A modernized DAoC would be my choice, Will have to see in CU can capture the feeling that only DAoC has given me in my lifetime.

    Currently Playing: ESO and FFXIV
    Have played: You name it
If you mention rose tinted glasses, you better be referring to Mitch Hedberg.

a dark fantasy game build for 18+....  Which is not afraid to add 18+ content

With many of the features we know from  GW2...  But

    - with thrinnity

    - with vertical  progression and an AAA system

    - with multi classing

    - with companions

    - with much much more personal story, and co tinously added personal stories

    - factiosn based on players actions and personal story choices

    - No WvWvW but  actuall PvP dynamic events, that turn whole zones intoo PvP war, where players can choose different sides based on their factions...

    - more dungeons, and raid content

    - personal story dungeons soloable, some with aid of companions

    and from some other games...

    Eq trains...

eq deathpennalties in PvE zones... ( not in groupdungeons or in PvP)

ddo classystem and spellchoices ( old dnD )

    eq2 guildsystem

    wildstar housing system

    and more....

A good mix between thempark and sandbox...

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

EvE in a Fantasy/Medieval World would be the perfect  mmo for me.

All Time Favorites: EQ1, WoW, EvE, GW1
    Playing Now: WoW, ESO, GW2

  • keenberkeenber Member UncommonPosts: 438

    Original Everquest with new graphics.

Most of what EQ was but a graphic overhaul would be what I want.

1 ) No quest except some epic quests that give you very special gear that when you have the reward on you everybody knows and look at you and wish they could get there epic.

2 ) classes that are distinct and unique. I don't mind if you can swap out classes as needed but a healer has to be a healer , a tank has to be a tank and so on. When you are hunting mobs you need a group of all different classes or it will be very hard to kill anything worth while.

3 ) mobs need to be hard to kill and they need to have some intelligents . They need to wander and not return to there spawn spot when they lose agro. Mobs need to be sociable so that other mobs will add when they have agro on a player. This will make pullers a must for groups or a lot of thought when hunting mobs.

4 ) separate PvP servers from PvE servers or no PvP what so ever. No arena type PvP.

5 ) open dungeons that are huge in size and each one is unique. Massive raids that are not just watch the glow on the ground type thing but raids that take months to work out how to beat and even then if everybody isn't on there game the whole raid will wipe. The rewards need to be visible gear that everybody can see when you use them and make you proud to wear them. Also better spells and skills should be rewarded to players that have worked hard to beat these raids

6 ) crafting that can create unique items that are wanted and very desirable . Crafting should be very hard and take months of hard work to master but should also be fun to do.

7 ) it should take months to master your class and each class that you can use should be seperat to master. Then when you master these classes there should be ways to fine tune them and make them unique.

8 ) there is many more things I would love to see but the last main thing I would like is that the game has to have realistic graphics and it has to be a subscription model with no FTP options except maybe a limited trial.

I want another BioWare MMO similar to SWTOR with fantasy or modern time theme with great story, companions and old fashined combat system. I hate action combat.

    Please don't kill me LOL.

I've thought about this question a few years back while I was still playing WoW and the MMO that has pretty much answered my question at this point in time would be Firefall, did not disappoint.

    1. Seamless open world game no instances all players in the same world - easy

    2. Group centric game where you have to be grouped to do anything and is also 100% soloable

    3. Open world PvP with full loot, also no griefing and you don't lose anything if you die

    4. No levels and 100% skill based, also has scaling gear based on player and mob levels

    5. Max level 900 at launch with raids available at level 1, new raid at every 10 levels

    6. Three sided PvP because DAoC was best

    7. Fully destructible voxel world with open non-instanced housing, also preserving the original look and feel of the world to prevent anarchy and chaos

    8. The game would have a solid setting like high fantasy western with sci-fi and nanotech too, traditional non-crazy races like Humans Elves and Orcs. Also zombies as this would be a zombie surivial PvE sandbox with paladins and Cyber Dragons.

    9. The AI would be revolutionary, you could talk to NPCs about recent world events, politics and even exchange Chuck Norris Jokes!

    10. Graphics - stylized cartoon realistic graphics running at 60fps on your kitchen toaster

    11. Combat - the most important aspect - mess this up and all of the above won't matter - real time aiming with tab targeting and turn based, but HIGH degree of player skill at the keyboard

    12. First person isometric ARPG stategy shooter would be the idea with MOBA gameplay in open world persistant instances

Finaly the most important - monetization - the game would  be B2P with monthly recurring fees but completely free to play with NO fees for most days of the month. You could also buy in game subscription with real money! Players who pay would get it completely free - so basically a 100% Free to play game with no cash shop.

    Win-Win

And DMKano's post wins!!   This thread is officially closed!

So it appears all we need are 50 million or so different types of MMO's and everyone will be happy.     So glad we got that cleared up after all these years.

FFA Nonconsentual Full Loot PvP ...You know you want it!!

  • SEANMCADSEANMCAD Member EpicPosts: 16,775

if another fantasy based MMO was never created for the rest of time I would be happy.

In my day I enjoyed fantasy but its really time to explore other genre's. Oh and death to class based systems please.

Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.

Please do not respond to me

Directional combat like mount and blade warband.
    Magic system simular to magicka.
Procedurally generated world with dynamic quests like modded minecraft.
Leveling system like crpg mod for warband.
Robust crafting system with item decay.
Completely destructible/ buildable environment like minecraft.
    Siege warfare like warband.
    And some other stuff.

I lost all hope for seeing any really good MMORPG in the next couple of years.

Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)

Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)

The things I want in a new MMO weren't mentioned in the OP...but they aren't controversial and would add a ton of value for me:

--Chat bubbles in spatial and chat types (thought bubbles, shouts, etc.).

    --A "walk" option.

    --Animated emotes.

--Animated character actions (sitting, lying down, on the cellphone, etc.)

--Animated props we could use (tools, newspapers, books, notebooks with writing animations, laptops, etc.)

    --Costumes and casual wear.

--Sets and scenarios (apartments, abandoned warehouses, labs, etc...purely for roleplay)

If you give me those things, I can entertain myself and improvise when the other things get stale.  And they don't really get in the way of any other special interest's core concerns (PvP, powerguilds, casuals, etc.).  If anything, these tools make everyone's game better, from the hardcore übercla0r, to the bored housewife who logs on for 30 minutes here and there.

Star Citizen will be the next BIG MMO

so i say "Space Sim - Planetary FPS hybrid MMO"

  • nomotagnomotag Member UncommonPosts: 166

I think I would like to see a mmo focused on role playing. The idea is to try and build the game around the feeling that your living in a fantasy world rather then playing a game. Classes would be designed around fulfilling fantasy arch types rather then mmo roles. The wizard class would be a wizard not a range DPS. The thief would spend more of their time stealing then killing monsters. Then you would have other classes with even less to do with combat like bards, merchants smiths who would have abilities related to singing, shopping, and smiting.

    - A game that is mentally challenging

    - A game with content that evolves over time

    - A game that rewards uniqueness

    - A game with real AIs

    - A game where every single player is important

    - A game that makes players want to band together

    - Preferably as an MMOFPS for good immersion

Just pew-pew and pwn em all!

This i agree in full with, altough i subsitute the repopulation with Archeage.

All these "big" mmo launches with alot of hype just getting uninstalled within 2 weeks after paying full price.

After so many themepark failures i am realy done with them.....

Sci-fi or steampunk, new IP, good single player story.

all instances, 3D city or 2D lobby is fine ...

    action combat

    no server boundary.

I want AOE+FFXI +housing with everything FFXI did tweaked to be even better. There was lot's of room to make FFXI better.

I want EVERYTHING to be plausible no silly ideas.I want everything based on mythology with lot's of different cultures.I could go for prehistoric times with man struggling to compete versus the giant dinosaurs.

I want an ECO system and MUCH better more plausible re-spawns of resources.

    ZERO hand holding

    NO xp quests

    EVERYTHING has to be discovered.

An open design that allows a game to grow into the future over long periods of time, advancing from say using clubs and spears to guns and more advanced weapons and technology,so ya basically AOE.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

    -Fantasy

    -Sandbox

-that has sexy females, not afraid to have SOME armor be skimpy and unrealistic.

-Levels but not many, maybe 20. Easy to level to max in 2 days played time.

-All items in the world are crafted, gathered, or farmed. Gathered materials are found all over the world and are specific to region, not level of the zone.

-Ability to be played in first and third person would be a plus

-Pre-Level 20 you have 1/3 of the world to explore freely and everything grants equal experience (Grinding/Gathering/Crafting/PvP/Quests). Once hitting 20, the entire world is explorable.

-Gear grind based on crafting by acquiring rare materials either from World Bosses, rare monsters,  or nodes. Little to no RNG.

-No classes, Similar to Secret world style progression. Pick and choose as you go.

    - Open PvP objectives that are rewarding either with gold or other in-game currency.

-No Trinity required, but you can still specialize in defense, healing, dmg, support etc.

-No Action combat unless it is similar to TERA's system.

Now Playing: Bless / Summoners War
Looking forward to: Crowfall / Lost Ark / Black Desert Mobile

MMO, possibly fantasy or sci fi, tab targeting (WASD be gone!), 3rd person, pressing mouse buttons to move, ....

If will be based on the best of the best (Wow & Swtor), with widely accepted controls, interface, ... even better.

Still, most of what you've described is in TSW.  That said, you have to think about people who love gaming but have outside responsibilities... if it's all sandbox, that doesn't really leave them much...

In light of your multiple career direction... how about a dedicated PVP server or area ... that is always gonna be yer sandbox

That is what i want from my next MMO

So long as they deliver as promised it will be the best MMO in a long time, I dont care how "big" it is (i dont like wow at all which is the biggest in terms of subs) all I care about is a game I can really enjoy and The Repop promises to offer that
