1) It's P2W, it really is. If I'm looking for a F2P game, it better be F2P.
2) Questing/PvE there's a lot better, more fun question & PvE elsewhere.
3) Weird UI, kind of like GW2s.
4) Animations are a bit odd, combat/movement/mounting feels clunky.
5) The community is horrible, even if you check some of the forum posts here, it's just not that great.
I could add some more but they aren't that important, those three are the main reason I uninstalled this game.
Have you seen the light and jumped aboard the Project Gorgon train? I think I saw you on the Gorgon forums. I already prefer Gorgon over ArcheAge even though it isnt finished.
XLgames is both inept and disingenuous "b-b-but the economy! that's why you have to use labor pots!"
The economy?
Then why I was sitting at the docks watching people tp hack to the traders making god knows how much gold an hour?
Running around with unencrypted data ahhhh BAD!
That and all in all I feel that the localization was half-assed. It's got some good ideas but there are many oversights that show the developer is out of tune with the western audience.
I quit over the crafting changes on the Sunday of the prelaunch.
However, I'm in a Multi game guild and I got talked into coming back. I got back in and I'm very under impressed now. I only have the one main toon and Trion has now locked Kyrious. I cannot make any alt's. So many of the F2P people have a mass of alt's.
No room to put down a house.
no room to put down a small farm
no room to put down a large farm.
But I can buy an area to place down one of these items - Sure you can if you want to support the gold sellers; However I don't want to support them.
XLGames/Trion had a good idea with player homes/farms. However, they way they implemented the idea means there isn't enough land to go around even for all the trailblazers; and therefore even less for the founders. Now add in the F2P players with cash burning a hole in their pockets.
I'll continue spinning my heels for the sake of the guild, but IMHO the rating of 6.60 needs to be lowered to 2.20 to reflect the true fun factor of the zoo known as ArchAge
funny how every one is ignoring the people who like the game and have nothing better to do than bitch in a topic not related to them as they still play.
Maybe because misery loves company and whiners respond to whiners, prefering not to engage with positive people or sentiments.
The standard play here on this board is to tune out anyone with anything good to say and get back to complaining about the fallacy of P2W and it being 'too Asian'.
Crying for attention, not caring whether that attention is good or bad. A response, and response, will do, any bitching is usually the most sure way to get it.

I think it is better to have all the complaints and "I quit! Goodbye!" posts contained in one thread, isntead of everyone and his dog opening up a new one. That said, I understand the sentiment to be left alone, people not playing and only complaining on the forums are a pain in the ass if you ask me.

I read all the thread until page 4 (the current), and nothing is new and suprising to me. I already said which kind of players would probably dislike AA in another thread (that was locked). Basicaly, in these 4 pages i read, i saw a combination of 3 kinds of player: Content Rusher/Instant Gratification seeker, carebears, Soloers and so on.
Once that crowd get away from AA and go back to WoW or some other new themepark, AA will stabilize with a population made of its initial target public.
And who make up that public? The children flooding the chat with their "WoW jokes", "Chuck Norris humor" and the "the French are the suxxors and need to die" comments? The players decorating their homes with photos of sexy women in bikinis? Or the goldsellers/botters, who seem to have the time of their live with this game?
Frankly, I do not want to be associated with the groups I named above. When I have to put the chat off in a game because it is only spam from goldsellers or the goddamn Barrens chat all over again, it is a sign that the game is perhaps not for me. Next to that I had some technical issues with the game which I am sure of are on my end. Instead of spending time solving it I just got my refund from Trion.
Aside from all that I did not find the game all that special. The questing is particular bland, but as the focus is more on PvP it did not bother me that much. The thing is that because the PvE is so insubstantial the rest of the game needs to hold my attention, which it did not.
What I did like was the (core) of the class system and I would like to see something like that in a real sandbox game in the future.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy ArcheAge with its initial target public soon. I will not envy you for it, that is for sure.
AA is just too... korean... you know, like japanese cars, the only reason people buy them is because they are cheap, but AA isnt cheap, so there is really no incentive to choose it over say Life is Feudal or Wurm or any other european sandbox game
I liked the game, but I don't like tweaking my pc and optimizing it for one game every other day. I have had days where I can play and days when I can not, ever since yesterdays update, it is crashing every 10 - 20 minutes now. Archeage is the only game that does that to my pc. I have ran dx9,dx10,dx,11, updated bios, windows, gpu ... and yes I even turned off my antivirus for a minute, tweaked in game settings to lowest quality ....
8gb ram
I7 4790K
GTX 660
MSI Z97 Gaming 5 motherboard
Win 8.1
750 watt psu
When I can play it looks beautiful on screen, and really my system should eat this game up like it's nothing, but that's not the case, I have no temp issues, and like I said this is the only game that does this.
So at this point in time, I'm just going to put it down, I may come back or maybe not. Would have been cool to start trading, and be a part of everything that's going on, especially on the server and getting to know everyone, but hey no sweat, I have a ton of other games to play as well.
Good news!!! It works great today, been playing for 3 hours already no problems. Not sure what changed, but just going to keep marching on.
If I am not sitting in a queue and I cannot get it, it's because there's maintenance going on.
One I get into AA, I spend a good chuck of time blocking gold spammers. Or, I am sighing at the gold spammers who have figured out how to spam without their name showing - so I cannot block them.
Once I am beyond the login queue, the maintenance period, and the gold spammers, I am playing a rather below average theme park.

Great game, jaded community! This game is what I have heard most people in this community ask for (i.e. open world, naval battles, sandbox environment, open character development, etc), I think it's time that a lot of this community ask themselves what do they really want!
You can't have your cake and eat it too. You can't have a sandbox environment that doesn't require a great deal of time invested to succeed. "The environment is dull!", "Wildstar is too bright and cartoony!", "WoWs graphics are outdated!", etc, make up your mind people. Eve is perfect yet only has about 200k subscribers, why is that?
AA is a throwback MMO with updated graphics and open sea combat, which is what the majority of this community has been screaming for! Yes, it's a time sink, so was UO, EQ, Vanilla WoW, DAOC, etc, which is what people have been supposedly longing for. I think it's time for many of you to accept that your MMO days may be over and it may be time to move on to console games.
Seriously how do you please that which can not be pleased??
Originally posted by thunderC Im currently considering quiting at this moment, From the toxic community to what i feel is a horrible korean mmo style grind not really my cup of tea, and although the graphics are decent when you really look at them there is just something lacking, almost dull about them. The ocean is gorgous though but that wears off very fast escpcially when you discover just how lifeless it is.Also the cash shop and Marketplace items will make you bankrupt, This game is HEAVY PAY 2 WIN you have been warned lol Just curious those of you who have already quit this game , why?
Pay 2 win? You obviously don't know what that term means. If you don't like the game then man up and leave but trying to make feeble excuses just makes you look bad.
You do realize that the long game hasn't even started yet? Some games take longer than 10 days to esablish your character but I guess your not up for that.
Bye.
you evidently do NOT know what p2w means. it means if you can buy stuff with money that helps you in the game that cannot be found or made in game.than it is p2w.the whole concept is p2w,the lp,the only sub can have houses and land which means only subs can craft as you need land to get leather or wood.the lp difference is stupid,a sub can make as much lp a daty logged off as a non sub logged on 24 hrs a day, the lp is accoubnt based so to have an alt you need a 2nd account,as you share the lp.

AA is basically a sub game that allows people to play for free if they want. It's not a F2P game and it shouldn't be with all it offers, get over it! So if you want to play the game, pay the $15 a month (which is roughly the same price as lunch at chilis) and enjoy it.

People buy cars manufactured by Japanese automotive companies because they're cheap? No..people buy them because most of them retain resale value, run like a charm and last forever if you take care of them. ...and sometimes even if you don't.
Aren't most US autos these days using Japanese parts? Americans have been buying Japanese (and other foreign) cars for years now,if not decades, without even knowing.
Though I will agree that Life is Feudal is really starting to appeal to me? Might buy that too. I wonder if you can set up a noble/peasant class system...an actual serfdom . lol. hmmm. I'm sure it's not that detailed.

Agreed. That's the way I see any game I enjoy that utilizes a sub/fF2P/RMT hybrid payment model. If I really like the game I have no problem throwing money its way. Those people that expect "Free to Play" to mean...absolutely nothing paid ever..just because "free" is right there in the name, apparently already live in a fantasy world. Not sure why they even need an MMO.
I will agree that there really needs to be a change to the "Free to Play" marketing label. If only to benefit the people who don't seem to understand that that is all it really is ...a marketing tool. One that has been around in many guises long before it was used in the gaming industry.
Other possible & more honest labeling :
Free to Try?
Free to Choose?
Free to Sub?
Partial Play?
Try or Buy?
I'm partial to "Try or Buy" (ToB) myself. Maybe "Unlimited Try or Buy" (UToB)?
Unfortunately the word "free" has a very strong economic appeal to consumers.
I was planning on keeping at it until at least level 30+. However the finally straw for me was at level 17 (low I know) was a silly daily quest which required me to pay 1g for a token to get a mallet. You use this mallet in a "wack-a-mole" style game. Wack 40 and turn in the quest for....1g. So not only did the game not work right for me as I definitely hit 40+ of these things (but only registered 6/40) but had I completed the "quest" my reward was exactly what I put into it.
Some of the content does not seem to be logical for some western gamers. It's kind of like how you watch TV here then watch something from Japan and you are left with this "wtf" moment because the content doesn't apply to you. AA feels kind of like that for me. ill-logical design choices that probably worked best in it's intended region.
For those who enjoy the game and will continue to do so, grats and carry on. But I and others will have to wait for the next MMO boat
I forced myself to play it for 10-15 hours and I can't bring myself to it anymore. The positives I looked forward to it just don't outweigh the negatives I have with it.
I don't enjoy its art style, lore, combat, or UI. There's some really awesome things in the game and I understand why people like it but it simply isn't for me

Yup It definitely isn't one of those I win game in 8 hours . Expect to be playing it for years to master everything .
I wouldn't exactly say its pay 2 win but its more Pay 2 Rush .
Almost every MMO ever made you can buy from gold farmers so that means all games are pay 2 win .
XLgames is both inept and disingenuous "b-b-but the economy! that's why you have to use labor pots!"

There is, at least in my book, a huge difference between PvP and Gankfest.
Archeage is unfortunately more gankfest than it is PvP. I love PvP, I hate gankfest...
Archeage: Let me recap.
As of yesterday -
I still sit in a queue to get in.
Still trying to find the magic
The thread is for people discussing their reasons for quitting the game.
Or any posts like "this is the best MMO ever."
Not a big Korean grinder fan.
I enjoy L2 now and then, but I didn't enjoy AA.
