The ocean is gorgous though but that wears off very fast escpcially when you discover just how lifeless it is.Also the cash shop and Marketplace items will make you bankrupt, This game is HEAVY PAY 2 WIN you have been warned lol Just curious those of you who have already quit this game , why?

Pay 2 win? You obviously don't know what that term means. If you don't like the game then man up and leave but trying to make feeble excuses just makes you look bad.

You do realize that the long game hasn't even started yet? Some games take longer than 10 days to esablish your character but I guess your not up for that.

    Bye.

He is right, the game is pay 2 win by definition (not your millinial definitions of what you want it to be). Meaning there is exclusive content locked behind a paywall (auction house for instance or owning land/farms).

I leveled up all the way to 50 thinking I would have a nice solo pvp experience as a pirate. Well first of all you won't get anywhere in this game by yourself, just like all the other mmorpgs in the past you simply cannot do some content by yourself. I never had an easy time getting in guilds or making friends so if I can't do something solo for my own personal achievement then that is a sure sign something is wrong.

Next the pvp is really bad. OP specs and spells make it impossible to do anything. The open world pvp is pointless as you get nothing (I think I got 20 honor one time for a kill after probably hundreds). You can't go out into enemy territory and steal their farm stuff or even gank them because they have some invincible invisible protective buff/wall .... but they can still kill you.

Trade runs are a joke. You can't even go to the next territory without getting ganked.

Dungeons are the same old same old except AA makes it tediously more complicated to get a group.

The labor system is the biggest turn off I think. Completely broken system that paying members can take full and exclusive advantage of. I mean the pay features for this game are ridiculous and too much.

Then don't forget the fact that if you want to acquire items or even some quest items you'll spend 1-5 gold per item per quest per whatever you need to get it. I had almost 200 gold when I hit level 50 and went back to finish up some quests and was 100 gold gone a few hours later.

Then they give you a quest to change your skills and level up all them (another 1 gold per pop) and now your new skills are total lacklusters cause you didn't spend 50 levels leveling them up and have to get new items for your magic skills now that you never ever used in the game.

In the end I kept asking myself... why do I keep playing this? It's just the same old crap and you'll never get ahead. The pvp I had in mind was totally wrong from what I expected and I think that is the main reason for quitting. It is not rewarding at all. You get nothing for infiltrating enemy towns. You get nothing for even killing the enemy.

Yea pretty bad game imo. Too much korean grind behind a huge pay wall.

Man, this whole rant of your smacks of "Im badass because I play this manly game and you're not as tough as me because you cant handle it." I hate that attitude. I get that you feel the need to stand up for your game but damn, find some other way to defend it that actually makes sense.

This attitude only serves to drive more people away.

I quit because it just isnt anything new.

Everything in Archeage i have done in other mmos and probabbly better.

Archeage didnt realy capture me during beta and i waited to release to give it another go.

But i dont get the feel of enjoyment that i get with other mmos.

Archeage is supposed to be a sandbox but its more of a sandpark.

    Questing is dull.

The harvesting is ok but ive seen it done better as well as the crafting.

Graphics were not really as amazing as the hype had suggested.

I also looked at Korean Archeage which doesnt seem to be doing that well either.

Really i could list a lot of reasons why i stopped playing Archeage but i feel there is no need as its been covered in this thread already.

But it makes no difference what anyone says. If you enjoy the game then play it and have fun.

Ignore the community, just turn off chat or turn off all but party/guild chats

    1 word: TRION
  • AthisarAthisar Member UncommonPosts: 666

I joined the forums because of this site being mentioned quite a lot on the ArcheAge forums.

I got the Archeum founder's pack, and Trion's terrible treatment of founders has a lot to do with quitting. I can't get a refund because I bought it via Steam.

Other than that, I think all of the hacks and bots has left the game in state where there's not much point. The music is embarrassingly bad. The story's dull, and the quests are archaic (barely anything more than fetch and kill rats type ones). Crafting could be good, but due to AH hacks, the economy in a total state, it's no fun. Chat is usually overrun with gold seller spam or racist crap.

The p2w elements are too much, and I feel will only get worse with time.

I did think initially it'd be a good game and if it'd been launched well and Trion hadn't screwed us perhaps I'd feel differently, but given the effort to keep up with bots and hackers and zerg guilds it's really just not worth the effort. There are too many other games that are much more fun and ultimately cheaper.

I do think if it'd been launched as a subscription-only game and had been handled well by another publisher, it'd have turned out completely differently.

ArcheAge is a real mmo in the classic sense. For many soloers and PVE only players they cannot understand this.

The game is about coordination, guild assistance and setting goals. If you come into the game without setting goals and knowing what you want to do you will end up hating the game.

If you come into the game with a solo mindset, you will end up hating the game. End game is about pvp and gearing up your guild, either for bigger more profitable trade runs, bigger and better pvp engagements or market control. You have to approach the game with a Real Time Strategy mindset.   Right now its about as close to Civilization the mmo that we can get in a mmorpg.

Don't like pvp then do one of the following things

Write the greatest song - yes writing music is a skill

Learn the language of the other faction

Beat the Kracken with a fleet of ships

Craft the best weapons, armor, or other myriad of items

    Get the biggest house

    Get the biggest farm

    Become a trade baron

Explore the world on your boat and find the best hidden places in the world

Tour the entire world on a Glider

Raise all 21 professions to max level

Take on world bosses with siege weapons

Go underseas treasure hunting - yes you can do this

    Become infamous

The point of ArcheAge is not to -play-, themeparks are for playing

The point of ArcheAge is to allow your character to -live- in the world and give them a life to do something that they enjoy

It brings back the RPG in MMO-RPG

ArcheAge is not about YOU its about everyone that you roll with. Play selfishly, think short term, approach it like a themepark and you will hate the game.

There are plenty of themeparks out there that encourage solo gameplay and anti social tendencies, find one and be happy with it. I personally recommend FFXIV:ARR.

For those who sit there complaining about "The game opens at level thirty" you are completely wrong. I stopped questing at level fifteen. I am level 36 now and i did all of my questing through masonry, metal work and weaponsmithing.

Probably because it is the only game you need 20ms so your skills work.

I play normally other games with 140ms, but ArcheAge looks like does work with 140ms (latency).

I didn't really quit, I just sort of lost interest. I can't point out something in the game that made me not want to play it, but I thought to myself "I don't want to spend my time on this playing this game".  When I think about loading it up, I think "naaaah, too much hassle. All my stuff has probably been uprooted, my farm gone along with everything else not nailed down".  Not exactly an enticing thing to come back too, is it?  It's a good game for a couple of weeks but it becomes a list of chores... No thanks, I have a life and I don't want to spend an hour a day doing nothing but virtual maintenance on farms etc.

I know I'm late to the discussion...

Main: no mouse invert. It doesn't matter if you understand why, it needs to be there.

    Secondary: P2W

Glad to say that, for once, I saved myself a bunch of money dodging this turdbomb.

  • MardukkMardukk Member RarePosts: 2,222

I'm surprised that every second post isn't quitting due to the ques.  I was able to get in during one primetime.  Usually the wait is 3+ hours.  Half the time I get to about 100 - 200 and get disconnected and restarted...

I actually had a little fun the time I played once I got past lvl 15.  I found the first big city and it had quite a few hidden quests and neat things to with your glider.  The crafting looks daunting, I haven't touched that yet.  I can't wait to get past the quest hub tutorial and see what the game is really about.

I havn't quit. I am just not playing despite my Archeum status. I am bored as fuck and would rather play something else right now.

Felt like I'd done it before in countless other MMOs. It did not excite me from the start. Hated the LP system. No fun to be had here. To my surprise I enjoyed Landmark more, it felt different.
  • Ezze902Ezze902 Member Posts: 34

I quit the game because...   Played till level 48 with a silver founders pack.  Was in a top 5 guild for the server I was in... had a large farm.

Heres the deal... I was going to go mainly support/healing... Well you need certain weapons for healing... which I was not getting from questing.  Auction house weapons were very expensive, as well was gear.... which I also needed.

People die so fast... I am not even sure healing would actually save people in PVP.   Back to my gear point...

I started to craft food, because quest givers stopped giving it to me... and it costs labour to level cooking, so wont be making any useful food anytime soon unless I buy labour pots.   NPCS dont sell it.

I did a level 40 dungeon and found the mechanics very clunky.... so getting gear was a pain in the ass... wasnt able to finish the dungeon.

Potions that make people glide better... when Iam chasing them down.... they get away because of a better glider and because they used a potion on top of that.

I have no faith in the CASHSHOP or LABOUR SYSTEM.   There are people in my old guild that bought additional character spots.... each character can buy a LABOUR POTION.... so they fill up their labour each day and are so far ahead of most in crafting.

The queues killed a weekend... and I didnt even login because of 1 hour+ queue times.... the past week hasnt been bad, before I quit.

I liked alot of the mechanics in the game, but at its core, are greedy greedy SOBs....

I requested a refund... they actually gave me the refund which was nice.... so I will take it and run before they take it away.

the game is easy to level in... the REAL KOREAN comes out in crafting... thats where the grind is at.

  • rajah.comrajah.com Member UncommonPosts: 5

They gave me a refund.. Full refund of my 150.00

    No questions asked at all

I can't suffer through the absolute torture to get to the good stuff. The game's combat is too dated, much like the graphics and character models. Quests in a sandbox game shouldn't exist past level 10. Not only do they go overboard with the amount of quests but the quests themselves are the same old song and dance just like the combat. This crap was acceptable in 2006. It's not acceptable anymore. Then there's the whole Labor Point system which is by far one of the worst systems I've ever seen implemented in a game. I'd have just as much hate for it even if the game was fully subscription based with no F2P option. It feels like they basically went out of their way to make every mistake possible. Trion shouldve left this game in the Korean garbage bin they found it in instead of tarnishing their reputation with one of the most mismanaged launches for a game that isn't even mediocre.

Well I will tell you what keeps me from playing.

First of all lets assume I am a paying customer, I don't feel as if I am getting what I should pay for.

. Arche Age, doesn't give subscribers (Freedom) to change appearance (This is a feature I want if I am going to play the game at all.)

Rift, Has this feature in Rift you buy cosmetic Unlock Packs, and are allowed to freely switch between cosmetic appearance as you please in game without having to spend money.

. Housing, I don't like the housing system I would rather my housing be instanced or something to where I can build a really big house like in FFXIV, or Rift, customize my world like in Rift.

Why Do I have to pay Taxes I am already a paying customer this should be (Free) with my subscription until It expires in which the user should have 48 hours to renew before they lose housing. (What if I take a 2 month break but remain a paying customer, why should I have to give up my housing.)

. Random Stats, I hear about this this is another thing that turns me away from the game.

. Gold Spammers / Third Party Program users, yes its real I went in game to check it out today Gold Spammers everywhere, and hear talk about cheaters in the game using teleport cheats.

. Over All, the game feels Pay 2 Enjoy, unless the developers make this game better soon, I am waiting for a better game.

. Cash Shop, They don't even offer any good cosmetic items yet at least to me only what looks to me like Robes no Silks.

So why not just play Rift, Well Rift is okay its better than most F2P Games and I like the mechanics / Game over-all but the actual worlds turn me away from playing somewhat I would rather have Elven Green Forests and such (AA) was what I was hoping for somewhat but now that this game to me seems to be just bad with no signs of improvement still I just can't even bring myself to play this game.

(Also to comment on an above post.) Why would they have to (Ban) your account to refund you rather than just delete the game entirely from your account, or all characters / downgrade it to a (Free) account just in-case you ever tried the game at a later time.

    Why Kripp don't play

His opinion came much later than mine, but I didn't even start for the same reason.   I knew AA was going down a dark road the minute it was announced to be microtransaction based.   This essentially tied Trions hands behind their back.

Also I had the image in my mind that I will own a land plot in the game, build a house, and do stuff there, but the word seems to be that all the plots are owned already?

It just does not look that good considering what I can do in the game? Grind, not own a house, and get overshadowed by p2w people who commit their lives and half of their salary on the game.

I'm not saying it's a bad game, it seems quite fun actually, the p2w style just is not for me, if that's not a problem, I'm sure it can be a really fun game. Perhaps someone will sell their land to someone who missed the land rush but hoards a fortune, I suppose it's possible in game. Have fun who's playing.

Going on that video alone, everything he says is reasonable. He's actually saying the game is good, he just isn't prepared to deal with Trion's crap, which is fair enough.

mostly aesthetic reasons for me, from the anime look of the characters, to the bloom affect of the game(dont like things or characters to pop up suddenly when your on top of them) plus didnt care for NPCs speaking in Korean, didnt really get into the story that was preseneted... not gonna say its a bad game, its just not the game for me.

People at most times will always find fault with something, it is what makes this community hard to please, but in the same sense makes this community hard to placate with crap too.
