ArcheAge fans who have not yet had the opportunity to score a closed beta code now have a chance to get into the game and explore thanks to the commencement of the open beta. The open beta is scheduled to run from now through Monday, September 8th with the head start program for Founders beginning on September 12th.
Created by Jake Song, best known for his international online blockbuster Lineage, ArcheAge is a vast MMORPG adventure free from pre-defined paths and progression. Players can create unique and elaborate homes, build farms that drive the world economy, and sail their ships to uncharted lands where they can construct massive castles as they lay claim to rich and vibrant realms. ArcheAge’s PvP system allows players to fight for glory in huge battles on land and sea, or even shun the two factions and live the life of a pirate!

If you feel that way from what you've heard or read, then it probably isn't.
I did play the closed beta and found a number of 'things' about the developers and game that made up my mind not to play. Even more so, I uninstalled glyph and put Trion on my blacklist of developers that I do not care about playing games from.
I would say, any one on the fence about AA should really look extensively at the forum here on MMORPG. There have been numerous posts, both pro and con, regarding the state the game.

Since there's going to be a wipe I'll just fool around with some character creation and classes to see what I want to start with.
No point in burning out.
You should go more to church, gods dont like you
I dont care about beta, i just want the release.
I thought I'd take a peek. Is this "Open Beta" for "Founders" only?
I have done almost zero research into this game, so may not know what is what. "Open Beta" sent images into my head of creating an account, downloading the software, installing, and finally logging in. Is this not so here?

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.- FARGIN_WAR
Yeah, it's like that.

Install the game through the launcher and update it, congrats, you are ready to play.
Well... Not using their real names they don't...
Anyone thinking that in a multi million dollar industry ,where a product can be made or broken on opinion forming forums, is full of managers that won't use their employees secretly as cheap shills is a bit naive IMO.
This, ofc, isn't even talking about the professional shills and the established marketing companies that exist simply to hype and destroy product.
It's all part of the game. Hype yours up, rip the other's down. All for the cheap price of making an account or two.
It's OB, and part of OB for a F2P game, where you cannot even judge the incoming wave by number of boxes sold, is judging customer demand for live.
Queues are acceptable on day 1 in this situation while they tweak.
Apart from the queues for some, the launch so far has been immaculate as far as I have seen.
What an absurd blanket generalization.
There have been PLENTY of instances where game developers have directly bashed another developer, the most recent that I can think of being when Chris Haga, Jay Wilson and Jill Harrington trashed David Brevik on Facebook.
I believe Wilson's exact words were: "Fuck that loser". Ah yes, indeed they were:

Three staff members from the most prolific gaming studio in the industry, that had zero concern for the way they were conducting themselves and only showed a hint of remorse for their actions after a massive outcry from customers and fans publicly calling them out for being obscenely unprofessional.
Tight knit community? The gaming industry is one of the most cutthroat and ruthless of any on the planet. This scenario has happened many times in gaming history, why you seem to think otherwise is beyond me. You're fooling yourself.
Opinions "aren't allowed"? Eh? You're entitled to yours, ofc, but don't play that kind of victim card.
You don't like it, others do... It doesn't suit your tastes, it suits others... No biggie, and no need to get over dramatic.
Personally, having played for a few months, I am loving the game. Each to his own though.
I think you misunderstood what I was saying.
I said that it is a F2P game and therefore, without box sales as a metric, it is impossible for them to judge demand before this point. Because os of this, queues are acceptable in the first few days of OB.
I am not sure of the relevance of the rest of what you said in relation to what I did.
I got over dramatic, lol ok.I simply stated I don t like the game, no drama included. No need to get touchy.
You put a strong opinion out there and it got responded to on the same level. Nothing "touchy" about it.
I am starting to see a pattern in how you discuss things.
