The OP and any other ragers need a MASSIVE REALITY CHECK.
Products often get cheaper over time. Anyone who has spent more than a few years playing games would have noticed that. It applies to both single-player games and MMOs.
Heaps of other stuff too. I bought a digitial camera back when they first hit the market. I paid $1000 for mine. I took it on a few overseas trips and lent it to a friend to do the same. We got great value out of it. A few years later the same camera - a good model which kept being made for many years - was selling for about $300.
Was I ripped off? No. Neither was anyone by this Steam sale.
Besides the cost of making a product, a certain amount of money is spent developing and marketing it. Once the developer makes back those development costs it makes sense to lower the price. Making it more affordable means more people can have one. The company makes more money and more people get to enjoy the product. Win win.
This is one of the more benevolent forces in a free market economy. The rich (or sometimes just especially eager) contribute more money to product development. The less wealthy can eventually have most things though if they just wait long enough.
Any time you pay to play a game at launch you do so knowing that you're effectively paying more (compared to what it will cost later) for earlier access. If you really really really really want to play that particular game then the full price will probably be worth it. If not just wait until the price inevitably drops.
No one forced you to pay $100, if you didn't find it an acceptable price then you simply could of not paid it. The fact you did pay it shows you are happy to give SOE that amount so stop moaning.
If you want to buy things at sale prices, wait for the sales.

the trailblazer ingame title is *not* being offered to players who bought the pack after Alpha ended
Before you bought the founders pack, you should have made sure they said it was only alpha exclusive and when it would be discontinued, for all you knew when you laid down the money for the founders pack, was some guy after release of the game could get it as well.
First sign you should have known the founders pack was a bad idea... Paid beta! What more could you ask for. I guess I could say told you so, but everyone in the forums have been screaming this for months now, unfortunatly instead of learn from other peoples mistakes, you decided to learn the HARD WAY!
Of course it's not a typical MMO. That would be Everquest Next. Not sure what the confusion is all about. SOE has never said they're making two identical genre MMOS simultaneously to compete with themselves. They have always said what Landmark would be about...more or less.
I was never interested but decided to grab a key, Glad I did.
And the bans are coming fast and heavy at the main boards too. Just got one myself for politely criticizing the new paintjob tech outfit and a few other things.
Long and short is, Dave got the money he needed for a lifetime of hotoil treatments for that crappy 70's ponytail and now he doesn't give a shit.

Imagine how the people paying 150 bucks for Archage are going to feel in a month or 2 lol

"Politely critcizing." Given your followup, I think you need to rethink your definition of "polite."

Well, the whole point of joining here to post was so I didn't have to tone it down. If you anything less than polite and ass kissey there you get banned these days. The thread it was in is missing about 10 posts from it now, with three other people banned, who were even nicer than I was.
Or maybe you are just a big fan of Steven Segall hair and I offended you.
This thread is absolute gold entertainment. The justifications these people are coming up with to say that SOE screwed them are quite frankly hilarious.
This is honestly just another symptom of the entitlement mindset.
They can't seem to figure out that they were paying primarily for early access. Just because OP chose to wait 2.5 months after the original "release" of early access to purchase said early access doesn't mean he was getting screwed.
Honestly this whole thread just reminds me of the phrase, "there is a fool born every minute".
Why these people pay for these ultra expensive founder packs and super early access BS is beyond me. But, IMO, they deserve everything they get.

I personally don't care about the sale. I knew I was paying $100 bucks to play now. A sale is good at this point. Most islands are ghost towns of half finished claims and no chat in general at all. If it gets more people active, hey all the better.
It's the watering down of items that, while in some cases they may not have stated in black and white repostable letters, they definitely implied repeatedly exclusive and gone after alpha. That's the hook for all gamers anywhere. Get cool shit nobody else can get later on.
Then they follow it up less than a week later with a repaint of the tech gear.
That couple with the lack of any communication or interaction at this point, despite them going blah blah new thing we want YOU involved blah blah. Oh well, I'm over it for the most part. Been seeing this come from SOE for a loooooooooooooong time now so it almost feels more familiar and comfortable than it used to. That whole being nice and down with the community thing felt strange.

Sony cannot tolerate ANY type of criticism. I got a warning and had this post removed.
SOE should be experienced enough that this "misunderstanding" should never have happened. They are either incompetent or its all PR doubletalk BS where they say what they think people want to hear.
They are really big on talking up how the community is shaping the game but i don't see it. They are just making decisions that will make the game better for them not for the community imo.

Yup, exactly. And hell, mine didn't even contain anything as offensive as 'BS' lol

OP, here is an example of a post with concerns that are actually valid, and the author actually *gasp* takings responsibility for his own actions. Amazing, i know.

Originally posted by Aztec I had the trailblazer pack for 2 weeks before the sale happened. So did I benefit, yes. However, I bought the most expensive pack for the virtual items not in the lesser packs. If I just wanted access I would have paid 20- for the cheapest one. Now my investment of 100- two weeks ago is now for sale for 33-. I do not think anyone expected to see founders packs go on sale. I think most though they would stop selling them and the items would be exclusive to founders. This is such an obvious money grab and it hurts the founders as the exclusivity is lost now and the edge they paid for.
This. This right here reveals both what is wrong with videogames now and why you're butthurt over the sale. Money grabs and people paying for an edge. Both make me not give a shit about this post other than pointing this out. You fell into a money trap and now you're mad people fell into that trap for less. Oh well.
They refused my refund request even after they verified that over the last 15 years they have made more than $25000 US dollars from me.
I made very sure they understood they will never see another dollar from me.
I still have 7 months on mine and my wife's all access subs, and 17k in station cash but that did not deter me in the least from uninstalling all SOE games from both my computer and PS4.
As a business owner myself I just have to say if I treated my customers the way some of these corporations do, I would be out of business so fast it would make my head spin.
I grew up in a time and culture where the customer was always right and even when the customer was wrong they were still right.
I grew up when they use to teach ethics in our schools, when we instilled honor, integrity, and pride in ourselves, our communities, and our country.
I try and always make sure I never create a situation that would necessitate a compensation, refund, or credit. However in any business those situations will always arise, and when they do I encourage and support my employees to not only honor a request but to get in front of a bad situation and offer recompense.
Recently The Last of Us Remastered released for PS4. A lot of people paid for it in full when the pre-order came avaliable. Later they reduced the price, NOBODY had to request a credit or refund. The got out in front of it and let us know they had lowered the price and were issuing us credits.
That is the way to do business, not the way SOE has chosen to handle the landmark business.

Did you really expect $OE to let comments like those stand? Really?

I' ve said and seen far worse on plenty of other forums. In fact as far as i can remember this is the first time i have had a post removed from a forum.
SOE's zero tolerance stance on criticism does itself no favours. I'm not a big fan of censorship and removing my post ticked me off more than my original grievance.
