I like the Video! it is also nice to see how destructible the Environment is, especially when you see both Opponents falling through the floor into a cave below
just Needs to run a Little bit smoother. However, dark elves are my favorite race to Play in Fantasy rpgs, so I am glad to see some of them in Action.
After watching the 1 hour live segment.. and when i can breathe it in.. i mean the games actions and pvp looks pretty sick
and UNIQUE.. the Cleric looked rock solid.. loved the shield..
Now realize this is Pre-Alpha.. imagine 20% better, smoother graphics at launch.. 20% better movement..
20% enviroment..
Imagine what you see now + 20% at release.. this can be the next big thing.. but they need to keep improving and preferably release it before end of 2016.

Some stuff was AE, but a sword will hit everything it goes through has well. They are probably going to do the same thing has in DCUO in the final game: the more creatures hit by a weapon, the less damage you do to each ones.
i know that graphics dont make a game, but after watching that video i'm begininig to think that the devs must work for walt disney or hanna-barbara. how cartoonish can they make these games look?
it seems a lot of the games that come out these days are being made for the disney channel. cant they do something a bit more realistic and aimed at the 12+ age group instead of kids?
the toons seem to be taking a step backwards and being over simplified. hope the game plays better than it looks when it comes out
Look past the rough edges .... I think with PvP there will be less deaths and more epic / lengthy fights just due to the morphing and running.Very intriguing stuff and will allow for far more dynamic combat.
It is growing on me.
Once everything becomes weighted and less 'skippy' the hits and punches will feel more connected.
The combat looks very neverwinter, but on the good side if it has to be action based, then neverwinter has some of the most interesting and tactical I have tried. I would have preferred less twitch action combat, but I never expected anything else. Now is the question of how it will feel when You get your hands on it, and for me to like it, it has to more tactical skill than twitch skill... sort of like neverwinter but slightly slower paced.
One thing I really hate is the excessive effects that seem to be the standard in new mmorps, it doesn't do anything for me other than give me a headache and prevent seeing what is going on.. the ability to turn off or turn down effects will be absolute key for me.
The good stuff and "next gen" is probably how the world and the game is dynamic and hopefully provides freedom instead of railroaded stories.. well lets see, that is just words so far.
and now .. to Archeage beta, lets see what this thing is ps. mmohuts still has a few keys (I got one an hour ago).
Some people really just need to stop watching development coverage. I know a lot of people can't help but ride that hype train but come on guys... this is a tech demo, it was never advertised as anything more. They aren't releasing the game yet, and they've tried to include us in the development process from a fairly early stage of the game.
This is how games work, you start smart small. Work w/ unrefined mechanics & concepts, and tweak them into a finished project. It's iterative. Most of what you guys are used to seeing as 'unveiled' spoilers, devs have actually been sitting on for months.
~ Anyways, it's good to see that they are finally getting around to the combat. it clearly needs tweaking, but I'll keep watching to see what they do with it. It still seems very early on, and I wouldn't be too worried about it unless they start throwing out a release date before that & the AI is done.
Originally posted by Tyggs Ugh, I might be done with MMOs. There doesn't seem to be anything fun in them anymore, to me at least. After playing Destiny and PT. I'm gonna stick to single player and hybrids. They seem to be the only one pushing the limits.
I've seen the videos for Black Desert a few times. It's pretty, but still nothing new or exciting. It looks just like TERA to me. I might just be burned out. The games may be fantastic, but just not for me at this time.
It even has the same horrible NPC/object draw-distance that Tera does where shit just pops up in front of your face out of nowhere.
this is really disappointing for the IP ..im mean for gods sake it looks like free realms online with cooler gear ..but hey? isnt this what people want ? i mean ya just look at wildstar! ...a sad sad day indeed i think its time to fold my hand altogether on the mmorpg genre
i dont trust anything that soe n smed does and something smelled fishy from get go
Even the introduction thursday shows how out of touch SOE is. Tuttle actually expected people to be excited about britney spears.... They use twitch and twitter to make design decisions now. This is why the stream has the same amount of viewers as random indie games.
I'm not even a "hater" and EQN was one of the only games besides Black Desert I was really even interested in but honestly this game just fell off my radar unless the NPC's are damn near realistic AI levels of interaction. Not very impressed with anything Ive seen so far. /shrug. I still hold out hope, but I dunno my interest level just went from Full bore to non existent.
The people that are trying to make the world worse never take a day off , why should I. Light up the darkness Bob Marley
Wow. I was soooo excited for EQN but now I have no idea what to say.
Possibly switching EQN to the same setup as Landmark.. was a bad idea. The style , voxels , action combat . etc feels at home in Landmark .. In EQN I feel it could be holding the game back. Go launch Planetside 2 and then Landmark.. I would rather be running around an EQN that looked like PS2 than Landmark.
Destructible world sounds good, but looks bad. After building stuff in Landmark I realized how limited their voxel system is to create detailed shapes with. You see the flaws in the buildings and instead of using good artists, they copied what people made in Landmark. Even though there are some amazing stuff in Landmark, the voxel based stuff wont stand scrutiny. Voxels for terrain is ok, but for buildings etc, not pretty.
What they showed with abilities that digs holes in the ground is just unfitting and unnatural, hey even in Landmark I find it kindda wierd that you can just start up your (forgot the name) "disintegrator5000" and 30 secs later having dug youself a 100m deep hole in solid rock.
First order of business should really be to try and fix the fundamental problems with voxels limited shape options and looks, that is what Landmark needs badly, then it might be acceptable to use for a mmorpg like eqnext that is supposed to compete with beautiful and almost naturalistic style in other mmorpgs.
Agree, I'm too old and arthritic for this action crap. If I want a fighting game I'll get my butt kicked on Smash Bros or Street Fighter or something. I've been with EQ for years, since EQOA, up to now, a founder of Landmark....it's like a slap in the face not listening to old fans, it's just a console kid money grab. To top it off, it's just going to be a recycled Landmark with a few more mob and AI, etc... Adios EQ. GL
Originally posted by Aelious It looks clunky because it was on the EQN test server. The animations in Landmark are actually very smooth and detailed.
Just don't show it if it's not ready and looks that bad.
Look, we loved or hated or are somewhere in between with WoW (ya I'm going there).
Do you know why it's still doing pretty good after 10 years? The combat is tight. Now it might not be the type of combat you like, but it's a game that when you click your button, you feel something is happening.
2 games I played that I wanted to like, Warhammer Online and SWTOR just didn't have that level of crispness if you will.
One is dead, the other is free to play.
They can run their mouths about Voxels and such all they want, but if the game plays anything like it looks in that video, thats GG.

Yeah this is now blatantly obvious that it is being made for and marketed towards children/low teens.
What a waste to do this to their EQ IP.
