Carbine Studios has announced that megaservers will be coming soon to WildStar. According to the forum post, there will be one PvE and one PvP megaserver per Data Center. Utilizing megaserver technology will consolidate the player base and increase raid / quest grouping density.
Under the new MegaServers, there will be one PvP and one PvE realm per Data Center. We’ll also increase the number of available character slots for each Megaserver. There’s lots more information to come, with some questions already answered in our FAQ and more on the way.
When the time comes, all guilds, arena teams, circles, mail and auction items will transfer to the new Megaservers. The normal “realm transfer” restrictions will not apply during this transfer. Unfortunately, one of the byproducts of this is that realm rule sets will be going away, so we will replace them with five region-wide chat channels – Roleplay, French, German, French Roleplay and German Roleplay. More details on this will be revealed soon.

Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
ha ha so true, same trick that SWTOR pulled off
behold.. the MEGA.. wait for it... SERVER
Not playing this game but I think it's a smart move and they did it rather fast, I applaud them for not trying to hold out! This will only serve to help stabilize and even boost the game.
Bravo Carbine! Honestly, of all the games out right now these guys seem to react the quickest to issues.
Looks like there isn't as big a market for a "hardcore" game as they thought. Their belief that "poopsocking cannot fail, it can only be failed" seems to be unraveling. It's a shame, too, since there's a lot of nice features in the game. I wonder if the blame for the failure will be either the game wasn't hardcore enough or we, meaning the dirty casuals, weren't hardcore enough.

It's just a bandaid that doesn't help with why the servers became empty in first place.
Just a consolidation of the few remaining people.

just a fancy name for server merge.
its funny how almost all recently released AAA titles started with "mini" servers, but switched to "megaserver" a few months after release :=)
It won't. The haters are still laughing and saying it's proof the game is doomed.
Take ESO if not for the megaserver tech it might look worse than Wildstar for all you know. Zenimax has never said how many subscribers they have and they are silent simply because if you open your mouth you remove all doubt. So this may be a very good thing for Wildstar and it's better than leaving the servers as it is now.
Not sure how this is different from a good old server merge.
But it's great for the population that they're acting swiftly, no one is going to benefit from playing on an empty server.
Feel free to use my referral link for SW:TOR if you want to test out the game. You'll get some special unlocks!
i have my popcorn ready for the ESO guys to give the WS guys the blues on this...
whats next ? f2p?
What makes me laugh is all the hate ESO received for launching with Mega Servers, and people crying about server pride...
