Typical "my system is not secure but I'll blame the game company instead".
My opinion is my own. I respect all other opinions and views equally, but keep in mind that my opinion will always be the best for me. That's why it's my opinion.
Originally posted by Pezant1973 I purchased Wildstar at the beginning of early access. Im a very casual player with maybe a L24 engineer being my highest level character. I haven't played the game in over two weeks due to work and RL obligations and then today when I went to cancel my account I noticed that it was suspended. At first I thought my subscription ran out and checked my bank records and noticed I was charged $15 on 7/7/14. I then went into my email and noticed on 7/17 they suspended my account for use of a 3rd party program. Considering I have not logged in in over 2 weeks this is utter bullshit. I have zero virus's on this computer and theres no way I ever clicked on anything to get jacked. As for the password part I am convinced that the breach is on their end. I submitted a ticket asking for a refund as I dont plan to ever buy a game from a scamming company.
And you made this post before a answer was given by your ticket WHY?
Ok so just got an email from NCsoft stating that I need to change password to get account back. What happened was someone got ahold of my account name and password and went to town with a bot of some sort. As for how it happened if I had to guess this goes back maybe 4 years ago when I was playing Wow. Long story short Im thinking I paid a chinaman to level a character in Wow and seeing as how my account name and password was the same as in Wildstar they probally keep a history. There ya go I was wrong lol. Took a while to think about it but it makes perfect sense.

You just lost every shred of credibility you could have had ... not that it matters.

I had a similar situation happen to me as the OP. I hadn't logged in for a couple weeks. As my sub was about to run out, I got an e-mail saying my account my suspended for 3rd party software or something. I had no idea why this happened.
Unlike the OP, I didn't make a pointless thread here complaining about something I wouldn't even bother to try and remedy. Instead, I actually talked to support and they told me exactly this. They said, my account was hacked into and they suspended it before they could do anything to it. Within 24 hours, my account was back and anything that might of been taken was put back.
OP, stop arguing with every person here and just get a hold of support.
I don't know...I've got a good feeling about his solution. If enough people really believe good things can happen! The game lord will come down from his magic pink cloud touch his account on the head and it will be HEELED!
Funny you should say that. Same thing happened to me at around the sound date. I contacted support explained to them I was probably hacked and I went and added the 2 step verification. The next day they turned my account back on, told me that they were too back logged to do a restore and sent me a bunch of armor that I could use or sell. I logged on, saw I had all my stuff, the emails from customer support with the armor, an extra 2 plat from the botters and an inventory full of tier 5 ore and wood. Oh and my harvesting skills are now tier 5 too.

I backup Pezant, the exact same shit happened to me. Wildstar's security is fcuked, they won't admit it.
And no you shouldn't have to use 2-step security. But with Wildstar you must, cause they are noob.
WoW must be a noob as well. The biggest MMO company around doesnt know what they are doing...
That is the funniest thing I've read in a long time. I've been playing MMOs for 14 or so years and the ONLY game I have ever had my account hacked in is WoW and I had active accounts in other games at the same time I was playing it, so the theory that Blizzard has nothing to do with it is just plain BS. I'm not a conspiracy theorist thinking they allow accounts to get hacked, but I do think their security must have some holes somewhere to have so many accounts hacked.

What I really find strange is that I have SOE account, Battlenet account [....]
You have never had a battlenet account then. Ask anyone who has not had a authenticator on their account. They have been hacked before. WoW accounts get hacked all the time.
The poster clearly stated he has a Battle.Net Account that never got hacked. Is there any reason to mistrust him?
And second (won't change anything in your world view, but nontheless): I have a Battle.net Account since 2000. I never had an Authenticator and never will use one (on any account for that matter). And guess what? I never had a compromised Battle.net Account either.
The only game account in almost 17 years of online gaming that ever got compromised was my "League of Legends" Account. The story behind this: those idiots from Riot Games lost their whole customer database with all login data (the passwords were really poorly secured in it) to some hackers. So not really my fault. And it caused no real harm, cause I used completely arbitrary personal information and a one-purpose mail address. I would recommend this procedure even with 2-step-authentication in place, identity theft is way more relevant than a hacked game account after all. And there were no credit card informations involved as well (I'm very cautious with this type of information).
It may be difficult for you to believe. Online security is possible. Yes, it is a bit of work. And yes, it takes a fair amount of knowledge. But nontheless it's possible ...

I don't know if it's relevant in your case, but 2-step-authentication on the same device as the game client is very close to snakeoil. If you use it that way, run the authenticator app at least on a virtual machine. Virtual PC from Microsoft is free. And even real 2-step-authentication is not bullet proof. There are already sophistacted attacks out in the wild for online banking authentication that work at least with Android phones. So only a matter of time ....
