It is the 80 levels imo. To me it feels as if character progression is spread out over too many levels. Levels feel already pointless in GW2 because of the automatic downlvling when you go back to old areas (which I think is a cool feature, but then why such a high lvl cap?).
There is nothing wrong with still learning how to play your character while already at max lvl. They did it in GW1 too. You kept some form of character progression because of the way you obtained skills way after you reached max lvl. Now in GW2 everything seems to happen during the first 40 lvls and then continues with 40 more quite pointless lvls imo. Which as character progression just feels boring.
its not boring if you have ppl to play with
theres many things to do
and to all QQers if you actually read what colin said
it only affects new player
"veterans" wont have gated skill progression becouse these unlocks are account based
to bad the combat and feeling of group play didnt make it with gw2..
I enjoyed the teamplay in gw1 alot it was very nice..
neven made till endgame with gw2 :S
There is no MMO with better combat that GW2. That is not an opinion.
However, you are correct in that group play is extremely lacking in PvE.
I had more fun with the combat in EQ2 by far, so, yes, it is an opinion. I also know lots of people who would argue that Tera's combat was superior.
Tera's combat is restrictive and has animation lock... not fluid at all. EQ2 might be good, but the game engine is horrible and lags greatly even now. GW2 along with ESO have very fluid combat and is more enjoyable and challenging. But yes it is more an opinion to a certain point.

You were being sarcastic right, PaRoXiTiC ? If not, I'm sure you have statistical data backed with references to support your "non-opinionated" statement that GW2 has the best combat.
Why would they listen to the "I'm not paying a penny more than I have to entitlement players". When you make a commitment to actually support the game and company then you can have a voice.
Till then your box price has already been delivered and you got more then your monies worth..
Why do people always say this? Can you honestly say that a subscription MMO offers quality content over a f2p/b2p, or a hybrid payment model? You only have to look at WoW and see that it's been almost a year since their last content update. Is that worth the price box of MoP plus a monthly subscription? I'm guessing you're one of those persons that throws money at government projects hoping they finally finish them after 40 years.

I have to agree with Noble. Tera's animation-lock restricts movement too much, making it less fluid. In GW2, it's more mobile, with less focus on combos, which don't root you in place. From what little i played of ESO, the combat was also pretty similar to GW2's. One of the reasons GW2 doesn't have a crosshair, is because it would require switching back and forth between mouse pointer and crosshair, like it is in Tera. EQ2 isn't even in the same league. It's a totally different combat system. lol.

I would spend more money on GW2 than I'm spending on Wow sub. Think about it.
Combat is bad-ass awesomesauce in GW2, bar some minor errors here and there. Animations look smooth, skills are vastly different between eachother, you have active dodging/invulnerability/etc.
I'd say their biggest mistake was not having something akin to a Trinity. There is very little interaction between players in GW2 on the PvE side, and you'd mostly just run with 3/4 of the highest DPS class (read "warrior"), and 1 enabler (mesmer/guardian). There is little reason to do anything else, since only pure DPS matters and all classes can heal/rezz.
Adding some reason to diversify the group, then making those interactions the centre of group gameplay could open up Veteran content options.
One of the major complaints when the game first came out was the fact that most players learned all of their weapon skills by level 6 or 7 and felt like there wasn't much to look forward too in terms of skills after that.
Now that ANet paced (or gated) the skill progression on weapons, it should address those types of complaints but at the expense of angering veteran players who intend to roll alts.
It's a tough situation for ANet, I do not envy them right now.
Agreed. The new levelling experience for 1-15 counts for less than 10% of everything added to this update.
There is nothing new in this. People pick one thing and go chop away at that, while ignoring all the awesome things that was added to spvp, wvw, crafting, UI and performance improvements - My FPS has gone up at avg 15 since the feature pack
Did someone say EQ2 combat was better than GW2?. I just got up so might still be dreaming about that giant squid chasing me. Even Tera, which many people love to praise, in my opinion pales to GW2. Almost every other game pales in comparison to GW2 combat for me.
To me, this just feels like a waste of resources, development and overhead that should have been put to better use elsewhere. It wasn't broken before, GW2 had a pretty good leveling system as it was. In the past 2, I think the biggest bitch that players had about early leveling revolved around the repetition of DEs rather than the character building experience. I just don't understand what possessed them to do this given players are wanting new permanent content at 80 as well as having other things corrected.

In large part I agree with this. I always start getting nervous when games start "fixing" content that players really never felt broken in the first place. Still loving the game so lets hope my excessive cynicism is showing here.
The game is getting destroyed by the development team. They want to insult a new players when they thing you would not learn the new weapon skill till lvl something. It is bad. Gating things like elementalist elements?! That is just pure idiocy of them and a way to break this game even further.
Its like Warhammer online when people just scratch head and dont find a single reason behind actions of the team. In WHO it was not going f2p and here it is "features" packs.
Dont repair something that isnt broken. Dont insult and alienate player base. Dont think anybody will buy PR shit.
Dont do this, people will go to you game and will rally on your banner to defend the game. Just dont fuck up.
ANet Fucked Up!.
I half agree with you but they are doing this crap because of the mmo playerbase. Mmo's are all a crap shoot these day and the playerbase is part of the problem. All they ever do is bitch and moan about everything. For me mmo's have lost the magic because they have gone mainstream and because of that they mostly suck now. Players have a big hand in the type of games that are coming out. Go to any mmo board and all you see is bitching and moaning. Then when the dev's make the changes you want they get more bitching and moaning. These players think they speaking for everyone and they are not. I swear i can't wait for Tes 6 and more singleplayer games like elderscrolls. I want to see more companies making these types of games instead mmo's now.
Some of the feature pack I like, mainly the change to the trading post, fixing mesmer, and making the ranger feel more beefy. With the npe I felt I needed to make a new character to get an honest feel for it, and at lvl 8 I'm fighting myself not to use a lvl 20 scroll. Why gate skill's that you normally need, not that the starter content isn't really faceroll difficulty. And gating the skill point challenges also seem's rather dumb to me. I feel sorry for the people that roll alt's or new player's that don't have access to the lvl 20 scroll's.

I don't think we veteran players really care that much, for one thing do I still have 7 unused "get to 20" scrolls in the bank, and I already have 9 different characters. And leveling is really fast when you know what you are doing no matter what they lock.
No, most of us are more annoyed that they wont make more open world content or dungeons than a few fractals and what they add slowly in the living story instead of stuff like this. Players are just noobs a short time.
It is possible of course that this is preparation for a free trial or something, that would make sense.
In my case I rather have them put all their work into an expansion right now, besides smaller fixes like the tweak to the megaservers as such.
No I was not being sarcastic. I didn't say GW2 was the best MMORPG on the market because I actually prefer several others to it. However, I have played every decent MMORPG that has been released and it is absolute fact that Guild Wars 2 has the best combat system out of them all. Once again, that is not an opinion. It's a fact.
If you believe otherwise then you have no skill whatsoever or are completely ignorant to what good combat is in an MMO.
TERA would be the only game that can even come close to putting up an argument to my statement. However, the stand still casting puts it in 2nd place.

I realize the context of your post is for emphasis, but they are still nothing more than your opinions, and labeling your opinions as facts, in any context, undermines your credibility.

I understand what you're talking about, however you have to be more specific if you want to claim that.
If you want to compare mobility, then yes, GW2's combat is better than Tera's combat. If you want to compare aiming, then Tera will be better, since it provides a crosshair. You'll also need to argue why Reactive and Crippling skills are better in each game. Again, talk specifics.

There really is no need for all that. The combat trumps any other game by such a large margin that specifics are pointless. If only the people working on this game cared more about PvP. I would still be playing it.

I disagree with the model they had it set for leveling personally (It was extremely boring to me having nothing earned in the process), though I have to really jump in and agree with trying to 'fix' stuff. The game is already out and established. "Fixing" things to try an attract new players is more likely going to leave those invested unsatisfied without a sure draw for new players to jump into the game. Rather then take things away, why not try and find new ways of making it interesting that can effect old players as well as new? It just seems like a waste to try and rework it when its likely not going to do much if anything to get new players into the mix.

Actually.... that's totally an opinion.
Don't be so hard on him, not everyone has access to a dictionary, nor do they know where to find one on the internet.
"Opinion" actually literally means "What I just wrote on the internet is objective fact."
