Guys I think this is interesting if the poll can keep going. I tried AA this weekend and ive got to say im pretty impressed but I know im a casual poke and didn't even make it to the fun stuff i.e L30.

Ive been burned by many and normally I try a game and then cant log back in.

Im curious on peoples rating from 1 - 10..

I have reached 5 levels and I am not wanting to play anymore. I hear that you have to get to lvl 30 before the game gets good. I don't think I can do 25 more levels of this. I will try more until the beta ends Weds, but only to see if it gets better.

I have not yet reached the magic lvl 30, but I basically stopped questing once I had enough Gilda stars to buy the clipper - and that was around lvl 22. Just from farming, trade runs, and crafting (especially as I am getting everything together to build the boat) I have gained 4 levels without any questing...oddly enough though I am not even noticing the levels that much. I am far too focused on getting my ship built and heading on my first 'across the sea' trade run.

The questing is been "meh" as has the story, but now that I have a goal set (that I set myself) of making the boat, the game all of a sudden got a LOT more fun. After digging through the crafting encyclopedia, I know that there is enough there to keep me busy for a very long time. Once I stopped looking at it as a questing game, it got 10x better.

The game isnt a perfect 10, but now that I am playing it on my terms (rather than chasing the gold "!"), this is definitely a game I can see myself sticking with for a while.

I don't understand why you think it gets better at lv 30. I started building my own house at lv 11, and completed it at lv 16. Leveled up from 11 to 18 with mining, cutting trees and crafting only.

Probably because there is too much misinformstion about this title floating around this sewer of a sight & most of these people posting are sheep who are too insecure to form their own opinion so they just end up parroting their preconceived fears.

I mean, I like beer. Yea...

    Yep, and extremely accurate.

I like AA, a lot actually, but as a f2p game it's not going to work. LP being accumulated only when online means hours of afking to build LP, unless you go patron and get the offline LP accumulation.

The simple fact is, that LP is used for too much. For crafting, harvesting, disenchanting, considering that crafted gear is probably the best, I can see it, but to open "purses"(which contain the loot from the mobs you killed) or to identify quest reward items before you can equip/sell/disenchant them is a bit overkill imo. LP limitations mean that only patrons will get to enjoy the game without spending hours logged in afk, which generates unnecessary server load.

Additionally, the fact that you can buy tax deeds, etc, as a free player, but cannot actually have certain plots(like a scarecrow, not sure about housing itself), unless you are a patron, is bit bogus.

    Just my two cents.

It's basically the same crap once you reach level 30+ the only thing thats changed from there is in those current areas (30+) PvP opens up. You'll still have to quest and such. Another new instanced dungeon opens up for you if you choose to do so.

Thats the only thing I've been doing and a little bit of harvesting and crafting on the side. But what I highlighted in red...

I get how it can be fun to move away from questing and just leveling up. But I REFUSE to stay logged in and wait countless HOURS for my labor points to build up just to craft 1 or 2 times and then wait again. Even harvesting takes A LOT of labor points, especially if you harvest the rarer nodes. It costs 100 labor points to craft most stuff, and 100 labor points takes 20 minutes. I usually play around 2-4 hours a day. That means if I dont use my labor points while I'm out questing I get about 6-12 crafts during that time. And if you count in harvesting its far less. 10 points to harvest and 20 points to harvest rares.

I get how you can buy potions to replenish your labor points (1000 points from crafted potions and 2000 from cash shop?) But it is ridiculously painful for me to wait for labor points to craft and harvest. Dont get me wrong I like the game, its just annoying sometimes waiting for labor points.

But people who thinks getting to level 30+ will be fun, you're in for quite a surprise. PvP opens up and soon you'll find out its the same crap as most other open world PvP. You'll get out numbered and ganked A LOT! You'll get stalked and they'll be waiting for you outside the safe zone.

Majority of players use the Shadowplay tree just for the stealth ability. Just be mindful and aware of your surroundings. PvP is fun, dont get me wrong. You have a good chance of killing at least 1 player before you go down. It's just not fun when you see a level 50 character roam around killing all the level 30 guys. I've seen one such guy kill 10 level 30's and only lost half his life.

Yea becouse we will all get happy when ftp bots gobble up all the land deeds making players pay real cash for deeds and if you lose your plot due to patron running out having to do the same again

Not really past games have shown us that if ppl can exploit they will and making land deeds free for all would do exactly what i described

There's a 12 hour cool down for using labor potions. Being a patron is A MUST in this game. But at this time, I'm note ready to commit to this game, as I'm still waiting and looking forward to other games.

I just like to say theres nothing magic after lvl 30, some ppl love territorys after 30 because of the random pvp but others quit the game because of that, even befor they try diferent ways to avoid it.

AA is a traditional combat skill up while leveling, so in terms of combat lvl 30 is better then 25, 25 better then 20, 50 better then 45, etc.

Combat for me is boring untill lvl 15, around this lvl i start to try diferent combos, respect my skills, play around my build. then lvl 20 gettes better and so on every 5 lvls.

Around 30 theres allready a few combo options and ppl start to improve builds special because of the random pvp, but this dont mean game change alot around this lvl, or ppl can do diferent stuff that they coulnt do it befor.

lvl 35 is even better...... i like lvl 40 and above in terms of combat, pvp, sea exploration, etc.

I like all the rest after lvl 15

So, imo lvl 30 game dont change, just get better then 25 in terms of combat and is where normally pvp starts, thats it.

    Voted it a 7.

I havn´t played that much yet, but so far it´s a solid fun game to play. Feels abit old fashioned. I do however think the graphics are abit mediocre ... didn´t really expect that, but the gap between GW2/FFXIV and AA is bigger then i thought.

    overall fun game.

I am not afraid to form my own opinion. However, I have seen time and again that lvl 30 is some magical level that makes this game worth the time. I have played more and it is growing on me, but I am just fine playing ESO at the moment.

Once AA is released I may give it a go more intently. Until then I will wait as I play other games.

I gave it a 5.  No I didn't hit level 30, couldn't make it as game bored me.  Shouldn't have to suffer through the starting levels to "get to the good stuff".
  • GluetasterGluetaster Member Posts: 6

I gave it a 4 and **GASP** LP had nothing to do with it.  For me the game was just MEH.  Its a pretty game, no doubt about it but something is just lacking.  I look for the "little" things and AA has none.  No NPCs in the massive towns and no airship pilot.. not a big deal I know, but to me, it was.  The game just had no life... no... something special for me.  But again, its just my opinion.

  • GruugGruug Member RarePosts: 1,794

I have made 4 characters over 2 beta weekends. One I play as a pretty mush solo character...however, his class is somewhat weak and he probably should group up more often.  Two of the others were to play with my friends though only one has done so to any great extent. And finally, made one just to see a little how other classes worked.

Now, as I said, I have played the last 2 beta weekends. I have had fun in both. However, I find that as a "free" player, my solo play character is not as much fun. My group only charater has been fun but since my friends aren't on all the times that I am I can not play him often enough to get much past level 15. At least the solo player is nearing L30. The biggest problem I am having right now is getting motivated to log on and play. As I said, the solo player is nearing 30 but the content for him is getting close to too difficult for him. Class choice has a lot to do with that I am sure. So, I am currently just sitting here debating..should log on or not.

What does that all have to do with how I rate the game? I rated it at a "7" by the way. Since I find the game fun I would like to rate it high. But because I have troubles playing and being motivated to play, I have to knock it down a few notches. I also have a bit of a problem with the so-called "free"  play of the game. While I am sure the paid portion has many more advantages (as it should), I find the free portion somewhat restrictive when attempting to solo much of the content. And, since I won't pay to fund someone else's ability to play for free, that also is a negative. All in all I find AA a good game...not a great game...just good.

Let's party like it is 1863!

cause of one of the most terrible features i've ever encountered in a mmorpg, the labor points, its a rock solid 1 for me. without these points archeage could get a good 6. removing or at least redesigning the open world pvp would make this game even better and i would give an 8. not that i don't like pvp, but pvp in archeage is a real mess: beginning with impossible to balance 120 class combinations over spawn camping to the majority of all pvp-players want to be a pirate and kill everyone in sight. xlgames had a lot of good ideas but they weren't able to fit all these together for a homogenic whole.

This will be an interesting game to watch.  I see a lot of praise for it but an equal amount of distaste as well.

I am curious though why it ranks below Tera and Aion in terms of popularity over in Korea.  Will it end up performing in a similar vein here?

Asian grinder with 'kill 5 rats' type quests straight out of the year 2000. For the people that think the sandbox aspect of the game will keep people playing are fooling themselves. What will be the point to log in and fish and mine when you have all the gear you want? What is the point in owning a farm? I don't understand how people are so excited about crafting end game, when gear doesn't drop when you are killed. Once you have the items you want to equip, what would motivate you to keep playing?

After a couple months all these founder pack players will realise they spent 150$ on Farmville

WOW should have ended in 2005 by your theory ....99.9% of everyone that played the game hit a wall where there was nothing they could do to advance any farther ...but still it chugged on and on
