As is, the game isn't half what it used to be.

I agree with you. I would have invested years in this game if it was just a subscription game.

Followed this game for a few years. I was very disappointed when they announced the business model.

Don't worry.  It won't be too long before there is no waiting to log in because there won't be that many playing anymore.

I just can't wait to see what excuse the sandbox open world PvPers will come up with as to why this title "fails".   It can't be because open world PvP and sandbox games really aren't what the masses want.  Nah, couldn't be that.

If this game fails, it will be due to the business model.

The game itself is quite appealing to many players, myself included.

I just can't see myself paying a sub, and not getting more.

Free to play games cant fail, thats illogical.

But this one is far from failing, I suspect more people have waited in queues than bought Wildstar and ESO ombined. Certainly more people trying to play this game than those two currently. Doesnt mean AA is a good or great or bad game. Its new. It will be a big game for thepeople that love it, and there are alot of them. Theyre pissed and cryingnow but once the locusts leave and the servers calm down the game will be more than fine and the gaming experience will be good.

Once more peopel get ot max level and start gamking and raping people that will drive alot of free loaders and wannabe patrons away too.

Trion is getting destroyed on the forums but what theyre doing sis what they need to do to make sure the game survives after this initial onslaught. They learned from Rift and the mistakes others have made running out too many servers just because people are crying.

As it is there are 5 or 6 servers in NA at least where the queues are non existent even today a weekend at primetime. The original head start servers not so much. But patrons have had ample chances to move. If they have tough shit I guess live with your queues.

Games that let you buy game time and market place credits with in game gold last forever.

No, I actually love sandbox games and played UO, EVE and loved them all!

Thats exactly my point though - in sandbox you dont have/need quests, but if devs decided to implement them they should have done a better job or leave the questing out of this.

You are welcome mate :) but I wasn't actually in those queues, 4k+ is just too much, besides I installed the rus client aswell, no queues there :)

sandbox does not exclude questing nor where you forced to them in archeage

I highly doubt that.  If i'm wrong, show me some evidence?  We have no idea how many are allowed on the server at once.  Nor do we know exactly how many bought both Wildstar and ESO.  The thing I do know is that themeparks in general are a lot more popular then the type of mmo Archage is.  I'm not saying AA is a failure, but I would be really surprised if what you said is true.

I don't see where the problem is, i had to wait in queue when i played wow after big patches. And there everyone paid? I didn't pay to skip queues i paid to get a house and have labor ^^. If you expected to have no queue as patron that's whishful thinking.

This game has plenty of patrons, so even if there is a priority que you are gonna end up in queue (look at Battlefield premium).

There fixed it for you ^^

As a Patron and I know you need to be and I have no problems with that. I myself would label this game free to try. And I prefer it that way.

As with your other comments, I fail to see how what you say are no longer the case?

80% of the trade pack rewards goes to the player who turns it in and 20% to the player who made it. How exactly is pirating gone?

They listened to their players and reverted the changes to the LP pots.

So I fail to see what exactly you mean by how the game is now half what it used to be.

And for the OP I prefer this combat, over facerolling on my keyboard GW2 style while zerging.

You mean they listened to their bottomline as their founder packs sale got hurt, so they "TEMPORARILY" reverted back those changes.

The moment they are done selling the "launch" founder packs, they will revert back those LP pot changes to their intended cooldowns.

Come on now.  You really think TRION is going to let go of that cash grab goldmine with LP pots?

The whole game is build around LP! /shrug

"end game"  wait theres a mmo that ends? i was to believe that mmo's were to be never ending and many other things to do than to rush to the end like if it was supermario bros ..wouldnt that be a single player type of game? or a game like boarderlands?

ppl that complain about the long Q times baffles me..thats like wanting to stand in the longest line at walmart..why would you want to go to the most populated server and have no land to work with

i just logged in for the first time and had no problem what so ever..no wait at all n played till lvl 14 im really starting to think that alot of ppl have super dumpy connections or low on ram when trying to load the game

This game looks and plays like every single Asian MMO I've ever played - I truly don't understand the hype.

Best MMO I've played in ten years.
  • JabasJabas Member UncommonPosts: 1,249

Imo theres alot of missleading things around here:

    - Game dont open up at lvl 30, only the pvp because questing will be send to pvp zones.

    - Freadom/sanbox features (whatever name ppl call it) start around lvl 8 -12 for patrons that want to focus in non-combat activitys.

    - AA dont have only 1 "end game", the end game is the personal objective of each player/guild, can be:

Build and take control of a territory in noth continent. This is the most common but not everyone goes this way.

Be a pirate guild and control the sea.

Be one of the most rich "merchant" in game, playing with the most profit trade routes

Be a expert farmer like a honey producer, yes is not easy and theres a guide somewhere.

Be a professional sport fisherman, sport fishing is amazing special with the fishboat.

Be the king of the pvp arenas.

    etc, etc.

Theres is not a define end game in AA, end game is what you define for yourself.

I just can't get pass the early quests hubs ,

wait to kill some quest mobs ,

wait for elite quest mobs (boss) spawn .

Oh , and wait for queue if it count as part of game.

IMO , the quest hubs don't go well with this kind of game , because if player can't make "friend" with other before 30 , he will drop out soon .

and the housing wasn't good . at less put some restrict like only "family" with max member can own land

Except WoW was released 10 years ago.  There's no excuse for it in 2014.  Trion knew this would happen.  It's not like they are amateurs to the MMO genre.  Afterall, they have launched Rift and Defiance in the past.  They are purely doing this because they don't want server merges later, and all that server hardware costs lots of money and it would be useless if a merge happened.

I find it amusing, that for this "next-gen" title, they can't even get their server technology up to date.  Even WoW, which is 10 years old, has implemented "connected-realms".  GW2 has megaservers, and soon Wildstar (if already hasn't).

So I kept pushing myself to play the game to reach that end game !

Essentially though, even with all the "end game" waiting for me I couldnt bare through the awful and clunky UI, horrible questing and the cheap feel of an asian product so I decided to wait for LiF, which should be much better, hopefuly the guys can pull it off!

Oh and the LP system is TOTAL rubbish pushing you to become a Patron (essentially making this game a P2Win game).

I would say it is more like a sub game with a free endless trial. I have tried other such software that limits features for non-paying clients. Same applies here.

This is hindsight of course ... but there is no-way Trion had any idea how many folks would become patrons so quickly in this game

I think its as much sandbox as you might be able to get. Yea more land could be opened, which it will but all in all.. coming from a UO, EQ, Wow vet its good... IMO

So basically you just wanted us all to know we are full of crap. Thanks, good luck finding a game more for you.

The labor system is the smartest economic tool I have sen in an MMO. All I see here is f2p crying. No such thing as a free lunch, f2p is designed to make you spend money. It is amazing people have not gotten that yet.
