice you to resub. Blatant money grab... If ActiBlizz was serious about giving you a "free" mount, they would just add it to your account (no need to login)

    Sly one there $Bobby$

It could have been handled differently, as people knew from the onset that the horde would be the winner.  If you take a look at the posts regarding the show when it first started -- and the rules thereof -- people were already proclaiming horde the winner since it won't be on what bike people enjoy the most, but what faction has the most outspoken players.  "Why are they even having a contest?   Just give it to the horde."  Indeed, the horde do outnumber the Alliance -- it's to the point where Blizzard is even offering free faction transfers (they have the full stats and not guesses from fan sites) from the horde to the Alliance.

I still recall the many horde individuals who spat on and beat up people wearing alliance shirts back in 2011's Blizzcon or something; even the developers and security were laughing at it and shouting "for the horde!".  Much less, their admittance that they focused on horde areas more than Alliance with Cataclysm and then ran out of time for what they had planned for the alliance.  In truth -- and this is coming from someone who played Alliance and Horde from Vanilla to Wrath and then Horde exclusively from Cataclysm to this day (having 5 full Prideful horde characters and no max level alliance before I quit) -- there has been exceeding amounts of horde favoritism, which they have been trying to downplay since last Blizzcon with Metzen going on about how the Alliance are the Superpower now -- but we'll never see it in game.

The Alliance Garrisons are looking to be much more appealing to a lot of people now.  But it seems to be one step forward and two steps back.  The sheer stupidity of having people vote for what their faction will get and not what bike was actually best is beyond me.  Not to mention this is essentially another horde focused expansion with Garrosh and the Warlords with minor roles played by Draeni to fight them as well as more Blood Elf (horde, sadly) lore.

Doubt I'll ever leave my horde characters behind, but one would have to be blind not to see which one is preferred by the team or how easy it is to make a rigged contest, knowing the end result beforehand.  To reiterate it could have been so easy to make it so people chose their favorite bike or a contests that didn't rely on attrition.  But they chose to use these tactics, and then make it so people had to resubscribe to get it (which in itself isn't a problem as it could be viewed as a rewards thing for those who are still sub'd... if you're horde that is.  And if you aren't, then what the heck is wrong with you at this point?).

Due to frequent travel in my youth, English isn't something I consider my primary language (and thus I obtained quirky ways of writing).  German and French were always easier for me despite my family being U.S. citizens for over a century.  Spanish I learned as a requirement in school, Japanese and Korean I acquired for my youthful desire of anime and gaming (and also work now).  I only debate in English to help me work with it (and limit things).  In addition, I'm not smart enough to remain fluent in everything and typically need exposure to get in the groove of things again if I haven't heard it in a while.  If you understand Mandarin, I know a little, but it has actually been a challenge and could use some help.

Also, I thoroughly enjoy debates and have accounts on over a dozen sites for this.  If you wish to engage in such, please put effort in a post and provide sources -- I will then do the same with what I already wrote (if I didn't) as well as with my responses to your own.  Expanding my information on a subject makes my stance either change or strengthen the next time I speak of it or write a thesis.  Allow me to thank you sincerely for your time.

Well, there are a lot more Horde players as well.  So it's smart business to target the bigger playerbase for their money, and then cause enough commotion to get free publicity since the Alliance characters get nothing.
