The one that very successful in their homeland, and you know what? Another shitty game fall before the might of ArcheAge!
You do realise, i was just pointed out how strange their timing is, right?
I could have posted the same in the wildstar f2p topic.
Because it is an obvious attempt to keep western players attention on the upcoming expansion of wow.
It isn't even about who's interested in what title. It's just marketing.
Or we could just take it as a counter attack, for a new game being released.
Even if the number of players interested in both games are small, and wow has nothing to fear from AA.
It's clear as day, this trial is a response to what happens on the mmo market recently.
----
On a side note.
The trial is aimed for newcomers, people who haven't decided on a game for example, or plays another and looking for something "new". This group of players are very likely to give a try whatever they come across. Sure, some will be turned down (just as example) by the graphics (wow), or the action combat (AA). But there is still a lot that would play both if had the opportunity.

You are right.
Blizard are not stupid, they know what they are doing like allways. Doesnt matter how many millions subs they might have, more is allways better, less is allways worse.
All the StarCraft and Diablo players who haven't tried it yet? :P
I imagine there's even a few Hearthstone ones. (though probably far less than the other two since I always figured HS players would be familiar with WoW)
My SWTOR referral link for those wanting to give the game a try. (Newbies get a welcome package while returning players get a few account upgrades to help with their preferred status.)
Would have given it a go any other time but Archeage is coming out . Even if it was still like it used to be in vanilla I think I would still be playing Archeage because it has so much more to offer even than when WoW was at its best .
Never thought I would find a game to top that experience its taken 8 years but finally something better has come along .
So guessing from the comments here Archeage is the next WoW killer. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say no, no it's not.
I'm not a huge fan of Wow, but Archeage really isn't going to be much of a concern for Blizzard.
I don't think the two are in direct competition .The type of gamer that plays WoW now would find Archeage incredibly challenging and complex . Its not a game for inexperienced mmo gamers where are WoW caters to them . Mind you Archeage may be the game some WoW players graduate to when they become more experienced and want world pvp and less carebear gameplay .
Its a bit like reading to Lord of the Rings after you have finished the Hobbit . Both are good but I know which I find more interesting .

You've pitted your card slinging skills in Hearthstone. Now come and test your skills in World of Warcraft—absolutely free! To help you get started, we're giving you the full digital version of World of Warcraft, which comes with 30 days of game time* and includes all of the content from The Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, and Cataclysm.
They say 30 days but it looks like they cut off all free time on Sep 26th no matter when you start.

There is only one type of player that AA caters to, the pkers with whale wallets. Trust me it's not a positive thing in the slightest.
Nope. This article is as misleading as the promo page from Blizzard.
You can create a new account and play for free until then but you can't log into an existing account and play for free until then. Which would have honestly in my opinion been a smarter marketing strategy given the craptastic state of MMOs at the moment.
I have been bouncing back and forth between GW2, ESO, FFXIV playing each about two days before I realize that I am not really enjoying them then the cycle repeats. I actually would have checked out WoW again if they offered me some free time to log in to my account and see what the state of the game is.

Model matters not. The thing is that ArcheAge is launching with a full trial open to anyone out of the gate (what makes the game "F2P") and Blizzard is attempting to draw attention away from it as well as Destiny. Sure Destiny is a console game, but it's still drawing attention as a sudo-MMO (although they're not DIRECTLY competing with it seeing as how it's owned by their parent company of Activision as well). .
But back to what I was saying: Blizzard has an excellent and very aggressive marketing team. Not only have they done some great campaigns to promote their game, but they do Press Releases, reveals, and other such things just around the time that other games step into spotlight. It's competition and it's done very well without directly slinging mud in the competitor's face. They don't loose anything with free trials except a bit more expense pushed towards server bandwidth, and that's easily covered with coverts and even the current pay-for-no-content subscribers.
If any game in the future ever releases with a marketing team that rivals Blizzards, that would be the day that WoW falls. The problem is that there hasn't been one yet (don't matter how big EA is, they did really poor post-launch marketing of Warhammer and SW:TOR).

Oh come on your actually saying wow doesn't have any griefers in it ? If you are that is one of the most ridiculous comment I have ever heard . WoW is known to have one of the worst communities in any mmo .
Last month I played WoW again compliments of Blizzard gifting me 7 or 10 days of free time. I enjoyed it. It had been years since I have played WoW besides the free Starter Edition which scratches my itch for a wee bit. I got to try a Pandaren Monk for the first time & really liked it. I got to the highest level I've ever achieved in WoW, but with me it's never about getting to top level. I enjoy the storylines & the scenery of games. I've thought about subscribing from time to time, but with all the good quality F2P MMOs available nowadays I cannot justify it though I can afford it. The WoW economy is super-inflated for a beginner. There had been lots of changes to the game since I last played & most I think were improvements. If/when they implement their Robin Williams tribute character then I'll subscribe for a month if it's respectfully done just to honor him & Blizzard's recognition of him. I still yearn for a WoW version of StarCraft though LOL

I'm certainly not that type . I like playing and socializing but I also like pvp . In the beta I have played on the EU servers the chat in general has been helpful with a few idiots of course . Far more friendly that WoW .
If I were to gank too many people in Archeage I would end up as part of the pirate faction which would limit me quite a bit later in the game .Although I'm sure it will appeal to some people .
I remember WoW when it had extensive world pvp on the pvp servers before they brought in the looking for a group tools which pretty much destroyed world pvp and also the need to quest . I remember huge battles between south shore and tarren mill . They were fun .
Those days are gone in WoW but they arn't in Archeage . I'm sure there will be a PKers but that never stopped me playing Vanilla WoW .Its what made in interesting if anything. I would even play WoW now if they had proper pvp servers but they don't . What you really have is pvp servers that really are pve ones in all but name only .
Statistically around 0.6-1.2 percent of the population are sociopaths there is nothing to suggest Archeage would have a higher percentage than WoW . Now what you may have is anti-social and immature people . I've met loads of anti-social people in WoW I bet you have too ? as for immature people well if you make a streamlined game to appeal a younger audience your bound to have people that have yet to mature arn't you .

I hardly think AA have anything to do with it, it isn't exactly aimed at the same players.
No, it is a probably a mix of them losing a lot of players the last year and the fact that they always seems to be running promotions a few months before they release a new expansion.
Wow do have plenty of faithful players but any game that want to continue as a big one needs an influx of new players, if that don't happen by itself you need to make something that attracts new players.
Wow might have been a bit nervous when GW2 and even TOR & ESO launched, but I doubt they care much about AA.
Originally posted by Slayblaze Just for the record, there is a surprisingly VERY large number of Hearthstone players who have never played WoW.
It's amazing how many people will try a game that is free versus one that has a sticker price. I doubt HS would be nearly as popular if it cost $15 a month.

I was given a year free sub to WOW a while back.
Logged into my max level warrior, re-visited some stuff..
I could not develop any motivation or urge to get back into it.
WOW provided some great entertainment way back when...which I am grateful.
Not even for free would I go back.
Divinity Original Sin, very interesting and fun! Back to RPGs!

Sadly the MoP addon is not included.
I would really like to try monk.
But i wont buy the addon or resub.
on my inactive WOW account,
i was given a different promotional email from Blizzard last week regarding MOP
but... a resub is required
